Weird... I'd always heard Terra had some feelings for Locke. Oh, well. I guess Locke and Celes are a cute couple... :'(

It's impossible to play FFVI and not fall in love with Terra. She very easily could have become a Mary Sue with her special powers, but instead, we get a person who desperately needs the people around her, and is willing to become a hero through sacrifice and help. Terra continues to be one of my favorite FF characters!

Terra is a female character done right. The character development is relatable and dynamic (lack of personal identity due to amnesia => half-human half-esper and unsure of her place in the world => finding strength and love in the end of the world => embrace her identity and reason to live). Similar to Ellen Ripley in the Aliens, her strength did not come from traditional masculine reasons like anger, revenge, fury, but from the maternal love and protective instinct for orphans and children. Terra was a character written by Square almost 30 years ago, and she still set the bench mark of good female character in fiction today. ......And Terra is just one out of 12 main characters in the game. It really tells you how remarkable is FF6 if you think about it.

FF6 affected me at a young age. Now as an adult artist, whenever I need to scribble something, I always gravitate to Terra. Her femininity and Amani’s versatile costume designs acts as a great creative exercise for me.

I don't care what anyone says, in my head canon, Terra will always have GREEN hair. The blonde makes her look basic. She's half esper! Let's embrace the weirdness. Celes is the blonde and she's a great character all her own.

Terra has been a very important character for me ever since I played the game for the first time a few years ago, she's a character that has been consistently hitting close to home and I related to her struggles and wishes, and somehow even though she's arguably one of the most relevant final fantasy characters in the whole franchise it always felt like people don't appreciate her enough.

Terra is such an amazing character I love everything about her, her cute, innocent and beautiful looks, her personality, her character development, her theme. She is my all time favorite video game character, very happy that she is a fan favorite and people love her :D

FF7 remake is never going to come out so other remakes won't happen

General Leo was actually quite a good guy, not only did he appose almost all of Kefkas actions. He had no real bad intentions and was just simply a really good solider.

"quite" a good guy ? He's the nicest person in all of the empire. Celes also used to be evil, and we don't actually know if kefka is originally evil or good. He was moustache twirlingly evil because he's infusion with magic made him insane. He was a failed project

@@GlacikingTheIceColdKing there’s a theory that Baram, who you see in Shadow’s nightmares that reveal his backstory, was turned into Kefka by the empire. I don’t personally believe that theory, but if it’s true, then Kefka was never completely good, since Baram and Shadow were famous thieves.

Terra is "Mama" for orphans and her name means Earth. Mama-Terra = Mother Earth. :)

Terra is my favorite FF protagonist; Kefka is my favorite FF antagonist. FFVI is my favorite final fantasy installment. Surprising, I know.

Aside from Mode 7, nothing about the game is particularly dated, though. It is still a joy to this day and graphically is appealing to the eyes, again with the exception of the Mode 7 overworld. Maybe if we did get a remake, it would have a reworked script to atone for certain censorship in the original. Like the scene where Cyan is disgusted by a dancer asking for him to join her, she was actually a hooker in the Japanese original.

I played ffvi only two years ago i heard a lot about but i was 7 and started with ff7 and i didn't have interest in older games until recently (im 28) and god what a game. Even played in 2017 it is really an amazing game, the story is amazing the gameplay is cool, the characters are crazily fun, and danscing mad! The 7 is my favorite by heart but objectively i feel that 6 is better in some regards

@@sylvierose2799 I don't think 7 remake is an action RPG and some of the newer RPGs like world of ff, and some of the mobile games are JRPGs

One interesting point about her that's sort of glossed over in this video is the fact that she's actually absent (as a playable character, that is) from a fairly large portion of the game. I think it speaks volumes for the cast of characters in this game (I'm looking at you, Celes!) that they are able to carry the weight of the story so well during the times when Terra isn't in the party, and it's equally impressive how worth the wait it was for us, as the player, once she returned. A full quarter of a century after its release, FFVI remains the master class in quality JRPGs. Anyone contemplating a career in game design should consider a full study of this game -- and its characters -- mandatory.

7 and 8 are up there too with Chrono trigger......what made these games particularly incredible was really the editing of music for scene at hand........if bad music was played triste me it would not have the same feeling effect...

Terra’s story is heart-rendering. I never had any idea that this was her life. I played FF3 but since I had adult responsibilities to raise a family, I couldn’t spare the time to pursue the game. Thank you ever so much for creating this video. I loved it.

