I feel like Randy was a huge part of that. The most technical/cerebral fighter in his day

Its mainly because of boxing and the other martial arts around at the time. They could build what they had from them. So of course it was gonna progress

Randy doesn’t get enough credit for his achievements. The man was a beast who beat up some of the toughest men on the planet at the time. Done at an age where many considered him to old.

Randy The Natural Couture was a three time UFC World Heavyweight Champion and also a two time UFC World Light Heavyweight Champion who also became a UFC Hall Of Famer and he was one of the coaches of Fight Master: BELLATOR FC where that reality series lasted only a season

33:57 technique is EXTREMELY important he didn’t put enough emphasis on it, because if it wasn’t important everybody could be an elite fighter

You can thank Dana for that. He was pretty much the number 1 tastemaker in MMA in the early days. Pride was way different but american MMA mostly followed the Dana white mindset.
