Would've loved to see the Demolisher 100 ton tank from Battletech included here. Most tanks in that universe can simply be stepped on by any battlemech to get rid of them. But with 2 AC20s that can reliably delete a ton's worth of armor each from existence with every pull of the trigger, the Demolisher is an ever present reminder that tracked vehicles still have to be taken seriously even a thousand years into the future.

Not a tank, but still remember the first time I left a mech in range of an SRM Carrier. 10x6 SRMs to the face is like walking into a mech-sized belt-sander.
Some fun info about the Mark XXXIII Bolo for those curious - it had/has/will have an average ground speed of about 115 kph, going up to a flight speed of ~500 kph if it diverts its shield power to its counter-grav systems. As the video says, the main armament is 3x 200cm (5 megatons/second) Hellbore plasma cannons, with a secondary armament of 16x 30cm Hellbores, though the video doesn't (through no fault of its own) give the factoid that the original Hellbore mounted on a Bolo, a 25cm on the Mark XIV, was originally designed as a naval battlecruisers main gun - a tiny little pea shooter by comparison (though tbf, that was at least over 1000 years before the XXXIII rolled out). It's breech loading mortars have a rate of fire about 8-12 rounds a minute, and the big 40cm ones have a range of about 10 kilometers (its got "small" 15cm mortars as well), and as such, would probably be considered "close range" defensive weapons. I don't know if anybody ever bothered to count all the anti-personal flechette clusters and lasers on it, so we'll just say "many". All in all, with its... generous firepower (those 200cm guns are more than enough to blast spaceships out of orbit), meter(s) thick armor, external and internal shielding, and an internal counter-grav system that meant it could land itself from orbit unassisted, the Mark XXXIII Bolo is considered a "planetary siege unit", capable of conquering modestly defended planets in small teams, or even solo, with whole brigades of 24 units operating together, presumably for heavily defended targets. Even though it is preferred to operate a Mark XXXIII with a single human operator, its sophisticated, sentient AI means it's perfectly capable of operating completely autonomously, just like its predecessors going back to the Mark XX.

Hi… I was one of the Playtesters for OGRE/GEV, and painted many of the Miniatures for the Box-Art. I am hoping to convince Steve to do a newer version of it based upon an Alternate Universe created by the OGRE-verse’s version of the Superconducting Supercollider creating a Parallel Universe(s) (one of which will be the OGREThulu-Verse, with a new, much scarier looking OGRE-Thulu… Sadly… No GEVs in these Universes, but they will be replaced with something just as fun. Possessed Zombie-Tanks being one of them). I got him to agree to hear the pitch with the new artwork (Had to clean-up 25 year-old artwork in the process). But new OGREs will now have their own Artillery (in addition to Missiles). But the newer releases of OGRE are a lot fancier than the older Bagged Metagaming Pocket-Games that we played in High School at Lunch (mostly Melee and Wizard, because they were the fastest, but we had one lunch period a week that was an hour, rather than the 30 minutes of a typical one, where we played OGRE/GEV), or the Plastic Pocket-Boxes of early SJGames. They have huge boards with paper-cutout tanks that assemble into cardboard miniatures (or you can get some with the regular miniatures - I can’t remember if he went through with the Plastics or not????)…
@MatthewBaileyBeAfraid

@MatthewBaileyBeAfraid

And yes… He did release some of the minis in Plastic, with more planned. He has been farming-out the different games to others to support the production of, and as such the priorities are controlled differently. Hoping the new Pitch will result in newer OGRE Options (also an Illuminati related Project, that is connected to the Real World… Not a LARP sort of thing, either). OGRE/GEV are also available as Computer games, and Nintendo or other Console Video Games, with a Computer-player as an option. Expect an AR version of OGRE/GEV, where the Playing field is an Empty Table with Units controlled by Markers that are moved on Virtual Terrain. Don’t know what is going on with this, though, but it was something mentioned as “looking into,” and the existence of the Nintendo, Steam, and other Video Games means that the basic Engine is completed, and just a new display would be required.

YES!!! You included the hover tank from Hammer's Slammers! One of my favorite military sci-fy book series!
thank you for remembering the bolo I know it's a bit of an obscure book series but a good one thank you
Big props for including the tank from Hammer's Slammers and the Trajan Heavy Tank from Fasa's Renegade Legion universe game Centurion. Unlike all the other creations on the list the Hammer's Slammers tank has some real thought behind it. David Drake was in armor in Vietnam. While he writes science fiction his direct knowledge spills over.

I'd rather say the Bolo series definitely had plenty of thought go into it. There's a clear and consistent technological progression behind it, it features similar levels of "logically if x then y" bits of design and setting - like how tanks in Slammers have such long range, theyre able to gun down satellites and render air and near orbitsl power useless, late model Bolos were mounted on the outside of their transport ships to act as weapons and armor. There's actually a *lot* of thought in them. They aren't just bigger tanks, but they have similar levels of thought and tonnage put into everything from kotive systems to EW. A lot of the bolo stories are less about "big tank bigger tonk than other guy so tonk win" and more about Bolos using their intelligence and reflexes to defeat disparate forces.

FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!!!!
Could also toss quite a few units from Homeworld Deserts of Kharak on here. The "Phalanx" Armored Assault Vehicle is roughly the size of a house and the Coalition Command Carriers are literally aircraft carriers on tracks with CIWS and missile batteries that allow them to head to head fight other vehicles. The Kapisi is listed as 125,000 tons and 568 meters long
Fictional tanks be like: - Oh man, we have a big size cannon that fits inside his barrel an entire house, so, probably it's a 105mm anti-tank gun 😀
Object 279 is not fictional, it even exists in the Kubinka tank museum
Wow! I haven't come across a mention of Renegade Legion in years! Love all the Mice in Kuromorimine livery. Other armored vehicles you might consider are the Takemikazuchi from "Sora no Woto" (Sound of the Sky) and the "objects" from "Heavy Object".

very cool to see stuff from old obscure games that I played like Ogre and Renegade Legion
Ah, I miss Boneaparte from Dominion Tank Police. And the Urban Hunter tank from Madox. Would've been the smallest ones, probably.
Many already talked about Object 279, so I will point out that the "Edelweiss" is from Valkyria Chronicles 1. In VC3 it is the "Nameless" tank.

A Bolo of Team Ragnarok! Outstanding
Kudos for including the Trajan Grav Tank. Renegade Legion sadly never took of as much as it deserved. Missing: - tanks from Battletech (if you know Renegade Legion, strange not to know Battletech) - Shifts, Perry Rhodan (longest running SciFi series in history)

Not sure if it counts, but the experimental super unit Fatboy from Supreme Commander is far larger than most, if not all, of these tanks. Granted, it’s also a mobile base with its onboard factory, but it is tracked and has some serious heavy cannons.

The hovertank from David Drake's Hammer's Slammers was a nice deep trivia cut. Good military sci-fi books that would look great on the big screen. Another would be the Falkenberg's Legion books from Jerry Pournelle.
Only thing missing was Battletech tanks, But im glad there were so many I knew included!
The VHT-1 is actually from 'Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross" which was later ham-fisted into being a part of the western "Robotech" localization by Harmony Gold. While the name Robotech is perhaps more of a recognizable brand, it's widely despised by fans due to Harmony Gold's dubious business practices and gatekeeping of said properties.
Gunhed (spelling is correct), Gun UNit of Heavy Eliminate Device from a live-action Japanese movie of the same name. You also missed off the tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell, ca. 1 tonne or so. Others have mentioned Tank Police, the signature tank is called Bonaparte, very similar-looking to the SV-001.

The Gunhed movie was awesome...
Very good selection of fictional heavy tanks, but I couldn't miss the FELINE TANK from Thundercats in both versions, the early model from the 80's and the last 2011 version, good video
A Necron Monolith would be about half the size of the Longdan, wouldn't you say?
the edelweiss was the main tank of Valkyria Chronicles 1... in VC3 the main tank was the nameless. Also... I'm pretty sure the mammoth MK1's main guns are 200mm or 20 cm (same thing)... not 20 mm... as that'd be a hilariously small caliber for a tank that size. 20mm is a common caliber on airplane auto-canons.
@_ravanys

Was scrolling down to see if anyone else caught the Edelweiss mixup
feel sad you missed the M.A.R.V form the recent C&C and to correct your info on the mammoth it was a rescue able unit in the final mission for GDI and obtainable in some missions in firestorm expansion pack.
I'm just here to make sure the BOLO MkXXXIII is represented. You did good.
Would've loved to see the Siege tank from Star Craft universe, since it is an iconic one.
If you do an update, maybe include Bonaparte from Dominion/Tank Police and the Cobra H.I.S.S.
I was hoping to see something from H.G. Well's "Land Ironclads". It was the story that inspired the creation of the tank in the first place. So you could suggest it helped inspire everything on this list.
Nice video on notable Sci-fi tanks. The tanks from "Venus Wars" need to be included in a future update. I realize they are fictional, but I have to question the tonnages on some of those AFV's. Even with futuristic armor, the Slug had to weight more than 2. 5 tons, with such a heavy maid gun with ammo. Same for several others covered. That said, well done! Bolo's forever!
Amazing work, especially awesome to see some Renegade Legion in there
All those Gundam tanks, and no love for the "Octopus" from "Venus Wars"? (Manga and Anime). BTW the Mark VI Ogre has the missile racks, the Mark V has 6 missiles.
The end tanks look so goofy
Was happy to see Renegade Legion in there. I never actually played, but I loved the ads in Dragon back in the day.
I am so glad to see endwar in one of these videos, I swear its one of the most underrated games from the 2000s
Just a few notes: I don't think the land ironclad by H G Wells was that big, but it's been a while since I read it The Mark VI Ogre wasn't modelled very well. It doesn't show the missile racks and the other two Main Batteries look like they were just stuck onto a Mark III You could have included the Land Leviathan from the book of the same name by Michael Moorcock, but it would have looked similar, but more steampunk, to the second last pyramid tank The Apocalypse Tank doesn't show the grinders although they are mentioned in the description Good work overall.
