Writing a book chapter about negotiations right now and I thought the art of fighting for a draw is a great related concept! I like to loop in my passion in chess with other things that may be useful for others, since talking about this children's board game from 600 years ago is never controversial.

Nice tricks. But why can't white take en passant at 09:00?

Unfortunately (for white) en passant can only be performed when the pawn moving two squares ends up beside the other pawn, not behind it. For example, you can only do en passant when your pawn is on the 4th or 5th rank
