Just reading this comment I'm cracking up. A friend and I quote that at each other all the time

"I'm trapped in a glass case of emotion!" That might be my favorite line in the history of cinema, and the Afternoon Delight comes totally out of nowhere. I love this movie. Top 5 comedy movie for me

I swear Will Ferrel was on a crazy run in the early to mid 2000s. Almost every movie is a quotable classic lol

The fact that this movie is where we get the phrase "THAT escalated quickly" is hilarious to me.

For my money, the "Newsman Brawl" and the rendition of "Afternoon Delight" are two of the greatest scenes in comedy history. Great choice and a great reaction (as always). 👍

I saw that! .. Brick killed a guy! This came out 1-2 years after Two Towers came out. An Ent gets set on fire in the climatic fight, you could hear the audience gasp 😧 as he stumbled around. The guy on fire is 100% mimicking and the music even sort of does a LOTR motif so when this came out, it was pretty obvious. And even if Planet of the Apes came out 30+ years earlier, riding horses to throw ropes on people is pretty iconic 😜 For reals--how old is this movie? 'Welp.. that escalated quickly' and (esp after trailer reactions) 'I'm in a glass case of emotion!' are 100% millennial lexicon. I'd say it's not even 'sweet references bro' lexicon just actual integrated. but maybe sweet references is all millennial lexicon is .... 🤔

Christina Applegate has such great comedic timing and delivery. She certainly had a lot of practice on the set of Married with Children. I used to watch 'Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter is Dead' often as a kid as it came on HBO quite a bit for years after it came out because it was a popular rental and somewhat of a cult classic now.

Both she and Will Ferrel were on SNL. She and David Spade are the teens Chris Farley is (inspirationally) screaming at, in the skit written by Saul Goodman. I watched Anchorman abroad with my ESL friend. It was friggin awesome that even in a language he was only a student in, he was 🤣 the whole time. I gave context to Will Ferrel as a comedian who was on 'this famous sketch show SNL.' elaborating made me realize how freaking huge SNL's influences are. I mentioned a Ferrell skit for a kids show that spelled the letters 'UCK' adding Ferrel's 'F', only to be tackled by Tim Meadow. "Oh yeah that guy Tim Meadow was on Brick's own show. And he was in a movie Mean Girls... with Tina Fey who wrote it! She's also in SNL. She wrote another show with Rachel Dracht....when I was little, Will Ferrel and Rachel Dracht's skit 'the lovers' made me die 😂 every single time... It's objective proof that the label 'lover' doesn't sound quite right in English. It was usually Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore stuck with them during the Lovers. Oh plus the show started Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Kristen Wiig, Mike Meyers, Bill Hader, Fred Amristan who's in this movie, Chris Parnell who's in the movie, he's also in this rap about cupcakes with Andy Samberg who's also from SNL-' Talking about SNL was like an ouroboros. Even as a French guy, my friend was still hyped to see Vince Vaughn, Jack Black, etc even if he was less familiar. I basically didn't have to translate anything. Menustration-smelling bears, Sex Panther's fallible infallibility, co-people, I love lamp, the sacred glass case of emotion. I wish I understood a second language to lmao at those kind of jokes. (We also watched LOST and I had to translate a whole lot.) I translated 'baloney' for obvious reasons. He mostly got but asked for clarity on his future favorite catchphrases "I want you to fix my chopper before I stop your goofy ass" plus "I wanna polka 🔪" We'd be in class, totally normal times, bored people trying to correct their Chinese writing, and suddenly he'd say to one of our American classmates in a menacing voice 'I wanna polka 😠'

I was in high school when this movie came out. All of my friends and I could quote it from front to back. Watched it a thousand times, haha. Hilarious movie.

So many quotable lines in this movie. Every summer I say (at least once): “It’s so damn hot, milk was a baaaad choice!”

Man 2004 was a gold year for Comedies like Anchorman, Mean Girls, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, Dodgeball or Napoleon Dynamite

Great Odin's ravens! I love this movie. The verbal (and physical) fighting between Ron & Veronica is too funny, every line of Brick's is perfection, and the news team rumble is the height of cameo absurdity - two dozen comedians fake brawling in an alleyway with increasingly outlandish weapons had to be a great day of filming.

The funniest thing is that even though they went hard into surrealist and wacky humor, the shift in anchor persons in the US in the late 70's and early 80's really was a bizarre period in TV history. Most of the Western world had women in the news already, with the exceptions being the US and UK.

How skewed our perception becomes with age. I still think of this as a "contemporary" comedy, but it's almost 20 years old. Jeez. That said, this is one of my favorite comedies. This & Zoolander hit sort of near each other, and they both summed up a certain side of my sense of humor. Sadly, the sequel didn't really work. It's aimless, and recycles a lot of the first film's best jokes.

One of the top ten comedies ever for me.

Couple of these guys are in Best In Show ... which I am shocked that you haven't reviewed yet. Best in Show is definitely in my top five of all time comedies.

Christopher Guest is a genius. Mighty Wind is great too, but Best in Show hands down brilliant!

I once dominated a round of trivia night at a bar due to my encyclopedic knowledge of this movie's quotes LOL. One of the top quotable movies ever, for sure.

Been playing flute since middle school and he’s definitely not playing the right notes, but his posture and embouchure are kind of spot on so it’s definitely possible he’s a player, or has played before

Christina Applegate is so underrated, acting and comedy!

