I believe that both Walt Disney and Leopold Stokowski would’ve approved of this restoration.

The surviving animators certainly approved.

I hope they find the rest of the original lost deems Taylor audio one day if they can’t I think they can probably recreate the lost audio using archival recordings and the Corey Burton Redub using Ai the most realistic you ever heard

In 1988 to 1990 (while restoring) they couldn't find the camera negative for the first part of the Pastoral segment, the scenes with the flying horses at the begining. Intead they just found a 35mm master that was a copy from a copy from a copy, and the quality was not good. But in the 2010 blu ray the quality for these scenes was very good, so I suspect between 1990 and 2010 they found the missing camera negative for this flying horse segment.

@@darthkurland Thete was a very documentary from 1990 about the production and restoration of Fantasia. I wish someone had a recording and could upload to KZread.

After the original Fantasia was released on home video the following year in 1991 and sold over 20 million copies. Roy E. Disney and Michael Eisner became convinced that there was enough interest to make another Fantasia which would ultimately go on to become Fantasia 2000.

Charles Solomon reviewed numerous animated features in the L.A. Times (Disney and Non-Disney).

1:19 the original Leopold Stokowski soundtrack had actually deteriorated by 1982 to the point where Walt Disney Productions decided to replace the Stokowski soundtrack with a new, digital recording in Dolby Stereo with conductor Irwin Kostal. Disney executive Ron W. Miller said that the original had degraded and "no longer matched the extraordinary visuals."Kostal directed a 121-piece orchestra and 50-voice choir for the recording that took place over 18 sessions at CBS Studio Center in Los Angeles and cost $1 million to produce.

They had copy’s of the original soundtrack for this restoration. This is about the 1990 restoration that restored the original soundtrack, it’s not about the 1982 re recording.

@@ChainsawManDude97 The copy was not complete in the sense of get all sound chanels of the original Fantasound system. They had an original print with the fantasound chanells but copued just 3 chanels. But it's perfectly enjoyable.

They didn't use computers just yet for film restoration. So it had to be done manually.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was actually the first film to be restored digitally.

Then they “remaster” it again, only to censor it. :/

It’s been censored ever since the late 60s re-release lol This restoration doesn’t have the original roadshow cut, and neither has any release outside of the original limit run. However, supposedly the 1990 restoration is the only one that actually reference the Fantasound panning/mix for it’s audio.
