Olden days people had money, so they could afford to think about design for the technology they had. Unfortunately starting with boomers they partied too hard and bankrupted everything without thinking about the future generations, So now we can only afford to stamp out the bare minimum of stuff for the tech we have now. We are too poor to decorate in pretty colours.

@@arunashamal not at all. What an iditotic statement. Back then things were made to last for a life time. Later with cheap plastic companies started competing for lower prices and throw away culture started. It is more complex than that. But it definitely doesnt have to do with income.
i wish i had thrift stores like all the ones you went to. so cool dude.
Bro, you got me to leave my DSLR alone and start shooting film. Next thing you know, I go to a thrift shop and pick up a Nikon L35AF for $7... My first film camera! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Random but if you are ever interested, it would be awesome if you could put together certain “packages” that we viewers can buy and each package (at different prices) include a thrifted camera that was in the price range that we bought. I only suggest this because sadly I’ve never had any luck finding cameras or anything of the sort in the thrift stores around me and I’m in Austin which is pretty much known for its thrift shops. 😂

KingJvpes The Kodak Medalist is much desired by collectors; I would have picked that up. The Pentax K2 is also great, if in good working order. The SMC Takumar 85 is an amazing bargain! One small point: the lens came with its "original" lens hood, because "OEM" means something made by someone else but sold by another company as its own product, so it's quite the opposite.
✨Dope video as always! Great finds...I hate that thrift stores are starting to become more expensive now 😫 but I’m gone be forever thrifting regardless!
Yesss! Another thrifting episode. Love it!❤️
I found your channel just a few days ago and most of your videos are so awesome! I'm just starting to do film photography and some of your tip videos are really helpful! Keep up the great work! :D
Your videos always inspire me! Keep up the awesome thrifting and photography :)
I just started getting into film and I'm glad that you came to my area to thrift 😊Gives me hope that I'll find some good stuff

i have that pentax zx-50 and i rather like it!!! love this video, thrifting for cameras is always a fun time
You should of gotten the Nikon FM camera and I am sure you would of loved that camera. To be sure that Pentax lens is in very good condition, check the lens with a flashlight to look for dust, fungus, debris and oils on the aperture blades. Light dust should be okay since it won’t effect your photo. Close down the aperture blades and look at the metal lever on the back of the lens. Pull it with your finger and let it go to see if the aperture blades are snappy and that they are not stuck at the same time you would be able to see if their any oils on the aperture blades with the flashlight. Check your focus ring to see if it is not stuck at any focus area of the lens. Turn the aperture ring from lets say F2.8 to to maybe at maximum F22 to see if the apertures are working properly. Minor paint scuffs won’t effect the lens but yet check for dings on the lens such as the filter ring area. Peace, Flood!
That Pentax lens was a beauty! I have a bunch of SMC takumar lenses for my SP1000
Found your content today and you’re already my favorite channel

some cool 90s cameras there bro good digging
I LOVE thrifting for cameras! It’s usually hit or miss, but when I do find one I usually find great stuff. I found an Olympus OM10 with a manual adapter for a pretty low price compared to eBay, as well as a couple of other quirky cameras. I’m the kind of person who finds beauty in the quirks of cameras that others don’t enjoy, like the dreamy looking effect of plastic cameras/lenses. :)
so surprising how you find cameras at the thrift lmao!! here in orlando i can never find anything, just busted coffee machines. great vid!!

Great content. I've watched a few of your videos but I manly subbed for your voice.
literally found this channel looking up Sleepwalk by Johnny and Santo covers lol. Awesome to see you got your own thing going.
Wow, its hard to look for a film camera in where I live.. I wish it is that easy
How Awesome! I specially love the lens too! Now that is shopping. There are a lot of "wagwagan" here in our hometown - Baguio, Philippines but most of the stuff like cameras doesn't really work so it's sad and you can just use them as displays, oh well . . Those are great . . Another funny thing when you were looking at I think the pentax camera at one of the thirft shops, I heard women talking in Tagalog in the background and I was like what? I got distracted, sorry hahaha anyways enjoyed the video about thrifting and can't wait for you to show what those cameras are made of! Peace!
6:36 that lens is a multicoated takumar lens, I have the same one and to this day it’s the best lens I’ve ever used, has a tonal softness to it, yet very sharp and no distortion whatsoever
Nice finds man! I went thrifting the other day and think I found my best find yet! I found a fully functional X-700 for $4.99!! It’s really dirty so needs to be cleaned but all the speeds and apertures work and the inside is clean.
the Kodak Medalist for fifty bucks was a steal.....cool vid....thank you!
that first ecothrift you stopped by is literally a block away from my job lol. I go there everyday on my lunch break.
I loved this video ! i went to my local goodwill to pick up my first film camera but they didnt have anything. so i bought a Vivitar Point and Shoot on depop. it's going to be my first film camera and I'm so excited.