Terra's HD render looks so heavenly beautiful. 😍

Always loved the names Terra and Celes - Earth and Sky ♥ Also those concept illustrations of her are GORGEOUS. Yoshitaka Amano's vision for this game is just so intricate and ethereal, you can tell it was inspired by a genuine love for fairytale and fantasy art.. It sucks we never get to see his designs for FFVI outside of the small pixelated portraits. I honestly don't think any 3d remake can give justice to it. If anything the idea of remaking this game into a modern engine makes me anxious because if you know 3d animators, they always tend to follow popular design trends, such as making characters too cute and "anime" (yikes) There's simply too much love put into this classic, both aesthetically and musically. And I love it to the ends of the earth. If it ever gets a remake in the future, I hope to god it gets the remake it deserves.

PopTartNeko IF there was ever going to be a remake of 6, I'd love to see the visuals adapted into that cell-shaded, water-colored style (like 'Okami') using Amano's artwork. I don't need the "fully imersive, 3 dimensional open world!" Shite that modern developers are married to right now. Give us beautifully hand-painted pre-rendered backgrounds, and a cohesive and creative art design, and it'll sell just as well.

I realize I relate to Terra on so many levels, caught in the paradox of life and continually striving for balance and meaning - often times feeling imprisoned by the duality. But in the end, the fight for freedom from that conflict was worth it when she sacrificed herself - and was ultimately given another chance at life and newfound liberty.

I'm a little late to the party but I just wanted to add that Biggs and Wedge didn't actually die. There was an article in a magazine around 1996 I believe that revealed the light from Tritoch (he'll always be Tritoch to me, not Valigarmanda) teleported them to the Chrono Trigger dimension. The Biggs and Wedge you see in that game are the very same Biggs and Wedge from this game!

So baised on what I have learned from this, Terra is the Batman or Batwoman of this world, and to top it off her enemy IS the joker. Now that's what I call the best final fantasy series choice. 😂👍

My favorite character is Celes, but I really love Terra. The developers were really successful at making a story where all the characters were so human and beautiful, and specially, they were able to make two girls have a natural and rich interaction, working as a foil for each other. I can't compare them, to me, they are both so important and interesting.

What a great video! I remember playing this game and falling in love with the story and all of the characters. From the diabolical Kefka to Terra! I would love to see a video on Shadow. Thanks for making a great video. :)

As a 40 year old gamer I will say with honor that this title is the most iconic game in my memory.

You forgot to mention that Terra was originally supposed to be 20 years old young man, with Locke as his friendly rival, in a Cecil/Kain sort of way, and she also supposed to die at the end of the game along with the rest of her kind, due to the disappearance of magic, but the creators decided it was ''going too far''.

It would have been hailed as the most depressing game in history, there's already too much negativity the world needs a positive outlook even if it's not realistic

I hate the art for the tablet/steam version. The original sprites were so beautifully done, and the tablet/steam characters are so clunky. They don't lend to the story at all. It is a shame they didn't put as much effort into the best ff as they did with the others.

Thanks for making this video. Terra has such a great character arc. Also, more than any other FF character, I think her theme is the best at conveying the emotions of her character.

My Favorite FF game !

I've seen lots of comments about Terra's hair color, but honestly I could care less. Green or Blonde, or what not, she's pretty anyway.

Wow, I hadn't thought about the FF6 story in ages... I don't think I could properly express my thoughts on Terra (but her theme is GORGEOUS!), but she does see quite a lot of character development. I got quite invested in her story arcs. I still have to confess that my favourite part of FF6 is likely the music for the world of Espers. We get too little music in 7/8, honestly...

Terra is my first waifu, FF6 was one of the first games I played when I got my PS1 (and also the first FF game I ever played). I always wished they would remake the game. Even if I can't afford to play it, I just wanna see Terra in 3D in her own game.

Terra feels like a reflection of myself really. I relate to her strongly, both in seeking to understanding her own emotions and identity but also the way her past played out. I also only knew one of my parents, i repressed a lot (which is similar to how the slave crown affected her). I have parts of myself i am still learning to accept, just like she struggled to come to terms with the esper part of her. We are both kind and brave souls in our quest to understand ourselves.

