How to cook Puto Bumbong. Puto Bumbong is a purple-colored rice cake (kakanin) made of 80% glutinous white rice( malagkit) and 20% sweet purple / black rice (pirurutong), traditionally steamed in bamboo tubes and topped with brown sugar or muscovado powder and grated coconuts. Nowadays, butter/margarine and cheese are also common toppings. One of the most popular delicacy during Christmas Holiday Season.
