At 8:10, the moment this ost started playing, I got hyped even more during my play-through. Definitely one of my favorite boss fights so far.

The fucking “accept the truth” to trigger the limit break shouldn’t have been that good but oh my god, the amount of shills it sent me is genuinely indescribable. What a fucking awesome boss fight, I love bosses that fight by the same toolset as the player, and this is easily the best one I’ve seen. And how fitting it is that the moment you accept Ifrit’s limit break, you absolutely CURBSTOMP this fight. Holy crap what an awesome game.

This boss is one of the best exemple of how introduce a new mechanic to the player, both through story and gameplay.

I’m telling you this fight alone made me know this was game of the year 😮

Did you get to Bahamut? That alone is worth $70 for the game.

8:10 is so fucking perfect. You think you took down Infrit only to find out Infrit was actually you all along, something Clive has denied for so long. The ghost he’s been chasing has been inside him this whole time. Infrits true form ends up looking like Clive himself because Infrit and Clive are one in the same, a truth his denied even when it’s stating right in front him. A great representation of the battle against the “ego”.

Soken is a musical genius! The timing on this was perfect!

"I am a Shadow, the true Self" - Shadow Clive, probably

This game is no where near GOTY, it’s Game of the Decade. After the boss fight I literally had to step away for a second and just take in what just happened. Such an amazing game

I really like this one Ifrit been fighting like a wild beast biting and scratching it's foe. Now here he just start throwing hand like an actual bar fight amazing.

If Max0r ever covers this game I hope he brings back V2's voice actor for this part.

This entire sequence and boss fight could EASILY have been the end of a game in and of itself. Between the soundtrack, the internal battle of the main character, and the sequences in general. Absolutely phenomenal and will go down as one of my all-time favorite sequences in any form of media.

This is a AMAZING fight. The one with Garuda is my fav so far..

Can't wait to get this on Friday (Had to set the game aside because I didn't have the cash, but tomorrow I will, found a copy at my local pawn shop for 35 bucks and it's on sale on PSN for the exact same price)

Story is so fire along with the music

In all my years of playing FF, I have never played as Ifrit before. Until now.

At 14min mark my ps5 and tv turned off probably due to high output of graphic settings, unfortunately had to redo fight

Persona 4 meet final Fantasy, I love it

Clive finally accepting who he is and what he's done and semi-priming is by far the most hype thing I've seen in a good while. I think I managed to evoke every known soyface at once when Find the Flame kicked in, that song is downright incredible and I want it injected straight into my bloodstream. If I had any complaints, it would only be that it happens too late in the fight to REALLY get into it, since you flatten the Shadow's remaining 30% or so HP in a minute flat with a permanent limit break and the proceeding Ifrit on Ifrit battle is a simple series of QTEs. Still though, absolutely singular in every way. To think this is still relatively early in the game, goodness knows where they go from here to top this.

First boss to actually kill me since I been playing all the way up to this point 😂😂😂 I got tired of winning every fight.

This is defo a top 3 moment in the game.

Literally just finished this fight now, had to jump on to relive it again 😂 Arguably best FF boss fight in the last 20 years? Im prettt sure there are gunna be even better ones coming but that was ALMOST as epic as Penance

I was skeptical of FF16 and Clive before the game came out. But he has become me favorite main character in any game. I don’t care if his name is Clive. His name could be Perceval or Humphrey, don’t care! Game of the Decade for me.

As a fan of the Avatar: The Last Airbender series. I’ll like to imagine each character of The Gaang with a Eikon. Garuda = Aang Shiva = Katara Odin = Sokka Titan = Toph Ifrit = Zuko I just like the idea. I hope someone does a crossover fanfic in due time. ☺️

Having known that this particular sequence was coming from the start, I am not altogether unsatisfied with it, though I do confess I was hoping for a bigger, more epic mental breakdown on Clive's part, maybe make him confront the negative parts of his personality (jealousy, parental issues, his initial rejection from Phoenix, etc.) a bit more directly before the fight. Still, what we got WAS good.

When you awaken your power granted by a supernatural being by accepting the truth of who you are and fighting a shadow of yourself… *I’ll Face Myself intensifies*