If we do get a FF6 remake, i want a prequel included! I want the Missing Years of Terra filled in the blanks and see Kefka's origins. those 16 years are crucial to understanding one of the best heroes and villains of the FF franchise. Was Terra the only person who was being tested for magic? Were there others who tried to escape or rebel? What was the straw that broke Kefka's patience and put the slave crown on her? What was the world like before the empire started mass producing magitek? How many other nations fell before the EMpire's current state? Can we see a more fleshed out Wolf of Balance this time before the World of Ruin happens? SO MANY QUESTIONS!! I must have them answered.

I would love for you to do Kefka and Ultimecia sometime! Again loving these lore videos!

Actually, Kefka was more psychotic than anything. See, Gestahl was evil, but Kefka was literally insane - and lacked any sort of conscience whatsoever. But, see, Kefka became insane due to a psychotic break from the Empire's Magitek experiments. He wasn't always that way. Originally, he was simply a soldier in the Imperial army.

This was the 1st game that had a profound and emotional effect on me in the FF franchise. As a result a drew me in to the series even further branching into final fantasy 7 ,8 and eventually 10. I had played the original final fantasy but this was the 1st game ever that made me cry because it's a video game that touched me profoundly.

Terra is just the best character of all FF series.

Can u guys do Warrior of Light next? He was given some decent background in duodecim and there where novels of ff1 that did give the warriors names so he would be an interesting one to cover.

Final fantasy 7 might be the most popular game but final fantasy 6 is by far the best...

Terra is like goddess tier leading lady. And this is coming from someone who absolutely *LOVES* Yuna from FFX1 & FFX2. Terra's just so much more relatable. On the other hand, what's with that character art of her (example: at 19:50) where she's got her sword drawn!? The look on her face is like something you'd expect of her while still under the control of the slave crown.

Great Video Would love to see the origins for Kefka and Nanaki.

She's Kind of Like Uhtred from The Last Kingdom Who Wants To Reclaim His Home Bebbanburg But Failed and He Cares about The People He wants to Help Them.

Oh, how amazing it would be see an animation of the Returners fight against the Statue of the Gods, and then Kefka, defeating him. Admittedly, I've always been a sucker for the idea of seeing a turn-based RPG fight in animated form.

FFVI is one of my favorite games. It has an amazing story. I'm torn on whether Square-Enix should do a remake. On one hand if done right it would be amazing, however with the recent news on how the FFVII remake is going I'm a bit nervous. Especially with the horrible sprites and graphics on the PC/Mobile release of FFVI. If they can't get sprites right I'm afraid what they'll do to FFVI with 3D graphics. Just give me an HD sprite release of FFVI like they did with the PSP version of FFIV. That's all I need.

Man I love the art of Final Fantasy 6, just so much style

I was 9 years old when I got ff6 for Christmas in 1994. I had enjoyed the other JRPGs at the time but all the women were the damsels in distress type. I have loved terra ever since due to how strong, capable and wise she became. Also, a lot of Star Wars parallels!

I swear Terra is like one of THE strongest protagonists in the franchise: great STR stats and could wield Swords, amazing MAG stats and could naturally learn Ultima, amazing HP survival and can equip heavy armour and can turn Super Saiyan

To this day that is my favorite game. And Terra is my favorite character. If you equip her right, she is unstoppable.

Biggs and Wedge weren’t killed, they were transported to the Chrono Trigger Universe - look it up, it was revealed in an interview. Nice video though, good job!

It was an interview in V-Jump magazine.

Silly story but whatever. When I was young and not out, I remember playing FF6 and being in tears during one scene specifically. When Terra is in the care of Ramuh in Zozo, the party asks what's wrong with her- he says: "She is afraid of who she is, and that is a painful thing." The level of OOMPH in just that text really spoke to me.

I love her so much Also FF6 kinda reminds me of Eureka Seven anime which I also love

Terra is the true main character of FF VI

Larsa Solidor, or vincent Valantine is my vote for the next one. (love the story between lucretcia, vincent and hojo)

Her background make me think in Gwen Tennyson of Ben 10, as both girls learn to use magic, but ignoring the true reason to have the power. And later, both learned about their origins: Gwen is a hybrid human/anodite, and Terra is a hybrid human/esper. Even both are capable of transform in their alien and esper form, becoming a lot powerfull.

I would have probably never explored gaming if it weren't for Terra and Celes. Strong female characters made these games way more relatable.

I would kill to have them remake this game with modern graphics. It is still one of my all time favorites of any game. So much story and heart.