I was in high school, actively studying TV broadcasting, when this movie came out. I used to say the Human Torch line as a fun warmup before my radio newscasts. Also: “I just burned my tongue.” Fun fact: the narrator is longtime broadcaster/journalist Bill Kurtis, a Kansas native.

Will Farrel has some of the best comedic timing in comedy, he's not the funniest or best comedian but his timing is so good it easily overshadows it.

If you want an even bigger laugh, please watch the movie with commentary. There are two or three, and they are hilarious. Trust Me

One of the best comedies of all time. So many quotable lines.

I saw this in the theater and was not prepared for the type of experience I was in for. I remember gasping out loud during the litter scene, and then I laughed out loud at myself.

Funny way to show the struggle of the 1st anchorwomen!

I was born in San Diego myself! I lived there for 7 years growing up, then I moved back there again in late 2010 after my move from Redlands (a.k.a. San Bernardino).

Hands down a hilarious comedy movie!! In case you didn't realize it, this was a comedy about the 70's News era. You were correct James, it was chock full of great cameos and bit parts with so many awesome actors. Thank you so much for watching and reacting to this!!

I saw this in theaters and when Ron said he'd punch her in the ovary, I flinched like a dude getting kicked in the nuts! My favorite line is from Brick about the golf tournament! I laughed so hard it hurts 🤣

Saw this on opening night in 2004. I remember it had me laughing to the point of tears, and not many movies do that. I think the next time I laughed that hard at the theater was in 2006 with Talladega Nights then again in 2008 with Tropic Thunder.

Thanks for this fantastic reaction to one of my favorite films. In 2004, my first date with the love of my life was going to this movie. I’ve seen it a million times since. It’s pretty much flawless.

From what I've heard, the anchorman character was based on someone that anchored at what used to be a local station for me. He used to do a segment at the end of the broadcast, where he would read various interesting articles from various tabloids. No love interest, though. He had a sense of humor, and would sometimes drop jokes & puns. His anchor knew how to handle him, though. She had a good sense of humor, too. Now, if you'd like a Will Farrell film, that has a bit more story, you might like one called "Stranger Than Fiction". It's somewhat of a comedy, I suppose, but it's far more serious than most of his films. It shows an interesting side of him. I suspect, it could remind you of Truman show, a bit, but not nearly as elaborate or intense. It's that type of comedy, though, where it's less about gags, and more about characters & their environment.

Coming home from work on a Monday and seeing this in my Subs feed is a real treat!!

Forgot to mention for Will Ferrell at his best, you should check out Stranger Than Fiction, a movie who's premise you are sure to absolutely love, also the supporting cast is pretty damn amazing with Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Emma Thompson!

I love seeing people react to this movie for the first time. Non-stop laughing. Everyone in this movie is on their A-game. Also, can we give more props to Christina Applegate and her comedic chops. You can see it in Married With Children, but I think people get too caught up with Kelly Bundy as a sex-symbol to recognize the comedic timing. Amazing.

Me and my friends (and most guys my age) quoted this movie ad nauseam in the mid/late 2000's. Looking back, people must've found us so obnoxious 😂

This movie is such a classic and still hits its highs so perfectly, even by todays standards. One of my personal favorites for sure 🙏

The first time I watched this movie was in hospital, on my last day of chemotherapy. I had headphones on and was laughing my ass off, while everyone else stared at me.

One of my favorite scenes in the film has to be this: Ron: “I’m in a glass case of emotion!” Brian: “He’s gonna put Corningstone on. HE’S GONNA PUT CORNINGSTONE ON!!!!!!!!!!” *Cut to Ron running back to the station* Ron: “I’ve got to do the news!!!!” *Ron yeets random person out of the way* LMFAO That whole scene made me dying of hysterical laughter to the point where I was in tears 😂😂😂 This film will go down in history as one of the funniest movies of the 21st century. Great reaction! Hope you react to the sequel 👍🏻

Yeah it's definitely not as consistent as the first imo but it's still top tier comedy with many memorable moments

Another great Chris Parnell comedy - Hot Rod, made by and starring Lonely Island

This is my all time favourite film, no matter how many times I have seen it I still laugh just as much!!

I was a freshman in college when this came out, and there wasn’t a single person who couldn’t quote this movie

The guy that plays Champ is David Koechner. He's great in everything. For him in a stealing every scene his is in comedy that also has a young Zach Galifianakis look for "Out Cold". Its a snowboard "zany comedy" that I would call a guilty pleasure movie, but I don't feel guilty loving it.

So many iconic lines in this film! 😆

i saw this movie in the theaters. I left with ribs so sore i could hardly sleep that night, Easily the funniest movie i ever saw in a theater.

I was working in an office around the time this came out, and it was pretty much back to back quotes for months - you can actually buy Sex Panther as a novelty gift.

Before cable, it was definitely like this. He retired a little while ago, but I’m pretty sure one of them is Philadelphia’s Jim Gardner. And the American Psycho version of this is Mad Men.

Man this movie reaction was awesome. You just came out of nowhere with that poodle line, made me laugh dude. Rewatching this made me miss the comedic actors, especially Ben stiller. If you ever get a chance to check out the Disney movie heavy weight do it, he's awesome in it.
