Obviously it isn't going to be a school/college now by the looks of it. Why do people have to be so destructive? I have great memories of hanging out there in the mid 80's before I went into the Air Force

I think the plan for a medical college fell through because they couldn't get all the anchor store properties at a workable price. The common area had one owner, then each anchor was individually owned. The current owner was able to pull that off. When the mall was built, the Sears building was up and running before the mall was even 50% complete, and ironically, it was the last anchor building come down

I loved that mall. So many memories there. Chess King, Natural Wonder, Walden's Books and that amazing Gyro shop in the food court!

That was Steve. He owned the Gyro shop. My grandfather Salvatore owned the Papa Jays Pizza. At one point we also had a place called Jay’s Philly cheesesteaks that eventually became Chick-fil-A. We had six other papa jays pizza locations as well. Don’t forget Aladdin’s castle! I literally grew up in this mall. What a shame to see it like this.

@@ChrisTopheRaz yes Aladdin’s Castle was such an awesome arcade! Wasn’t a pet shop next door to it?

I remember posting a picture of inside fiesta mall 1.5 months ago and people were asking me how to get in. I was able to help 2 people and I made sure they had respirators. I didn’t want to be one of the reasons for someone’s demise.

Fine job documenting the place before it’s gone forever. Has to be one of the most vandalized malls I’ve seen. Pretty gruesome and harrowing. I think the last time I was in the then struggling mall was about 10 years ago.

It's almost like viewing a building after a fire was extinguished. Sad to see it in this condition due to vandals. It's a shame because I saw a video of what it looked like when it was still open, but on its last legs. Few shoppers, but very clean and well kept. Closing it down opened it up to its interior destruction by people who enjoy destroying things. Haunting music.

Recalling how this mall used to look in its glory days and seeing how run down it is in this video, I'd say that the demolition wasn't a demolition as much as it was a mercy killing. ;(
