Fierce Self-Compassion with Dr. Kristin Neff | Being Well Podcast 157

People generally think of self-compassion as a "soft" emotion that helps us comfort, reassure, and nurture ourselves. Today a pioneer in the field of compassion research, Dr. Kristin Neff, joins Being Well with Dr. Rick Hanson and Forrest Hanson to explore the fierce side of self-compassion, including how it can help us draw healthy boundaries, take necessary action, and stand against injustice.
About Being Well: Dr. Rick Hanson and Forrest Hanson explore the practical science of lasting well-being with the help of world-class guest experts, and teach you how to build reliable inner strengths, overcome your challenges, and get the most out of life.
Who Am I: I'm Forrest, the co-author of Resilient (amzn.to/3iXLerD) and host of the Being Well Podcast (apple.co/38ufGG0). I'm making videos focused on simplifying psychology, mental health, and personal growth.

I’m female & I have battled situations I have encountered (child mistreatment, animal abuse) with a fairly overwhelming force of “bold anger”. It’s innate to me. I feel like it’s a superpower. I also feel like the world needs more of this balanced with reason and compassion.

Would be interesting to explore WHY other women DO NOT LIKE other females when they do stand up as empowered on a situation (rocking the boat).

When members of a marginalized group suppress and punish themselves in order to follow oppressive cultural expectations, they often resent it when other members of their group don't do the same. It seems unfair.

Think about lions....imagine if a female lion was not fierce. I think fierceness in both sexes must be used wisely... I lion is in a resting state and uses fierceness when needed.