You alway's SCORE! Of course, I would never sell a excellent find like that Jonathan but that's just me. :)
Hey King try to do long exposure/ nd filter photography with film cameras. Always wanted to try that ND/long exposure since i took photography course in college 2009, never tried it, just only with digital.
so you went to the FF thrift shops and took all the cameras and equipment. Dope. Fairfield people
Someone in your background in that 1st store where u found a camera is speaking in filipino hahaha.. I can hear the lady talking in our language. Amazing 😁
That black Electro 35 is a nice camera!
dude! your contents are dope keep it up!! **** SUBSCRIBED ****
Hhhhmmm, you gave me an idea where to go and I’m liking it.
Very entertaining video. The Electros 35 generally are easy to fix.
*The 1st shop is always a bust!* But once you find one, there will be plenty more coming soon. Those thrift shops seem pretty darn expensive. It's disappointing when you can just find it one eBay for cheaper, even with shipping...
Enjoyed. More please.
Hey remember in 2011 u did that cover of sleep walk... it was pretty good
I visited a village near me where I recently discovered a care home that had a charity shop next to it. Its basically a hidden gem and i dont think many know its even there. Last weekend I found a fully functional Minolta 7000 for just £10 ;)
Lmao went to the exact same ecothrift a few days ago and found that same Pentax k1000. Walked out with an Olympus 35rc though.
I just got the sureshot supreme at a thrift store for about the same price. I got it just because you found one as well.

Hey, I thought you kicked that habit!!? That black Electro 35 was gorgeous! I like that 85mm lens too, let's see what you can do with it!
I'm Going to need that 85mm for my Pentax Spotmatic good sir. It will match my 50mm f1.4 spectacularly :D
I hope thrift shop like that existed in my country
I just left that eco in sacramento! How crazy
Just about cried when the Medalist was left behind. That is medium format.
That yashica has a stellar rated lens
I don't go too far out of my way for thrift stores unless I am going to be in the area. I literally live next door to a thrift store so I go in all the time. It is always a hit or miss. The other day I walked into a Goodwill and found a X-Rite eye-one lt for $0.99 (tested it out with DisplayCal and works just fine). The trick is to go often even the duds because they will all of the sudden have some goods. PS, also picked up a Minolta Freedom Zoom, best $10 point and shoot ever.
i could never get this lucky!
2:25 VW Variant karavan? I was almost born in that car... 14:30 I was waiting patiently to see did you bought it or not 😁 Course it's a great lens - I recently missed one on a local craigslist 😢 Please check it for radioactivity - looks yelouish...
Cool video! Thanks.
lmfao I thought that second place looked familiar, I live like 2 mins from that Goodwill/Salvation Army. Ive checked those two a bunch of times and never found anything camera related unfortunately. Btw Henley's Antiques (off Clayton Rd) sometimes has cool stuff and there's a Goodwill across the street as well (never checked it though).

Keep fighting the good fight. Sooner or later, you may score a Leica M.
u forgot one good thing we all need for all of this stuff.. a side bag or sling bag. this thing comes in handy for your camera to put away, the film rolls, your wallet your phone or your keys also in the bag and obviously all the good stuff that comes with being a film photographer
is this a joke. this guy finding gems. i wish i had these stores near me

Id be very lucky just to find ONE working film camera where i am..

I've got that car! Volkswagen Type III Squareback. Mine is a bright orange '71 that my Dad bought new off the line.

What would you say is a reasonable price to have film developed if we are starting off? From the places I saw to develop and scan the film it costs about 20$ per 24 exposure roll. Any tips are appreciated, thanks!
that 85mm takumar is actually worth a few hundred bucks and its a dope lens.. you should have bought it
In Europe prices for these type of camera"s are way way up,, compacts 25-50USD ,, SLR's and rangefinders 60-250USD ... noway I could buy anything below 10USD in thrift store here :-) Must say I would collect the best too with those American prices ;-) Awesome finds bro
