What a class! It’s easy to fall into the “upside” rabbit hole for any prospect, but Sam has said it himself: the most valuable NBA trait is consistency. Upperclassman know all about consistency, & wing lead-ball handlers like Terrance Shannon Jr, Dalton Knecht, & Tristan DaSilva have proven they’re capable of excelling night in and night out. If I’m @ the back of the lottery, I’m thoroughly evaluating the footage of those 3 names to see what is translatable at the next level, especially in a draft like this where you’re trying to salvage any value out of a pick.

I think that prevailing wisdom of upperclassmen = more NBA ready.... is kinda bullshìt. Look at last year's draft. O-Max Prosper was the older, "NBA ready" Mavs draft pick. Derrick Lively was one of the youngest players in the draft, but had good upside "for a few years down the track". The way the season played out was the exact opposite. Lively was a huge contributor on a very good team that went to the NBA finals.

@@brodiestephens419OMax prosper is a pretty raw wing and that was known going in, minimal 3’s next to no stocks but had potential with his athleticism. I wouldn’t compare him to the three names I said. The center position has been successfully played by true freshmen for a while now. Turns out protecting the rim and catching lobs has the lowest learning curve releative to the gaurd/forward spots. But Lively excelled and the mavs should be excited. Jamie Jaquez and Brandon Podz are names more comparable to the three I listed above. Lead handlers with tons of success. In a draft so uncertain, it could pay to select the known commodity

No disrespect to you guys but I feel like if your gonna do a mock draft with 2 people that the other person should get more input at least on some of the picks. I also think in general the other guy needs to do a better job of advocating for his points

If the Knicks got Kolek and Scheierman, signed goga w the mle and brought back og…even if they lost ihart; my goodness they’re loaded for the next 3/4 years. That team is still relatively young too. Randle would be the oldest player in the rotation at 29. All the nova guys are in their primes.

Sam, I love your work more than anyone on Earth when it comes to the NBA draft.... but you kinda ignored Bryce's input in this episode. You perhaps could have set up this episode a bit differently. Maybe if you ran each pick one by one saying "This is the intel I've heard, so this is who we're picking.... Bryce what would you think if this was the pick?" When you asked Bryce his thoughts then ignored what he said... it seemed a bit frustrating for Bryce and was a little tricky to watch. I completely get it. It's extra tough for you because you (more than anyone in the world) actually HEAR AND KNOW what these teams are doing.... but you can't say any of that on stream before the draft happens. Tough spot, and I love ya work, as always mate. Maybe just something to think about in terms of format for the same time next year. ❤️❤️

I think Knecht is just too uninspiring of a pick for where Charlotte is in their rebuild right now. They need to keep taking swings. If the board shook out that way I think holland/cody would make sense. Even Devin Carter I think has more upside and a better fit with their current core than knecht

  • @astrahl

It is always funny watching non NY guys trying to cover the Knicks. Bridges was who they wanted not PG. Knicks still have all their 2024 picks. They still kept their roster. They will lose Burks and iHart. That's it. They most likely will take Shannon jr. and Holmes II/Edey or Missi. Unless the Knicks have a wraith of injuries the next few seasons. They have core of 26 years old players on friendly deals with Brunson and Randle doing extensions. You draft guys over value picks. 😂 You hope your picks turn into what the Knicks now have for a core. Also they bringing over Rokas. The fact that you tried to pigeon holed guys you like says it all.😂
