    He probably is just talking about a "salary" he has for a job. However, he is purposely leaving out the details of donations and such that he receives on Twitch and all that stuff. You are not employed by anyone when you are a Twitch streamer, and thus isn't technically a salary. With that said, it is obviously very dishonest in his reply because he does make more money outside of a salary that he clearly didn't want to say.

    In America the bottom We poverty line for a single person is $15,060. The average Chinese citizen earns $12,850, which means most of China is in poverty, and Russia $12,7500 and India $2,390 (that's right two thousand three hundred and ninety dollars). The average American worker is paid over $70,000. So by world standards, anyone making over $15,000 is well off in most of the rest of the world. So yes, you are right, there is almost no poverty in America... but Biden is working real hard to change that. For the first hundred fifty plus years we did a pretty good job of keeping megalomaniacs out of power (not always, but mostly). But then came WWII and America was pretty much tasked with rebuilding Europe and Japan, and that lead into LBJ great society in which he went on to prove that it doesn't matter how much of someone else's money you throw at poverty, poverty wins (doesn't help the goal posts keep shifting either). America was blessed to be ruled by one of the least obnoxious governments (England, who kept their monarchy in check) in the world, and when King George became too obnoxious America was able to kick him out and our forefathers who established the country demonstrated a great deal more wisdom than can be found today. So we are privileged, but it wasn't just given to us, though it has been handed down for us to lose.

    If capitalism paid people fair wages you'd have a point. The point that the socialists are making is that under capitalism people are not paid a fair wage. Given that prices have about about quadrupled since the 80s, but average wages have gone up by about a quarter, and given that CEO pay has gone up by a factor 15, I think it's obvious people are not being paid a fair share.

  • @TheSchaef47

    @TheSchaef47

    9 күн бұрын

    @@wesselbindt that would make sense if all these factors happened in a vacuum. But innovation happened for many reasons having nothing to do with worker productivity. You suggest that the worker deserves more money, not because he works four times harder, but because the company invested in technology that makes his job four times easier. Also, putting women into the workforce en masse doubled the labor pool, and two-income families resulted in double the money chasing the same amount of goods. These things have a distorting effect on inflation. And all of this before we even get to the deleterious effects of government intercession; you want to credit federal controls for all the benefits our society generates but blame capitalism for our ills life we're in some kind of anarcho-libertarian enclave. It can't be had both ways. In the end, being mad about making a little more money because someone else is making a lot more is nothing short of petty envy. Go create your own Facebook if you want a billion dollars. If they make so much money for no work, you also go out into the world and do no work and wait for that fat cash to start rolling in. Besides, if everyone gets equal pay that's the opposite of a fair wage.

    @@mostsacredstories that's not even remotely true. Economic indices vary in their assessment - somewhere in the 70-80% capitalist range - but that puts them in the top 25 globally, even with the mountain if regulation imposed by the government, well ahead of European countries like the UK, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy... And to the extent that American capitalism is blunted by regulation, that's less about socialism and more about cronyism, where companies contribute to legislation in a direction that protects their strength and stifles competition (the auto industry being a prime example)

And their heat is provided by firewood. And dirty water that is contaminated with who knows what. Clothes that are 10 to 20 years old. And this is in a country that is supposed to be 1st world country. All these people are ignored by the government because they are poorer than the regular poor. Don't ever make stupid assumptions like that until you lived the lives of every walk of life. And don't compare a 3rd world country to a 1st world country. To see this level of poverty happen in Canada is the fault of the government and purely the fault of the government. Poverty in Nigeria was the fault of the people who voted for dictatorship. Not a small audience. He's one of the biggest streamers on twitch. That being said, he is scummy as hell. He mostly streams other people's KZread videos for his audience and they donate money to him. The creators of the videos, mind you, don't receive any portion of the money or even a shoutout to the channel. Nor is the content transformed in any way to qualify under "Fair Use" laws.

    The question asked to him was "how much do you make." So he is twisting the question into, "what is your salary" and identifying the salary he gets from work on the Yong Turks and excluding all the other money he makes each year from various other things he does. Charlie dropped the ball by letting Hassan get away with that. He should have called him out on his dishonesty which would hurt his credibility, which in turn makes his arguments weaker.

    The proof that capitalism works is how it has stood the test of time. It is the oldest form of commerce, "You have something I want, I will pay you for it." Supply and demand = success, and when companies offer similar things they are forced to keep prices competitive in order to succeed, this is good for the consumer.

  • @duhni4551

    @duhni4551

    When it comes to pricing, nothing forces them to keep them low, as you can see from Medical industry for example. Such companies can agree with each others to keep surtain price level no matter what. It has a name, pricing cartell. What i mean to say is that even if the system encourages you to behave surtain way, it is not safe from human corruption. This is not issue of capitalism it self though but trusting some system works surtain way isn't very smart. Also quality of the service / product plays a role, people tend to pay more if they get more value for the money. Meaning that instead of buying the cheapest product that breaks right away they pay bit more to get something that lasts longer. There are a lot more in to it, as capitalist system has developed to such behemot that not even economists understands it completely anymore. But for some odd reason it still works so i guess it is self sustaining system in its core and the fact that no one knows how it works as a whole and yet it works is only even more definite proof about how it simply works. Not perfect but what is?

    Yes but the mistake many Americans make regarding socialist is that they conflate it with Eastern or South American dictators like the list of nations kirk gave .. Many rich western governments have been using socialist policies for decades particularly in western Europe.. socialist government doesn't necessarily mean turning your back on free market economy

    Hasan, my wife’s mom moved back to Canada and when she needed hip surgery she was put on a 6 month waiting list. She moved back to the US and got in within 2 weeks. Her aunt lived in the UK. She got dementia. Do you know what they did for her? They had someone from National Health come by once a week to drop off drugs and ask her is she was taking them and if she was ok. My wife flew over there and found her medicines piling up, not taken and rotting food in the house. That is socialized medicine. Everyone complained about the VA, until Trump gave vets free choice, and that was government run healthcare!

    Not that you are not right on this, but Charlie, Ben Shapiro, and Michael Knowles all do the same thing to people they debate with and the whole "change my mind" stuff on college campuses. They literally just cut people off and interrupt them non stop. Which I assume is why these guys are mostly unliked. Not because they are wrong about the stuff they are talking about. I figure it's just a tactic to do what you can to get the other party upset, cuz who doesn't like getting interrupted and cut off non stop right? So it will for sure piss people off and make their emotions come out, and then these guys just sit there and smile, knowing they are recording it to paint an intentional picture of these people.
