He did what he said 1,2,3 !! The crowd though he was exaggerating but when he let the cue go and when the ball started rolling towards the pocket after 1,2 the crowd realised they were in the presence of greatness. The laughter got transformed into awe, respect and gratitude to EFREN for having played that shot in front of them. They all know that this will remain alive in their memories for a life time and they will feel good everytime they recollect the fact that they were in that same room with the magician when he made that unbelievable shot.

I saw Reyes live in New York against Earl "the Pearl". After the match, Reyes signed my cue, and have me a hug. I told him that I love him. Reyes is the most humble person I ever met. Love you, Reyes!

My wife is a Filipina, she grew up down the road from Manny Pacquiao. I can't help but to notice the similarities between Manny and Mr. Reyes. Both men rose to become the best in their chosen sport, both incredibly humble, both achieved world class success from the most difficult of beginnings. Hats off to these 2 gentleman, they're a credit to their nation and to mankind.

both of them have movies too. but for me, Efren "Bata" or "The Magician" Reyes is the real humble man since the start of his career. I've never played pool (not my thing) but I guess I'm his fan as a pool player and as a man.

That shot was difficult because it was long distance. You have got to have full control of the spin applied on the cue ball and hit the precise contact point on the object ball. And Efren did it only in a single try. Bravo!

Not 10,000 times maybe 10 times or 20 or 50 times and this kind of shot was a stock knowlege for him. And i have an idea where he got his trick shot. Efren loved watching amatuer pool player, amatuer playing always making a bad shot and efren analyze the shot wth what was happen? and he applied that shot to his game. He applied "the bad shot" to his game and make it his ultimate weapon especially in a critical situation. Thats why his the GOAT.

Do u even know the massive pressure differnce between being practicing with being in a competitive environment among crowds?? No offence., im jst saying that b'cos even if u had practised for a 1000 times, u wont have gone for it in that kind of moment.

Mark my words: there will never be another Efren again or anyone close to him. This is the greatest of all time not from just the past but of the future! His level of thinking is beyond extraordinary. I have experienced, gracefully, shots I have never seen in my life thought possible. I couldn't begin to imagine let alone comprehend how he makes these shots and within the time pressure/ frame! Its simply beautiful to watch, a flow of magic and art!

Efren is also the best at cutting a ball very thin to run it into a pocket. As you said, he could have cut the ten in that corner with either hand. Instead, with everyone watching he laid himself bare and showed us all who is the best pool player ever. Nobody else would dare try, let alone drop that shot so dramatically.

His middle name should’ve been “Alpha”. Lol. He not only dominated on the table, but he also played FOR the crowd. Everybody appreciates a master running the rack with great placements and ball control. But we all yearn for the amazing “trick” shots. Efren provided that better than anyone.

I absolutely love that he sees a shot no one else does, people think he's joking and have a nice laugh, then he pulls it off showing his incredible skill, and the crowd goes wild having witnessed the unbelievable. A simple corner pocket turned into a 3-rail english long shot in 1 call? That's superhuman.

I was just hoping that our government will not let this great man be easily forgotten..he deserved not just the applaud from the audience but the appreciation and respect of the country.

OMG! These are serious tournaments but the Magician has the time to keep things fun and entertaining. He really live up to his name. What a madlad!

I think he realized that the Germans deserved that game after Strickland's error and the two very very difficult shots the Germans were left with. He knew he couldn't win the game cheaply and took on an unbelievable shot. No one can deny that that win was well deserved. Bravo to Efren for a spectacular game and outstanding sportsmanship.

@@leedahye25 I think you misunderstood the point. If these were all normal players in a typical game, your comment is correct. That wasn't the situation. This was an exhibition put on by two of the greatest players in the world against no-name opponents. Winning narrowly and by luck would have been a disappointing performance.

There have been amazingly good pool players. But Efren is the GOAT.

Efren Reyes has always been my favorite, he's a great ambassador of the game and a true sportsman and i was fortunate enough to play on a table he worked his magic on. Unfortunately for me he wore the magic out because i lost my ass and quiet a few greenbacks!

That was the most incredible shot I have ever seen. Efren is a genius and I wish I could of met him. The Pool scene isn't so big in South Africa.

Efren is a poet laureate in Billiards whose name will live on, just like those of the great writers and thinkers in recorded history, long after the days of this generation and generations to come are scattered in the wind. Not only is he a maestro among maestros in his field, he is kind and gentle and humble making him an excellent ambassador of humanity. Truly, greatness is inspiring.

Efren was 67 or 68 at the time. Can anyone think of another athlete in the history of sports that remained the best and was still doing incredible things in his sport at the age of 67? I can't think of one, Efren stands alone in that respct. It doesn't matter if we're talking about table tennis, golf, horse racing, bowling or badminton,.........a 67 year old beating the rest of the best that are half his age and in their prime is an unparallelled accomplishment.

Unbelievable shot. Everyone thought he was joking but he executed it perfectly. He is a hall of famer. He never disappointed everyone. He really entertained them.. They got their money's worth.

What a shot! I dont know much about physics but Im sure Efren knew instinctively how it will work. The applied spin, the geometry , etc.. how in the world can he estimate , calculate & execute that shot? I can easily pocket balls: long shot, bank shot, carom ball, etc ... clear the table... playing billiard game on my PC computer ! (with cheat guide, showing wear the ball will go haha). Is that how Efren sees the pool table? The ability to estimate like a computer? Amazing!

I am watching the last shot over and over again in slow motion and I have the impression that the ball movement after it hits the last cushion is unreal...It's very strange it went in...It hits the cushion almost vertically, the speed goes suddently off and it is reflected towards the hole...

The application of the reverse spin happened when the cue ball hits the object ball but since the object ball was too close to the 1st rail. it didn't have an effect at all. The real spin took effect when it hit the 2nd rail, reversing its trajectory.

I used to be moderately good at pool. Once, while overseas, I was wasting time in a hall and I know the dude was watching me and sizing me up. After a terrific shot and win he slapped down $100 and I was like "sure why not, nothing better to do with my money". He broke and I proceeded to run the table on him for the first time in my life! He kept calling me a hustler, which I wasn't and smashed me in the face with the cue. That was 33 years ago and my nose is still crooked.
