    Gorgeous ficus! I had a Tineke and died because I forgot I had watered and did it again 😢 Now I just got 2 Ruby Ficus and am scared to kill them too. But your video is very informative so I hope to do the right thing.

    I love love love all the white pots. Im gonna paint all of mine white LOL. My Burgundy and Tineke both pushed out a leaf about a month ago and now nothing. Is it dormant? Do I need to do something?

    Hi!. Yeaaas, I love using white for containers, right? On leaves, I found that ficus go through bouts of growth, then sit there for a while. No need to do anything. 😃🪴

    Hello. My ficus Burgundy does not need water every week. In fact, it has been a month and the soil is still dump when I check. I repot it into a bigger pot so I guess that could be the reason why the soil is still moist.

    Hmm, maybe that's it, but can you tell me the soil mix you used when repotting? Maybe your soil is too heavy and thats whats holding too much water? 😀🪴

    @@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN ,I used FoxFarm Ocean Forest Potting Soil mixed with River Sand. The plant seems happy after I repot it and it has new leaves 🍃 I guess it's because the Soil holds more moisture than other types of soils.

    Wow! It could be too much sun, the more light usually, the more variegation. But our 3 tineke's are all getting a lot of light and don't have a predominately white leaf, just the regular mixed colors.😀 🪴

    I was surprised to hear Miracle grow potting soil prevents fungus gnats. How does it do that? Plus do you add water to the Leca under the pot for added humidity? Do you have details about your experience with these topics?

  • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN

    @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi there. The specific soil I often recommend to help control fugus gnats is the MiracleGro® "indoor potting mix". It contains NO compost or bark, which are known to shelter fungus gnats. They specifically formulated it that way to control them. Thats why we like it. On LECA, yes, we usually add about an 1 or 2 inches of LECA under our grow pots to help with humidity. We usually let the excess plant watering drain thru container and down to the LECA reservoir. It gets absorbed and then LECA slowly evaporates the water back up the sides of outer pot to plants (Tineke etc). And regarding your question on my experience with plant topics, you can check my home page for more info, but here's a summary: I have over 34 years of professional experience in the field. I graduated from University of Florida with a Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture as well as a minor degree in Environmental Studies (wayyy back in1987, i'm gettin old.. he he). I am also a Registered Landscape Architect in the state of Florida. Over my long career, I have worked for both Private and Public enterprises giving me insights on many different types of landscape + Interiorscape projects. Speaking to interiorscapes (ie house plants) a lot of my strength comes from the 15+ years I oversaw the massive Interior Landscape Program at Miami International Airport. I also draw my expertise from my lifetime experiences with gardening & caring for house plants since childhood (my mother taught me a lot about gardening) which still guides me to this day. And I also love continuing my education, so back in 2004-5, I went back to school to study building construction (of which our gardens spaces are often married to) and then passed the Florida state exam to become a Certified General Contractor.(Inacv) Hope this helps.😀🪴

    HI! So funny that you brought this up! I am getting ready to Ficus propagation video for our Burgundy Ficus, she it getting huge. I will be posting it a few months ( still need roots to develop- we are in mid production). But short version: 1)make a cutting along healthy "woody" section between nodes ( clean tools with alcohol first) 2) remove lower leaves on stem but keep a few, Place in distilled/chlorine free water. 3)Wait up to 2 months for roots to form. 4) Transfer into potting media. Our Ficus propagation video will go more in depth, so stay tuned!😀🪴

    @LET'S GROW Hi, I would like to purchase this plant but I would like to know before if it grows as big as the big Ficus Elastica in your video and if it is the case then how much time it takes usually?

    Hi!, 2+ yrs ago I picked up 2 bare root ficus tineke (via mail order the ones on the table in the video) to test out how mail order plants fair, and those little 6" plants are now as of today 3' tall! They have done great! I moved them into soil since they grew to big for leca. Hope this was helpful.😀 🪴

    Hi there! Each plant is different and we love to use custom mixes for each plant's need. But as a rule of thumb, a mix that has 2 parts indoor potting with added 1 part perlite and 1 part worm castings is ok to use for many plants, but we use custom mixes, so check out channel vids for specific ratios for your type of plant(s). Hope this helps.😀🪴

    Hi there. It could be one of 3 things, improper watering (over/under), low humidity around your Tineke, or from pests like spider mites. Hope this helps and you find and fix whats ailing your tineke.😀🪴
