Film Scoring in Reaper (Tutorial)

Reaper is a very powerful program for film scoring. It's a bit tricky to get started, so in this tutorial I show you how to set up reaper for film scoring, and how to handle video inside of reaper in general.

This is a fantastic tutorial! Been scoring in Reaper for a while - such a versatile bit of software, and seems to be vastly underrated. The other thing I find useful for tempo mapping, is that you can hit ctrl + click on a tempo marker and drag it to change the prior tempo, so you can use that to also line up changes without the trial and error tempo changing by editing the marker each time. Really great work!

You can also highlight a specific region and insert new measure (time signature) and reaper will suggest a tempo that will fit within your highlighted area depending on how many bars you want.

Thank you! I've run into some of these problems and am grateful you provided the solutions. Another thing that wasn't mentioned is that you can make a gradual change from one tempo marker to another by selecting the option in the Tempo Marker dialogue box (Gradually transition tempo to next marker). Thanks again!

@@Adrian_ when moving the cursor left/right with arrows, the scroll rate of the playhead is continuous in the native install, instead of being snap/quantized as shown in your video. i.e. goal: single press of left arrow = leftward movement to next left gridline subdivision. does that make sense?

Pedro, você tem que baixar os encodificadores e decodificadores de vídeo pro REAPER. Basta instalar o VLC Media Player e ele tem os arquivos necessários. 1. Instale o VLC e abra-o uma única vez. 2. Feche todos os programas e reinicie a máquina. 3. Entre no REAPER, Ctrl+P (Preferences) → Video/Import/Misc → verifique se a extensão 'vlc' é a primeira no 'Video decoder priority'. Só isso :), qualquer dúvida, dê um toque.
