Thinking of buying a secondhand car? This video shows how to quickly and cheaply test whether your head gasket is leaking. Sometimes you won’t notice coolant loss or water in the oil on a short test drive. If you do buy a secondhand vehicle, especially an old one, make sure that the timing chain or belt has been changed at the appropriate intervals. I made the schoolboy error of not changing the timing belt on this van and it snapped the day before we were due to use the van at a festival. On an older vehicle like this with a simple engine you might be lucky and avoid catastrophic engine damage. When the timing belt on my Ferrari 348 snapped, the engine was destroyed...along with my bank balance....

Hi mike I will try one of these test kit on my bedford ca camper before I strip the head down my seem to only running on three (ROUGH) plugs but all the plugs are firing fine ( ingition system good and new carburettor fitted) another great video cheers mark ps I love my fiat 1969 500l classic

Another excellent video Mike. Thank you. My 560 has been with the SLSHOP for a month or so for it’s MOT and a new steering box and some other odds and ends. One thing it needs is a small repair on the passenger seat. Do you know anyone who can help with leather repairs? Thanks 🙏
