    I own the BTR7 and I love it. To my 62 year old year old ears it sounds tremendous on any of my headphones. It has plenty of power, especially if using a balanced cable. My headphones run in price between $200-$1200. If I have a single beef with this piece it is the software, and the sheer number of functions just a couple of buttons have to handle. I'm not saying it's perfect but I love this piece of gear. This reviewer does his job right and I respect that. I think people need to buy/audition and listen rather than ask others what they should purchase. Think about it... who are you wanting to impress, YOURSELF or somebody else?

    The BTR7 isn't for the non audiophile type. That's not suppose to be an insult. Audiophile own a wide range of headphones. Some of them need a lot of power to use (planar magnetic generally need more juice) in that case a BTR7 would be the choice over the other amps.

    Depends what your headphones are. If you are using IEMs or low powered cans, BTR5 is more than enough. If you want to use high powered cans (100 ohms impedence and more) or need the balanced 4.4mm jack, you can check BTR7.

  • @NoThemeReviews

    @NoThemeReviews

    Жыл бұрын

    There is no difference in sound quality or sound signature among any of those. The Mk2 is exactly the same as the Mk1, except slight differences in build. The BTR7 has much better build than the ES100, but very limited app features. Any of these dac/amps are capable of driving the HD700 or HD800, especially if you use balanced output. There are a few companies on Amazon and elsewhere that make better feeling IEM cables. Hart Audio also makes custom cables for reasonable prices. There's no reason to buy new cables unless the ones you have are just poor quality, you need a different terminator, or don't like them aesthetically.

    I haven’t tried the M15. Whatever differences people think they hear among these dacs is incredibly little. A Dac is the least important aspect of your audio chain as any modern Dac, from $50 on up, is plenty capable of doing its job. If you really want to buy one of these types of dacs, then just look for features you want.

  • @NoThemeReviews

    @NoThemeReviews

    Жыл бұрын

    @@prasad.k.shetty Any good DAC will convert digital to analog without alteration--and it is exceedingly rare to find any DAC which sounds different from any other. An amp's only job is to amplify the analog signal, and while SOMETIMES an amp might have a slight variation in sound, it too is incredibly rare. Some companies specifically design their amps for a particular sound tuning, such as Bellari, but the vast, vast majority of amps are dead neutral, which is how it should be. Your headphones/IEMs/speakers are the most critical aspects of your audio chain, then the format of your music, and at the very end are dac and amps. Cables don't matter either, despite what some people claim. You might be better off just buying a used or refurbished G7, or getting yours repaired, instead of wasting time and money searching for dacs and amps. If you're happy with how your G7 performed, it'll be easier to get it replaced or repaired.

    I'm new to these kind of gadgets. I just got new IEMs, mostly for entertainment and am now thinking for using them for work as well. This is a comfort feature I'd like to keep if possible, so I wanted to know if it is possible to connect the BTR 7 to my PC via USB, to my phone via bluetooth and listen to content on both simultaneously, or if there are any other bluetooth dac/amps that can do this?

    I don't know about Macs but in Windows to get the maximum quality (not just 44100Khz) you have to right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom right, select Sounds, then Playback, the output device, click Properties, then Advanced. Now you can change the default format all the way up and the BTR5/7 will show what the computer is outputting, although still not what the file contains.

    Buggy. The battery drains very fast. I use the BTR7 for about 3 hours per day, moderate volume. In the first few months, I was getting 2-3 days between charges. Now I'm lucky to get 1-2, with no alterations in my use from before. The device will randomly choose not to charge on occasion. Sometimes the battery indicator disappears and won't reappear until I restart. I don't use fast chargers, so the battery drain is unusual; since there's no way to replace the battery, I have a sinking feeling this thing will be useless as a portable dac in the next several months.

    Working for a software company i do understand the pain they might feel while watching this video) Good news, there's no KZread in china, so they hardly will see this. Most claims here come from misunderstanding of audio technology and business. DAC and amp is the thing that not just affects the sound - it produces it. However, DACs alter the sound just a little bit and all modern SMD amps sound almost the same - clear and sterile. I do believe it might be impossible to tell the difference via Bluetooth - the reviewer should have a nice ear and use a direct usb connection at least. The product was released just a few months ago, so there is a hope for software updates and this might be very very hard for the Fiio software development team to proof "business value" to the management - in the end of the day it's still the best DAC BT combo on the market (due to amount of gain, built quality and QI charging). I personally admire the Fiio engineering (not software dev) team for such an insane passion for sound and solutions they've implemented to achieve the perfection. Amazing product

    V30 vs BTR7 (Wired)?

  • @NoThemeReviews

    @NoThemeReviews

    Жыл бұрын

    Apples vs oranges. I love using my V30. Despite being 5 years old, the V30 has never gotten slow or buggy, so long as the installed app is optimized and well-written. If you're using one of the now defunct V-series phones, I'd just keep using that instead of buying one of these BT dacs until something with better features comes out. Eventually Android apps will stop working on the LG phones, either for hardware limitations or because Google will stop supporting the OS on them. But, there are currently very stable audio playback software for the V-series, and you don't need to update them. You can replace the battery on these phones. They have an excellent dac and amp section. They'll give you all the BT support, both transmission and reception--something that the BTR7 can't do. So...I think picking up a like-new V30/V40 for around $100 is probably a much better investment.

    I think you may have a perception bias that all DAC's sound the same. You need to do a true blind A-B test while throwing in some intentional distortion. On the APP yes it could be improved quite a bit but it is not something you are in every day so the sequencing of pages are not a big deal. To me the preset EQ's are worthless. I spent time in the EQ for a custom curve to match my HIFI planar's which worked great for me. For these I needed to use the balanced port to get enough power for crisp head rattling volumes.

