I actually thought of that and figured I'd just leave it like that ;-) I name SOME of my tools, but my gauges don't have names.

I have found that OBS Studio is the easiest way to do screen capture videos. Free and incredibly flexible. Instead of capturing a Window or Program, I do a Desktop capture, and for something like this, I either have the program maximized and capture the whole desktop, or if I don't want the task bar etc, capture an area of the desktop instead, so only showing the part I want to show, but any pop-ups or mouse movement will show. I use this idea for screen sharing on zoom, let's say I want to show a KZread video, I select the area of the video in the browser, and then I can play it easily without having to mess with full screen anything, and if I can lose the bottom part of the video, I can even keep the video progress bar from displaying, but see it myself.

That's a good idea, I'll have to try that out! I was just using the built-in capture in windows, but it apparently doesn't capture dialog boxes.

@@RobertCowanDIY yes, I started out using Xbox game bar or whatever it is as well, and after several big fails (recording zoom calls, but it was focused on a different window, and there's no way to tell! Lol), and so I switched to OBS, which is what I also work with when live streaming. Once you install it, click the + under the Sources window and add a Display Capture. You will select which monitor you want to capture. And this will capture the entire display by default. If you want to capture only a portion of the display, right click on the Display Capture source and go to filters, and then add a Crop/Pad filter and adjust it down to your desired size and location. It has other Source options, but Window capture works about the same as the Game Bar, so no context menus or pop ups show etc. Mouse visibility is selectable. I think it automatically has desktop audio and mic/aux audio inputs showing, but if not you can add audio sources as well. You will have vu meters, volume sliders, etc to mix the audio. You can also add filters for compression, eq, etc to the audio. Since it's designed for live recording, I think by default it records to .mkv files, which is safer because if it crashes, the file is saved up to that point (an mp4 file would be corrupted in a crash), but it's not as compatible for editing etc. So if you don't care about the crash resiliency, go to Settings/Output, and change from mkv to mp4 etc. If you appreciate the crash resiliency, leave that as mkv, and then go to Settings/Advanced, and under Recording, check "Automatically Remux to mp4" Then when you stop recording, it automatically creates an mp4 file from the mkv file (they are an identical file format, the difference is that the mp4 file requires a good header, which isn't written until the recording stops, but the mkv writes the header first so the actual video data is safe as soon as its written, so remuxing is simply copying the file exactly, and then writing a different header for it.), though you then end up with both files. That's how I currently have it set up, and I just delete the mkv afterwards, but it ensures I get a good file. So make sure you can see the desired program window in the Program window on OBS, and that you have the audio settings correct for the microphone that you are recording from, and then click the Start Recording button. And I think that's all that you would want to know to use it for screen recording! There's lots of other features and adjustments available, but I am trying to give you a custom quick start guide so you don't have to wade through all the streaming focused information from Google and KZread instructions searches lol It's a really popular program, so lots of resources available for it, for when you start live streaming laser engraving! Lol

Oh, sorry, no :) just an observation and I didn’t finish my thought i see. Was thinking vaporized chrome probably isn’t healthy to breath, but thinking now, what type of vaporized metal is? 😅 And with your HEPA filter it’s way better than people just doing it willy-nilly without filter and even vacuum.

I don't, but I could make something pretty quick. Those and radius gauges are really useful if you're trying to model an existing part in CAD.

Which fiber laser are you using and how long does it take to mark? Strong enough Thor stainless and 6al4v Ti?

There's a link down in the description for exactly what I'm using. And yes, fibers lasers can mark titanium.

Any idea how the 20W Gweike G2 would perform at something like this? Or even one of the tiny 2W IR lasers?

I would suspect it would be similar, but it would just take longer. I am going to mark my radius gauges, maybe I can do a video using the G2 for those, showing the difference. I can also try out the 'variable' text option which will automatically change the numbers.
