In this eleventh video of the chess fundamentals series, FM Elliott explains the topic of double attacks. A double attack happens when one piece is attacking two of the opponent's pieces at the same time. The scenario when two pieces are attacking an opponent's piece simultaneously can also be considered as a double attack.

I understand the point was to describe the "exchange" dynamic, but in the second example I will always take the bishop and lose my rook because it simplifies the position and I know K+R vs. K checkmate. Wishing a different example were given, but thank you for taking the time to make these videos for those of us trying to learn!

In the example at 5:50 I would take the exchange because King and Rook vs King is a sure win. At 9:25 there is the checkmate threat Qxh7 so why would black play d5?
