I had an Apokatana from YEARS ago when Z.T was a small business, and made to order. Now the same sword is $165 more (same sword) and I saw a recent video of them mass producing one or two of the models, so a piece like this is a bit of irony. ZT’s are very overbuilt, which makes it feel more like a long piece of 5160 bar stock. Thanks for a great review Matt!

That held up and offered a lot more than expected for that price point! Thanks much for not shying away from reviewing these swords that might otherwise fly under the radar of collectors.

For $69 it performed a lot better than I would have thought! And I feel like some of the issues mentioned like the finish getting on your fingers are things they could correct in the future.

I've been barking up their tree for a while now. No dice. I always see them showing them, but never cutting with them.

Check out the DK modern series if you get a chance. Surprisingly good cutters.

Doomsday Crisis, at least, is a pretty passable band name.

Zombie tools makes cool swords, they are a bit heavy and unwieldy but also very durable, I have owned and sold a few of them, I only have the Diphos now and it is basicly a wall hanger because of the wieght, I would never grab it first to dispatch any zombies or other threats, Also even tho it is a absolutely beautiful sword in my opinion, it does not cut very well, all or Zombie Tools blades have a secondary bevel on the edge which can really slow down your cut. It turns what should be an amazing sword into a long knife. Kinda disappointing, actually.

New to your channel. Love your content and the way you break things down. You don’t miss any details. Have two questions if you don’t mind. What are your top 3 pics for wakizashi as far as durability yet still having a nice weight and balance. My second question is… has anything ever survived the croquet of doom lol?

For durability, S5 or S7 seem to be king of the hill for sword work. I have heard things made of ZTuff are better but I have not personally tested. Cloudhammer, ZSey, and Shadow Dancer use S7 or S5. I would guess they would hold up well to some aggressive usage. Waki are smaller so balance and heft tend to be easier to manage. Also, nothing survives the croquet stake of doom.

Yikes, the IP theft here is really obvious. I mean the same Tsuba, like exactly the same is pretty much a F-U sue me if I've ever seen one lol. It's to bad too it seems like they're on to something with the foam leather tape handle. If they can figure out a way to keep the guard tight without welding it that is. Good review brother 🤘💀 I hope they take your advice and change the design. Because it would be a pretty damn good sword for less then 100$

For how strong that blade was, to snap like that on the tang, i can only speculate, they heat treat the blade, but not the full sword, spring steel likes deep quench (i think that was the expression used), meaning the full sword has to be heat treated equally, quench and temper, thats what i read when looking for the best way to treat a 9260 bar It could also have to do with the weld you mentioned, no bueno, right on the weakest spot of a blade, the "rect angles" of the tang, i think people would be better of with a cold steel machete, they seem strong and light enough, cheap compared with everything they sell, even the "katana machete" with a slight mod to that handle made of "hot spots"

For Cosplaying, or just wall art, sure. I view any blade tool/weapon with an eye that someday, my very life might depend on it. Ergo, anything 'Cheap' (In $$$'s) is almost always off my list of options to purchase, much less use. Sure, I can wield a baseball bat that cost me a few tens of dollars, and trust it won't shatter after a few hits, but 'Blades' to me demand more reliability. Still, nice video and info. on this item! Thank you.

They could have brazed the guard instead of welding, that would not have melted the base metal but also kept everything in place. They would still have to worry about the temper though.

Its nice enough for 68 bucks but It would be way nicer if they came up with their own designs. Fu*k i make APOC style knives & swords & there are plemty of us out here. They could pay people for their designs even & it wouldnt raise the price too much to cut someone else in.
