Film Camera Basic Checks & Tests - Pre travel/purchase

Today's video release for our "Tips and Tutorials" playlist covers some basic checks you can do on most types of common film cameras before going travelling, purchasing, or just pulling off the shelf for the first time in a while; before loading up some film. These tests aren't going to catch every possible issue that could develop, but they don't take long, and, are worth doing to avoid the possibility of loading a roll only to find out about a problem later!

Nothing too old or too new Hashem. Stay safe and enjoy your time ! By the way I just bought a Leica MA. How many cameras did you bring on your holiday ?

Would an advisable test for the light meter be to step outside on a bright sunny day and set the ASA to say 400 and the aperture to f/16 and see if your meter hits the 1/500 mark for shutter speed. Sunny 16 rules!!!

Before any "serious use" with an old rarely used camera I'll buy a cheap color negative film and run it through the camera, take some pictures with the lens(es) I intend to use and use at least some different shutter speeds. I'll also compare the build in meter with another "known working" camera as I don't have a separate light meter. It'll obviously cost more than inspecting, but worth it to me.

is the M4-style film advance lever custom? that's an M-A right?

The FE is electronic, albeit one “mechanical” speed.
