    Jordannn, i have a questionnnnnn. in the scene that they fight after dinner. It's one shot, but I feel like the camera is moving, like shaking, did you notice it? or is just me? And if so, why do you think it is? I feel like it's unprofessional, but I don't think Taylor neglects something like that, im pretty sure she hired people who know what they're doing. What you think? Thanks

    This is Taylor Swift's song I relate to the most. When I was 18 years old, I met a guy, 7 years older than me, and it was all amazing. He lived in another city, and on my first night visiting him, we went to his sister's house. Everything was wonderful while we were together and I felt he was the love of my life. 2 years later, out of the blue, he asks for a break, and I just don't understand why, but I accept. A month after this "break", I look for him, hoping to pick up where we left off, but he breaks up with me. I confess that I was so numb, that I didn't feel so much pain at that moment. A few days later he calls me by text message and wants explanations as to why I was talking to a friend (who he knew) while we were on break (it was just my friend trying to calm me down about everything). At that moment, I felt the pain. Looking back now, I still don't feel like my old self. I'm 28 years old now, and I still cry to this song every time... Thanks to anyone who reads this, I never let this story out and this video made me want to open up and try to free myself from my demons.

    Something similar happened to me when I was 16. The guy was 4/5 years older than me and extremely jealous and possessive about me and my friends or “who I was looking” anywhere we go. He breakup with me calling me crazy and make some threats (i have to go to another house for a while) and looking back, I lost a little piece of me at that time… its hard, for 2 years I just cant like someone without the fear that everything happens again.

    This song is basically Swiftie's anthem at this point. Taylor said that the fans changed her perspective of the song, from feeling pain everytime she play this on stage, to remembering us screaming the lyrics and crying our heart together with her. I remember first time I listen to this song, I can picture it in my head because the 5 minutes version was already detailed. And now with this short film, I finally can see the whole picture moving (especially with the line dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light), thats exactly how I picture it on the song.

  • @CunninghamSydney
    @CunninghamSydney2 жыл бұрын

    I actually really love the breakup shot where it's only focusing on Sadie, because at that point Dylan is pulling away from part of the picture. By breaking up he's now removing himself from their story and she's no longer the "main character" she's the ONLY character and by not showing him and his reaction I think its also a great visual representation to show that that feeling of aloneness that Sadie has by focusing only on her reaction.

    It's also the things that she doesn't say. At The Breaking Point, when Sadie's character comes in, she's wearing a man's shirt - likely Dylan's character. In my experience, a man's shirt is donned when you stay over and have nothing else to put on, inferring she'd been there for a while. He waited 'til after and then broke up with her, which just... breaks my heart. 'cos that shit hurts, man. It really does.

    You know how sometimes you visualize a music video when you're listening to a song? Taylor got really close to how I imagined this one being. The lyrics being so vivid definitely helps. His point about the translation of the lyrics into visuals made me feel a little vindicated since I told someone that I wanted to make music videos similar to this (heavy on the storytelling) and they called me "basic". I'm glad someone whose opinion I value kinda agrees with me in a way!

    I was never a Swifty, but I was riveted when I first heard this on SNL last Saturday. I immediately KZreadd it and saw the film. I’ve been shook for days. This clip cuts deep for those who have experienced a toxic relationship filled with love bombing and gaslighting. I hoe awards are given for short films.

    I still Amazed with how Taylor can accidentally create such masterpiece song with her bandmates. She said on SNL that she was in sad and gloomy mood in speaknow rehearsal, and then she just pick her guitar and play along the chords and just let go what she feel inside, and then her bandmates join with her. Thank God her bandmate record it and her mother keep the record. She is indeed a genius.

    I literally cannot stop thinking about this. It put the same hole in my chest that a real breakup does. The kitchen scene was stomach churning. Made me realize that the feeling never really goes away. You just forget about it for a while until something replicates it so perfectly, bringing you back in time. She is an artistic genius and the acting is impeccable.

    This song is just hits me. 2 years ago when I was 19 I met this guy who is 9 years older than me. He is basically the HR at the place where I worked part-time job. He started texting me and after my part-time contract finished we started going out and become exclusive. It was fine at first but as time goes on I realized our values doesn't match. I barely gets his friends. Just like in the All Too Well short film, when he is with his friends he is acted a little bit different and his friends are all older than me. He wants our relationship to be more public on social media while I like to keep things private, but I follow along because I feel like maybe its (keeping things private) just a facade that I created to protect myself. But turns out it doesn't. I realize overtime that he is so misogynistic and manipulative. Doubting yourself when you are speaking out because your partner is much older than you so I end up apologizing for things that was not even my fault. Feels like you are the one that is immature when you are just stating what you want out of the relationship. I am so thankful I have the courage to end it even after 1 year of dating. Ps. The dance therapy part is me dancing to this song in my room trying so hard not to cry

    It sounds like you may have dated a narcissistic man. And doubting yourself all the time is possibly a sign of emotional trauma from narcissistic abuse. Unfortunately a lot of women stay trapped in toxic relationships, but I'm glad you noticed the warning signs and had the courage to get out.

Her first directorial debut was on "the man" music video in 2019 I think and then directed "cardigan" and "willow" from last year too. This is from memory so there could be more lol And I've always wanted to go to Portugal, it's a beautiful country! (hope you don't mind me commenting)

    I loved this reaction, it wasn't focusing obsessively on who the song is about but rather focusing on Taylor's skill as a film maker and what a wonderful story teller she is and how her song captured real relationships so well, how relatable this is. I loved this. Some of the swifties are being really immature and only focusing on bashing Jake, I think they should grow up and appreciate Taylor and her song, celebrate this masterpiece of a film x music video rather than focusing on who she wrote this about a decade ago.
