Thank you this is my first year homeschooling my two boys. One is 5 and the other is 7. Remote learning was very difficult for my children last year. Thank you you made it super easy showing us how to fill out the forms. I'm from the ny area. I was a little frustrated with all the forms I have to complete in this state. This state is more stricter than most regarding homeschool. Continue posting you doing a good job and I love your beautiful handwriting.

we gave virtual a try this year and my kids (5/12) are bored and way advance . of course i ended up adding in work to supplement .so we decided 2021-22 we going fully homeschooled. makes sense to since i been doing it anyway. just not "offically"...... was a family plan for when we move out of NYC, guess plans start now! thank you for you brake down, it helped ease this paperwork 'axietty" ive been buliding in my head for a year now.....(rolling my eyes)...lol

Omggggg you might be my only answer to my hell today all day since this morning and no one can help yet I’m calling all NYS contacts and Doe and her school directly. I submitted the form to start homeschooling and according to what I read and someone directly from the office said that they did give curriculum and instructions but as of last year it stopped and basics I’m completely all on my own with no curriculum or instructions. I’ve never done this before and now she’s been pulled out the school and I have nothing to start with. Idk where to start, Idk where to get any materials from or instructions. I tried calling K12 but they’re expensive and all I have for a little over year is ABCmouse but I’m not sure if it’s NYS certified. Where can I get actual curriculum materials that match the ones that are given in school? I’m afraid she might get left back because I wasn’t prepared to keep her at home thinking they would provide those things and that she would get graded since I still have to submit the quarterly form or report. Can you suggestion? Thanks!

Thank you so much for this information, I was literally stressing about how to and what to include on the one I am doing for my daughter. She started the online school midway into last month, may I ask what curriculum are you following? I am planning to get time4learning and trying to follow the NYC DOE guidelines. Also, she came from a charter school (success academy), so we're trying our best to find a program that works for her. We are currently using Acellus Academy but will be making the switch to time4learning once the quarterly report is submitted.

We use a collection of curriculum, I used Brave Writer for Reading and Writing as well as Evan Moore Daily workbooks for my younger child we also use Khan Academy for Math of my 8 year old, my daughter does Pre-Algebra with Mr. D Math. If you are just getting started I think Time4Learning is a great option. It can help you see where your child is at academically and gives you some time and energy to look into supplemental material.

I use Time4learning for my son on for Math. He was attending Success Academy. We have been homeschooling since October of last year. I have intentions of changing to Teaching Textbooks for the new school year for him. My other two children who also attended Success Academy are using Khan Academy for Math.

Why is that I always do the most and over stress for the minimum. You have to see my first report😩 I didn’t use a template, so I typed a long letter with tons of details except the name of the books we used because someone told me we shouldn’t let them know does details. I get scared that I could be missing something and my daughters are doing 5h a day M-F we haven’t take a single holidays off. I noticed that we did a ton of work and I’m probably overworking my daughters (who haven’t complain they are so sweet and love homeschool) my 7th grader Abeka math book is 45% completed already. Is our first year, I’m probably doing too much… 😭

No, I believe it is the same. You can type it, currently because of COVID you need to email all paperwork. I have scanned it and emailed it. Either is fine.

No, they do not send you a response after the quarterly report. Just keep a copy for yourself and you are good.

Should be fine, but you all need to count all the things for your hours. Since class work usually takes less time for us we count all the reading we do alone and together, conversations about films, passions they have like coding, my daughter has her own blog so that is writing and language arts, count all the things, cooking, cleaning are life skills. This isn't just for you...I will try to throw a video about this up soon.

The 4th quarterly report is the one I filmed here. You can fill out any and all quarterly reports like this. List everything that was completed for the quarter in each section. If you take the annual assessments, take the exam and submit the results with the last quarterly report.

No, just the quarterly report. Depending on the grade at the end of the year you send in a written narrative form and the results of an annual assessment.

For the quarterly reports you can write that they passed, met the goal or if you grade your child's work you can put percentages. It's up to you.

Yes, since covid they have made it really easy to email them the documents. You may get a automatic response from them but they never really give you any kind of documentation that they received it. You can email them asking if they have gotten it but their response may be delayed.

I was called to send mines in and I started homeschooling late like February or Beginning of March... so I’m not sure if I should use the same amount of hours... also will I get in trouble if I send report In July... also I want to know about the second page to this sheet....

Use however many hours you have done of school. you should have started at the 2nd or 3rd quarterly report. So you should have skipped the ones you missed. You should submit any remaining paperwork, you shouldn't get in trouble, just submit it asap.
