I was on a drive when the album dropped so I was just listening to it when this song came on. I got about 45 seconds in before I pulled over and looked it up to see if there was a music video haha! Best decision ever!

he turned a half hour mundane existential struggle into a 4 minute song that feels like both a lifetime and a nanosecond in time

I watched this when it debuted. I has no idea what I was in for, just excited to hear a new song. I was so engrossed in the story and the video that I still recall not even realizing how long the video was. When it finished I was just in awe. I’ve since watched the video and listened to the whole Clouds mixtape many times…but when I come back to this video, I continue to get chills and an adrenaline rush..I’ve never experienced something like this from a music video.

When he says (or pretty much yells) "here comes another guy!" I get the chills every time! He captures the panic and terror you'd feel in a situation like that so well. It's not easy to go in a recording booth and do this. People don't understand. You have to put yourself there in that moment mentally for it to sound authentic, and NF can do this in a way most artists cannot. His videos are always at LEAST 50% rap/50% cinematic, if not more cinematic than music sometimes! ✌️ His new song will blow your mind btw, it's called Hope.

Such a crazy video, showcasing NFs story telling and overall vision. Love your thoughts from a filmmaker pov. really interesting tidbits about how some stuff would be done

I love this song, because its not trying to be too large-scale. It's not a story about a perfect hero who's trying to save the world. It's about a relatable burn-out who just happened to be caught up in a life-changing event at a place she's probably been a million times. It's amazing to see her work the courage up to do something, which many people might not have done if in her situation. The way that some things tie together (like the friend's boyfriend), while also intentionally leaving loose ends is really cool, and makes it feel more realistic. The POV shots only help add to that, and this feels like something that anyone could be unfortunate enough to experience.

I also love how she went in to get cigarettes and that's one of the things the robbers were after. And that she considers changing her life, but again and again, she doesn't change (starburst, and that she can't afford to keep buying energy drinks but continues to bc she won't change. That life event hopefully changes her forever.

Something amazing about this song is that I first listened to it without the video, so the lyrics and his way of singing it are so on point that I could visualize the whole thing in my mind. But then, I watched the video, and it was everything I had pictured and more

I'm a huge fan of NF and it always makes me happy to see it when other people enjoy his content

The climax and resolution of this story make me cry uncontrollably every time. It's so incredibly done. And shouts to the actors!

I'm in my last semester of the university studying televison production assistant and we have to make a last shortfilm as an exam, I just found NF somewhere at the second half of 2022, and just became my favourite. Now I just found your channel and your videos inspires me so much very very grateful for the explanations it helps me understand how a video/film works. I got so motivated to make it but still struggling to make an exciting story that I can make it real 😄 Thank you very much for all of your work, keep it up, that's how I call quality content😁❤

Man the switch to the lo-fi after nf was one of the more comical things I've seen. Lol great video man and NF is an artist for sure.

NF just makes me cry in so many songs. This one gets me because it is so intense.

I love the change...in the beginning we get lessons on lighting, camera setup etc, then he gets enthralled in the story! So good!

This entire music video is an allusion to one of his lines, "Don't know if I'm making stories or music videos", and it's really beautiful. I love your analysis on these and how you pick them apart.

Why and Leave me alone in my opinion, they have very good music videos, even though they are a year apart from the release, "Leave me alone" seems like a continuation of the "Why" video, so I would like to see your review. I listened to this music more than approximately 6 times on different occasions before I actually watched its music video. I didn't picture the protagonist as female and it wasn't as early as it was in the video. Yet the 'story' was still so so captivating to me. I loved it so much The video blew my mind then and every other infinite time I've watched it. Whoever came up with the character switch is brilliant.
