Fi’s Fight Back - let’s do this 💪🏻

It’s been a very challenging few months. But after some time recharging, talks with my parents, I’ve realised how much time I am losing to this. And it scared me.
So I am fully recommitting myself to recovery.
Yes I fell over, but I am getting back up ✨

Fi, this timing is so perfect. 1. I’m SO PROUD of you for recommitting to doing all the hard work because you know you deserve YOU back, one minute, one next right thing at a time. 2. I say the timing is perfect, because I’m going to be filming my own, more-positive, recommitted-to-recovery video as my recent journey has been similar to yours (once discharged in late November, did well until the new year, and have been mostly stuck since mid-January, but literally a week ago I had a fire lit under me that has me more determined to just DO THE THINGS more than ever, because life is worth so much more than a disordered existence). I’m so thankful you had that conversation with your parents, and that it helped light that fire under you, too. It was a conversation with my husband that had a similar effect on me. You say “nothing has changed” in the last few weeks, but doing all that mental, thinking work IS changing, and it’s the only way we’re able to make further changes in actions. I’m not joking when I feel like our journeys right now are similar mirror experiences (granted, I’m 33 and married, so there are also some big differences, but the general trajectory and the thought processes you’ve been having about life, and what you REALLY want and don’t want, is so familiar). I’ve also been in a state of nearly continuous burnout which also results in anger, and I’ve been blaming myself, and literally last night, my husband said something similar to your mom when I was calling myself a failure and a screw-up: “No, YOU are not a failure. The system, and the disorder, has failed you, but YOU are not the failure. Failure only happens if you quit, and you’re working harder than I’ve seen anyone ever work to not quit.” I know this is a long comment, but I just want to say I’m rooting for you and cheering you on what that message, too. Like your mom said, you didn’t choose this, and the fact that you keep being so determined even when things are so freaking hard means you are the furthest thing from someone who’s failed or quit. This update is amazing, and I am almost in tears hearing your resolve to do whatever it takes to get YOU back. Both because I’ve followed your journey, and also because it feels very much like where I am, finally, too.

I love that in the "update" portion of this video you are sitting in your bedroom facing the window and the sunlight is shining on you. It is such symbolism for what you said about how you have been thinking about your life and finding your way out of the "dark place" ❤ Keep fighting, Fi! You've got this!! PS I found the cookies and creme CRISPY quest bars...if you'd like I can send you a box or 2 😊

I read something so amazing yesterday pertaining to making change. It went something like “the stonemason may strike a stone 100 times, yet it does not break until the 101st blow. It’s not because the 101st hit was that one to break the stone, but all others lead to the breakthrough.” So all in all even though progress may seem slow, keep going, keep going and one day your own stone will break and start resembling the work of art you are!! Consistency makes progress!

I totally agree. I've been there; & as difficult as inpatient is,it's really the only way to boost the calories and cut out exercise. Even incidental exercise- like standing. Though I wish Fi all the best, the recovery process is going to be so much longer at home. Also, inpatient provides more therapy opportunities.
