【FHD】JR函館本線 函館駅にて ～夜の寝台特急発着編～(At Hakodate Station on the JR Hakodate Main Line at Night)
JR函館本線の起点駅である函館駅。その8番ホームは、本州と北海道を結ぶ寝台特急が発着するホームです。雪が強まる夜の函館駅で、日本の寝台特急の看板列車とも言える「カシオペア」「北斗星」上野行きの発着・機関車付替風景を撮影しました。
Hakodate Station, located at southern Hokkaido island, is an origin station of JR Hakodate Main Line. Sleeper limited express trains connecting Honshu main island and Hokkaido island use platform No.8. I took movies of arrival, coupling of locomotive, and departure scenes of 2 major sleeper express train CASSIOPEIA and HOKUTOSEI at Hakodate station at night.

Thanks for the video. I miss Japan a lot. Brings back lotsa good unforgettable childhood memories. I can imagine myself standing right next to the platform.

@Dr Moriarty getting something is not always deserving it. Sometimes it's more about luck and getting in the right time and in the right place. Getting born to a rich family might also be a kind of luck.

Unfortunately after opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, almost all night train services in Japan are withdrown with one last remaining train ("Sunrise Izumo/Seto"). (Maybe there will be a renaissance of night travelling as the ÖBB has shown with some new lines even in Germany)

I can say that if in the UK we had even a fraction of that snow, no trains would run at all.

一度北斗星に乗ったことがありますが、発車して数時間経ってもまだ北海道を走って居たのにはビックリでした。 それと函館でバックするとは気が付きませんでした、ディーゼル機関車から電気機関車に変えていたんですね。 ただ青函トンネルがうるさくて眠れなかった記憶があります。

上り列車（札幌17:12発→函館21:38着→上野9:38着）は全行程の約4分の1の時間を北海道で費やしていました。非電化区間を通るので遅くなるのはやむを得ないでしょう。青函トンネルは音が逃げないので、確かにうるさいかもしれません。独特のワクワク感はありましたが。

以前北斗星を冬に利用した時に函館駅に着いた時車窓のカーテンを僅かに開けて外に広がる雪景色の駅を見て……嗚呼、又此処に来れたンだなと半分うつらうつらしながら感慨に浸って居ました。(^_^)

Ｄ系だと重連、Ｅ系だと単独牽引。 やはり相当馬力が違うんだな。 しかし、両方とも廃止になってしまったのは、ほんとうに勿体無い。 新幹線なんて、函館には来なくて、北斗着。 なんでいちいち不便にするかね。

最初の計画では新幹線は現函館駅に乗り入れる予定でホームも新幹線対応で作られました。それが予算の都合で今の新函館北斗駅になりました。はっきり言って新函館北斗駅には何も無いし。周りもホテルとレンタカー位しかないのでつまらない新幹線駅です。もし現函館駅に新幹線が乗り入れてたらまだ新幹線の利用者も多かったと思います！

Very true just basic metro subway is filthy. Though I wonder why the usa can't do this they are wealthier than Japan they are the wealthiest country in the world yet behind Japan

新幹線や飛行機だけではつまらない。寝台列車で行く旅情もまたいいんですよ。興奮とレールの振動で何度も夜中に目を覚ましては、今、どこを走っているのか景色から確認する。季節列車で運行して欲しいな。
