Let’s be real, after JAlter banner people will probably go “Save for Memelin” next. It just never ends. Honestly, in a game with no PvP mode, I think you should just use the servants/team comps you enjoy. Though I do understand the “I want to use my fav servants that aren’t viable, so as long as I add this particular busted servant to my team, they’ll be somewhat viable” mentality. So, to each their own. I guess.

S I Jalter is cute and strong but I rolled for Edmond instead (for multiple reasons such as "I just like him a lot") and got him. However, I *am* one of those that are saving for Merlin - and will never whale. It's not for the memes or anything but he's a great Servant (as everyone knows) and I have no support Servant. That and I severely lack of good Casters. Of course, I also like Merlin as a character so that just motivates me more. It will be hard to just ignore some other Servants that I really like but they'll be permanent anyway, unlike him (well, except for the Summer Servants ... *cry*). Anyway, I agree that people should just use the Servants that they like ! I don't plan on replacing Sanson by Shiki anytime soon, no matter how unreasonable that sounds. ^^

I don't care about Jalter! I want to roll for him just because he is Badass in his animations (also im generally a quickstar guy)

Yeah, tough timing for him since we know Jalter is coming soon. Does have some cool animations. Just someone you have to plan a bit to make the best use of him. Probably going to go nuts on his banner since there are good servants down the road.

I agree that Jalter just being around the corner doesn't do him any favors but there's already a thread of people rolling for him on the reddit. I'll be passing on him however, don't know very much about him as a character and he doesn't fill any gaps on my team.

Jalter is so overhyped...shes in general good, but in terms of raw damage, mama raikou and cu alter are both better(with cu alter even having good survivability due to his skills), i'm still rolling on her banner, since its a decent chance at a kaleido.

In a vacuum, of course raikou and cu alter outdamage Jalter when considering those servants in and of themselves, aka in a "last man standing" situation. You might not be aware that FGO is a team comp game - as such, supports and servant interplay comprise the bulk of this game's strategy. You'll find out that Jalter's damage potential far outweighs that of mama and cu when supported to her critical buster style.

STEVE LO I like Angra but it’s just a given to get him since he’s the only 0 star servant and Puppy avenger is life

He also suffers from the game design as well, quick being weak at the moment. It's imo important to notice that he is vanilla with no interlude or anything, if DW has mercy Dantès might get the throne back aha ! And don't worry about the château d'If thingy, us French won't blame someone who's trying to pronounce given how hard french is :) Overall again a good spotlight ! Thanks !

I really enjoyed using him during the event so I decided to throw a couple of tickets in for funsies and got him on the third one. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the Avenger card since I typically have awful luck in this game with just one 5* in my box until now. I wasn't planning on rolling for Jalter since her release is way too close to Shuten's so I'm really glad I got him. :D

Thanks for the review! With his banner and event back, I was contemplating on whether or not to try to get him. Also I've never seen anyone reach 74 critical stars before! What the fudge Dantes!? He's secretly an assassin.

I've been looking forward to this Spotlight so much, considering I've been looking forward to Edmond Dantes!!! I will be trying to get him whether or not Jalter is around the corner or not because of 3 reasons: 1. He's a freaking Badass Servant that deserves some love. 2. I personally LOVE Crit Servants and since I'm working on a Pure Crit Team he'll fit in perfectly, especially since I have Jack on the Team who'll almost guarantee 100% Crit chances for all of my Servants every other turn practically. 3. The person who designed Edmond Dantes is the exact same person who designed all of the character designs for Danganronpa!!!! ^_^ So, all I can say is this: Edmond Dantes PLEASE come to my Chaldea??? I'll welcome you with open arms!!! ^_^ Also, thanks again for another Servant Spotlight; they always help man!! ^_^

I've been waiting for this guy to come out, so of course I'm going to roll for him. I've kind of been trying to build an Arts team, but maybe if I do manage to get him he'll be my inspiration to build a crit team.

I made my own version of an Avenger summoning incantation for this very moment. He popped up as the last card in my first pull. That's destiny right there. Even if he may be relatively weak and situational as hell, I fully intend to level him ASAP. He looks cool, he sounds badass, and he's an Avenger, which is a refreshing change from everything else. Not to mention having a level 90 Dante and Salter oughta be good bait for Jalter.

Got him today, it is worth waiting for Skadi and his strengthening quest, wait and hope

Dantes will always be my favorite servant. I have him lvl 100, np 2, 10/8/7 right now. I should have his skills maxed by summers end.

