Fields Of The Nephilim - Wail Of Sumer/And There Will Your Heart Be Also (Lyrics, GAPLESS, 1080p60)

Disclaimer: My channel is entirely non-commercial, all rights belong to the artist.

Lyrics-Videos-Playlist:
• Monster Magnet - Ozium...
www.fields-of-the-nephilim.com/
First things first: "Sumer" is no typo. Just in case you jumped to conclusions... :-)
Fields Of The Nephilim are one of the pioneers for what is called Gothic Rock. They were founded in England in 1984. "The Nephilim" are a hybrid race between humans and angels.
Technically - meaning on the CD - the song that is presented in the video consists of two separate songs, but musically and lyrically they just cannot be separated. So I ripped them from my original CD in lossless Wave-Format which I also used during editing, so you don't have to put up with the ugly micro gap between the two songs. It's just one flow of beauty for your esteemed ears and minds.
The album on which to find this work of art is called "Elizium", and - excuse me losing my sh*t - is hands down one of the best - if not THE best Goth Rock albums ever made. In fact it's more like a Goth Opera (without the annoying Bel-Canto-Vocals, mind you...).
This particular ballad is, and I hate this overused word, epic. It's indulgent when roaming through its ethereal realms of existence, at the same time sad and hopeful, touching the core of human life and death in general. If Pink Floyd were a Goth Band, this is what they would sound like. Now I don't want to ramble for too long, give this a shot. But take your time. This is by no means a three-minutes-forgettable charts ditty.
And never forget: Keep talking!

I don't know how many times I've listened to these two songs but it's never enough. I wish these guys would create more albums because there's nothing quite like them.

  • 2 жыл бұрын

I still don't know how these peak moments in a bands career come up. Something seems to hit them and - BAM - they write a masterpiece that even they themselves could not beat despite all their fantastic releases before and after the release of "Elizium". But these two songs (basically it's one song I'd say) are unmatched and have become a classic in Goth Rock.

There's something about these songs. Something so intangible, so incomprehensible. Something explicit. It's like it's a prayer. Or lamenting for something lost.

Usually, I never listen to any form of rock. I much prefer light pop music. However, I decided to listen to these two songs and I honestly have really enjoyed them. I respect the effort that the artist has put into this piece, therefore I have bought the CD

That's the best result my videos can have. Introduce people to artists they might have not been aware of before. It takes a little bit of time to get into this awesome piece of Goth Rock history, but it's absolutely worth it. Great that you enjoyed the music in this vid and even bought the Elyzium CD!

These 2 collective pieces demonstrate an avalanche of darkness intertwined with a deep melancholic essence. The video to coincide with the music really illustrates that of a feeling of an out of body experience within a dream state reality. The entirety of Elyzium stands hands down as one of the finest gatherings of work in both terms of a sonic and artistic standpoint, and the 1988 self-titled album is also more or less up there. The work Mccoy did in 2005 was a great return to form but it just fell short of fully reigniting the essence of the 2 albums I mentioned - at least in my eyes, although I still love the 2005 album.

  • Жыл бұрын

You hit the nail. What you say the music evokes on an emotional and spiritual level ist what I tried to get across in the video. The creation process, If I may call it that, was almost purely automatic. It all just clicked in place, as If I was just the hands working the keyboard. The intuition did the rest. I also agree on what you say about "Mourning Sun". Great album really, but such an album like "Elyzium" cannot be reproduced. I don't know what it was that inspired the Fields back then, but I guess it was rooted in the areas beyond rationality. Thanks for your kind words, Dancer CJ.

"Out of body experience" is probably the best descriptor I've heard of these songs. Really makes you feel like you're floating in the aether or in an ocean, unbound from all the constant troubles of day to day life. It's melancholic, yes, but also one of those songs that emanates a deep-seated feeling of true liberation that sticks with you.

Pettitt spielt heutzutage in der Band "The Eden House". Auch da hört man diesen Effekt.

Everyone I gave it to listen to said that it was the strangest and most complex music. The guitar howls like a whale, the bass leads the line, the lyrics in which there is an incredible longing for something lost. Mysticism, something out of our world. And everyone says that for some reason it brings to mind the color violet, about the heavens. It's as if you've lost something or someone behind a door that's locked forever.

These are great words to decribe the music. But I don't see violet, I see endless fields of crop in the blue hour. Feeling a warm breeze. That must sound strange, but those pictures pop up inside me while listening to the music. And I don't feel like missing anything. When I listen to the music, I expirience the realization of the deepest wishes from the deepest bottom of my heart. It feels like being right there.@@YevhenMerzlikin-qq9xs
