Fi Collar owner here: please note that the GPS service you buy for this is PREPAID and they DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS AT ALL past 30 days for the service even if your device breaks and you can't use the service anymore. I paid for a full year of GPS service, $119, in Oct and my device broke in Feb and they will not give a prorated refund for the 8 months of service I can't use anymore. Also, the device never once actually was able to find the GPS cell phone network. If your dog is standing under a tree, its too much interference. Don't get the GPS. In my opinion its a scam.

Both of my babies had escaped the backyard today after strong wind had blown the gate lock open and they saw the light and ran away. I did not know this till two hours later when I went to have them come inside and realized what had happened. I found one nearby almost immediately, but my larger dog took two hours to locate. Now I am looking online to see what kind of GPS doggie trackers are there out there to get each one one.

Cool soooooo what does the tracker look like?

So what’s the scenario when AT&T won’t work in your area and you have to use Verizon can you switch carriers with Fi?

I really like this product. However, I have gone through a couple collars because the plastic that joins the GPS/tracker to the collar breaks at the hinge if the dog is large or pulls extremely hard. They warranty replaced them both times. So kudos to them. To avoid the problem, I wish they would have incorporated some type of contiguous metal backplate to prevent this. Perhaps that would have interfered with the radio in the unit. As a workaround, I'm using a harness now so leashes won't be hooked to this collar. I just ordered a second collar for my new dog.

sad to find out, but thankfully before purchase, that the app is not available in my country. I was excited to get it for my Great Dane puppy

So I'm thinking two things. I'm thinking I'm going to make a habit and charge it once a week, like Sunday evening or something... so if she does get lost, she would have close to a full charge. I'm also thinking that if she actually get lost, I may not activate the "lost dog" mode--just in case we couldn't find her right away, that her battery would last a few days longer (active mode). 2 to 5 minute updates would be close together enough to find her, and we don't live in a heavily populated area.

Even a bi-weekly charge is probably more than enough to accommodate for that scenario, but there’s always some variance so you’ll want to test and see for the usage and connectivity around your home

@LMSTactical Absolutely not. It's called a disclaimer, reputable review sites always post that information. It's critical to assess if there is a chance of bias. In this case, if the product was given to him, this is a conflict of interest and ethically should be disclosed.

Hi all. I bought this collar because of your review. Thank you so much...it was helpful as I have searched for a collar for a while. I am also grateful that I did get the discount. However...the company is not responsive when issues arise. There is no number for tech support...it’s all via email and the tech that responded (Erica) didn’t even read my email. She simply sent me back to the online Q&A when I made it clear I already ran through that in the email. I hope this doesn’t come across as being rude, but selling a product has to be accompanied by the responsibility to address malfunctions. If anyone has help, please advise, the company doesn’t respond very effectively.

It has an added wifi component! This allows it to be more accurate and save more battery. Basically it wants to keep off the GPS function as often as possible because the GPS function easily burns the most battery compared Wifi and bluetooth! A slightly modified and reinforced design on the endlinks makes it stronger as well. The wifi function makes the accuracy better as well!

Question is, can I buy the collar. Pay for 1 month of tracking to setup the device. Then when the dog gets lost, I buy the plan again for 1 month just to find them?

That's a good question. Someone said in a different review you can purchase the GPS plan after you buy the collar (which I'm hoping is correct because I bought 2 for the valentines sale but didn't have enough for the GPS plan yet) but I don't know how fast it kicks in when you do it

My Dane Finn he is so huge he weights 100 pounds and he is 8 months old

What are the cons of this collar? Is there a monthly subscription to the GPS

@@legacy1776sibes you could buy the halo one for $800 plus a subscription fee. You can buy the FI one for as low as $50 when it's on sale. the subscription fee is for the GPS and cellular service, you know like your cellphone service.

I just don’t like having to subscribe for the gps function

Not sure how people provide ongoing services without recurring revenue. The cost of the collar/hardware would be prohibitive if they built it in. You pay monthly for your phone service. Same thing.

Just requested a refund after "using" the collar for the dog for a few days The app is complete garbage the customer service is all email based i cannot add a credit card to the account( i have tried 8 diffrent cards) so i cant add the year subscription i was gifted so i cant actually use the product properly. I cannot add people to the fi dog collar becuase it never actually sends out the text messege and invite code. Save yourself the headache and forget this product i have spent way to much time on something that should be very easy to use. (huge tech geek and pc/server builder)

Sounds like a mess. However, they have online chat which worked well for me and I haven't experienced any of the problems you have had.

I haven't had any of these issues. sure it's not a layer 8 issue.

*** DO NOT ORDER.*** It's a useless piece of junk. 1st, it's advertised as a GPS collar but it has to use the AT&T wireless network. 2nd, the collars are JUNK!!! I thought they looked great too, bought 2. Received 1 DOA, 2nd quit holding a charge after a week. Customer Support is non-existent. Can't speak to anyone, only by email and it take 2 weeks for the initial (useless) response. Save your money and move on to something else.