I mean, all you need to add here is a MicroSD slot (or built-in flash storage), a larger screen and a UI. I already bought this a couple of days before seeing this review. I agree with pretty much everything you say in this review. The app is terrible with little use. I find the EQ very fiddly especially when there seems to be two ways to do it and I seem to randomly change the type but that may also be because I tend not to use EQ. I also don't think any of the presets are very good. I don't know if it's because I've updated it but it now has 3 user EQs. The first thing I noticed was the device wasn't showing the correct info when connected by USB and as you also say the screen is wasted as it's mostly taken up with the codec type and there's no way to change any of it. I'm pretty happy with the device itself other than the info thing. The build quality is great and I like a flat/neutral sound, I have a few options to listen with so I prefer this rather than an EQ for each. I completely forgot about the Earstudio device and it's good to see they are still about. While I appreciate people pushing back against marketing BS… some of your statements are inflammatory because you are claiming they said something they didn’t. The 3 levels of independent audio architect is a claim they made. They never said it was unique or novel or special. They just said they have it. Meaning if you are expecting it then rest assured it is included. Your rant about how they are claiming to have invented something new there didn’t apply. While I hate reviews that kiss the OEMs ass the entire time… reviews that go the opposite extreme aren’t engaging either.

    No? Funny how their marketing angle is intended to give that implicit impression. Regardless, I never said they said it was unique, only questioned their advertising about it and why it is unique. After all, they themselves claim the architecture will produce all the detail…sooo, maybe take my comments in context.

    @@NoThemeReviews "I have no idea why Fiio thinks this 'three level architecture' is unique". You literally said that in the video. Anyhow, if you scroll down their page they tell you that using the ESS DAC + lowpass filter + THX amp is what gets you "every last detail". While I personally believe that is trending on the same level of supplements claiming to "Boost energy" because they contain caffeine or taurine, I read it as them crediting the ESS+THX combo to the performance quality. I can agree with you though that it's unclear what was "innovative" about that architecture since it's basically the exact same pairing as the THX Onyx released 6 months prior. Although the Onyx wasn't balanced so maybe that's where they are taking credit?

    That could be. All these ChiFi companies copy each other, and it’s really murky if they all use a pool of components or designs. Unfortunately, Fiio has a history of overinflating the specs of their gear, and it’s really too bad they didn’t spend more time perfecting the software. That’s what’s missing from all audio gear: software stability and desktop software integration. Seems like an obvious opportunity lost. 🤷

    Some good points. But you repeat them over and over. “Arguably more power”? That statement really showed your bias. It’s significantly more powerful, and can be used as a balanced power amp. It would take way too much time to highlight your other misleading and truly false statements. Suffice to say, you’ll never change. You lack credibility. You’re only out for clicks and likes. Thumbs down. 👎🏽 Hater.

    @Edmund Gil Why are you so emotional? You’re acting like I barged into your house, kicked your baby, and pissed on your couch. I said this thing “arguably” has more power because none of these Chinese manufacturers have been particularly forthright about power output in the past-not Fiio, Topping, SMSL, etc. That’s why there are varying complaints about their amps not apparently being powerful enough for some people. I never said it wasn’t or that it didn’t drive my gear-and in fact I clearly stated it did. As for my other “misleading and truly false statements”-you know, this is the same bullshit charge leveled against me when I reviewed the BTR5. Some of you people are so easily triggered by not hearing what you dearly believe that you’re quick to become antagonistic, confrontational, and outright insidious. No, I didn’t mislead or make any false statements. I simply said things you didn’t want to hear. You fanbabies need a crash course on the definition of “bias”. And lots of Xanax. Grow up. Be an adult.

That’s such a weird thing to dig your heels in about since HE CLEARLY SAID IT. 😱 It’s funny you got so triggered but then too lazy to tell him what he lied about. Let me guess: he lied because you think the btr7 sounds the best, and clearly is better, and the app works fine for you…right? I mean, there’s literally nothing else here for you to complain about. He’s right about the build, the size, the accessories, the marketing, the measurements, the Bt connections, the app, the menus, etc. Even Fiio acknowledged on their website that the btr7 doesn’t display accurate sample rate. Sooooooo. Yeah. 😀 Im just super happy to see how thermo you fanboys get. You guys talk like you have some special truth, and can’t see how you’re only showing the total bias you harbor. The problem with fanboyism is that any negatives mentioned is “hating”. It’s no excuse that years later they fixed some of the issues, and no amount of claiming I’m a hater will change that. Some of you audiophiles distort reality to suit your peculiar preconceptions-which is precisely why audiophiles are ridiculed. Try to be less emotionally attached to gear, and more circumspect.

    I see. So the facts are generally accurate, you just dislike my tone. And because you dislike the tone, you take the opportunity to denigrate me whenever you want. That makes sense. It never ceases to amaze me how often some of you complain about HOW something is said rather than the content-almost as if you place more emphasis on the packaging than on the product. I’m sorry you have such a negative view of my channel. But I have as much a right to convey my thoughts as anyone else who spends their hard earned money. I don’t go around harassing, demeaning, vilifying, or personally attacking other audiophiles even when they say outrageous things, but I find that a lot of you guys struggle to reciprocate. Being critical of any product is essential to improving that product, hopefully getting manufactures to do better, and to get prospective buyers to be more skeptical about the deluge of praise. I hope you don’t waste too much money in this money pit hobby. I hope you find enjoyment. But I’m disappointed that despite your recent foray into this subject, you’re showing a level of personal antagonism that may compel you to shut out voices you disagree with for childish reasons-such as tone.
