Steelers DB: thank you for explaining this so well & the way you use videos. I don’t consider myself ADD but some prominent former players drive me nuts the way they pause in tiny increments, talk for a long time & never really run the whole play at once. Your video has a nice flow. Other fans can give their opinions too. IMHO you can’t run a whole play too many times whether on slow-mo while speaking or at speed multiple at the beginning & end. Thanks again for explaining how Smith does these things. Really hoping Russ & Justin immerse themselves in Smith’s offense because they’re not really West Coast timing guys anyway. It seems like these routes also put enough defenders downfield to give a mobile QB a great chance to tuck it & take off laterally. I hope they’re under center a lot & have a violent offensive line that explodes off the snap & pushes around opponents & use play action & deep shots after wearing down opponents. IMHO there’s a lot of “safety LBs” on defenses that could be worn down by a committee of heavy RBs. Steelers offense needs to stay on the field & wear down opponents so that our excellent defense can play from a lead & hunt when opponents switch to a drop back game trying to keep up on points. I know that Russ that Justin have some issues but Smith’s scheme fits them & it can be fun to watch if they can sustain drives.

As a falcons fan, good breakdown. Steelers got a good OC for their roster. Don't worry about tight end use. The biggest question mark is QB, but honestly he wasn't given a chance in Atlanta. Fired going into the one off-season you could argue being weak at QB aligns with options. Just my opinion. Think this will work out really well with Pat

Would love to see some stuff on his time in Tennessee, particularly how he got the best out of an average quarterback like Tannehill, and how ne blocked up the running game. As a pure OC he actually performed at a very high level in Tennessee. I think the workload as HC was too overwhelming for him and it caused his play calling to struggle. It’s not a sexy hire, but if the play calling duties and playbook are his singular focus I believe he actually brings a lot to the table.
