see, I dunno. Elizium was always better live, I found the album to be a mushy messy swooshy mess (yeah, I know it was mixed to be all morphy and shoegazey and stuff, but...). I was a massive fan of the Neph from the first single until Elizium, i found it completely underwhelming. I wish they'd remix it (like, not just remaster it, but dig out the original tapes and produce/mix the whole thing differently). Like with George Harrison's album, where they recently fresh-mixed it to remove all the Phil Spector stuff. Give the tapes to Flood or someone and get him to produce it from scratch. Like I said, it isn't a problem with the band, or the songs (they are fantastic live). Just... don't like the recorded album.

@@AlIguana To me the way Elizium was mixed made sense with the songs. Wright/Yates ( as main songwriters ) obviously infused a "Pink Floyd" vibe into the songs ( Sumerland/And There Will Your Heart Be Also..) so all the keyboard parts were more important and sounded bigger. And ( of course ) the guitar parts a bit "buried" in the mix. That's why, to me, Elizium is a prog-ish album.

Keyboards are not too overbearing and add shape and colour. Carl singing it like he always did This is fucking great and they should come back Such majesty in their performance; smoke and darkness and wonderful music The Nephilim must reform

I was lucky enough to catch them live last night at the Roadburn festival in Tilburg! It was the second time I got to see them perform and it's probably about the best live band I've seen so far. They still manage to perform with the same amount of energy and skill even though they've been going for about 30 years :)

***** no but I still find it weird that time passes like it does. When someone says the 80's I still think if it like 20 or so years ago. Not 35.

TorrenOglethorpe : Perhaps one of the reasons people like you and I seem to equate time similarly is probably due to the fact that the 80's and early 90's were replete with innovative and amazing music unlike most of the 2000+ era.

The sound recording of this concert is literal the same as on Festival of Fire, a bootleg from 1992... It was my first Fields-CD éver, although an unofficial one... But boy, did it send me on a journey...

Thanks to bands like Neph/sisters/mish/aae and a host of metal bands I was saved from dire late 80s Pop music saw shit . Nephilim was and still are my favourite band . Saw them 88 and 90 still best gigs I’ve ever been too and I’ve been too many . Saw them again 2017 and 2022 still blew me away . No disrespect to the guys in the band now but myself and sure many others would love too see the original line up back together, doubt it’ll happen . They need to tour more often and do a bloody album too long since the prophecy single . Oh and how come Carl McCoy doesn’t look any older than he did then ? Must be the Sumerian gods keeping him young lol .