I was looking for “Dantes 3T quest” and came across this video. Oh my, how the times have changed XD

He will be perfect in my pseudo quick team with scath,bryn and waver. bryn and waver for an emulation of self modification from jalter and aoe quick for def down and stars for scath, seems good for me

I really like Teacher and I on him with Waver and Hercules as team comp. The CE gives HP, 50% NP, and 300% Star absorb. Seems to all-around make him better.

awaiting the re-evaluation. although, by himself he is still not the greatest, but an NP buff does give him a nice boost and skadi exists now.

i really want him, he is my absolute extra class goal along with jeanne. i plan to have about 150 quartz and 30 tickets on his rerun event in jannuary, and im SO hyped for that because the odds are considerably good. dont care if jalter is a superior avenger or if memelyn killed quick servants with his buster memes, dantes is just SO rad and his story is amazing. would get him over jalter and any other avenger any day any time.

I know you haven't done many servants that are 1-3 star, and it may take awhile for you to get around to them, but I'd love to eventually hear your thoughts on Sanson and Jekyll n' Hyde.

Thanks to his hight attack and att mod, Dantes is ranked 4th in BQA chain, and ranked 8th in dmg dealed by cardset. Skillset is useful, but lacks of survivability, star gen is good and he can pick extra stars from 3rd skill, he lacks of a good np gain you can mitigate with golden rule, inv pierce + att is also great. NP dmg is also good, not great, but better than Drake, for the star weight problem you can overgenerate stars with Jack/Okita and 2030s or get a CE to star abs for him. In the proper team (quick), with the proper CEs(2030 x2 + Teacher and I for him), this servant is one of the best whole game.

He does require specific setup and support, but yea as you saw in the video he can be a beast in the right team when he can spam his NP and generate 50+ stars from chaining it every other turn.

Personally, I think he should be a little higher in your rankings, even if it a B minus. But I will concede since you made some good points about his weaknesses.

Based on the JP Event timeline, if we skip the Karna/Arjuna banner since we got it in January, we should expect Jalter between March 21st or the 28th. Really hopin we dont have to wait for April since we can expect Accel Zero Order that month too

I don't agree with that, I compare all servants across the board, in that case I judge them based on how useful their niche is. A buster damage dealer is more useful than a crit star generator strictly speaking. But even when you take Jalter out of the equation Jack is a better crit star generator and MHX is roughly just as good

Edmond generate less star,but as a avenger he have only 30 star weight,so most of the star goes for your critical servant,I used him with my karna and works pretty well.But i must agree his usefulness is pretty limited

Attendre et Esperer, indeed. This review was 2 years ago... But now, post-Skadi and post-SQ: Jeanne Alter sits on the Single-target throne, while Dantes reigns supreme on the AoE damage throne. We waited, Dantes, and see how our patience has been rewarded.

I got him on both my accounts with tickets and a bit of SQ... I was trying for Kscope, didn't get that of course. :P Now I'm thinking about how/if to use this guy. I think I might Prisma Cosmo him on my main and see what kind of NP spam I can get in a full Arts team.

Dantes do have one of the most coolest animations in the game. But however I have quartz and tickets with Jeanne Alter name on it lol. So once again I won't be rolling on this banner. But he does come back next year. And trust me I can wait on him. But Alter cannot. And it's hard passing up on banners but honestly the banners we got recently hasn't been worth rolling on idk if it's just me that feel that way though but yeah.

i like his animation and character design

I heard that Dantes can summon Grand Avenger with his right hand and those beams shooting from him can deal damaged even with a soul and he doesn't feel pain. When u got in jail for like 20 years, everything u hab is from an oldman.

Teacher and I would work really well with him due to the 50% charge and it compensates for his really low star weight with its 300% star gather.

Yea that works too, although even with 300% his star weight will still be lower than assassins/sabers/archers/riders

I passed on him before since Jalter was on the horizon at the time, but since the gacha wasn’t with me either time she was on rate-up, I’m going to try for him once he becomes available again. By the way, are you going to do an update video on him now that he has a strengthening quest for his noble phantasm in no, or wait until that quest some westward?

I don't even care that it's easy to shit on the crit meta. Crit teams are fun, and I got what it takes to support him. That said, I'll only pull f2p on Dantes. I got my eye on other banners in the future.

I did a couple of 10-shots on my main account and didn't get him, not going super hard for him. But I've kinda really grown to like his edgelord aesthetic, and I remembered I created a throwaway account on emulator around Halloween. I had like 70 quartz waiting in my present box. 27 quartz worth of single pulls later, who should grace me with his presence but the Count himself. I guess I kinda have to keep this account now. But I probably won't be playing events on it, grinding one is bad enough.

If they decide to buff his golden rule (which is unlikely since skadi just makes him tol much OP, but not sure if servant combos are taking to account on DW strenghthen choices, specially if its a limited 5*) its better to give him 1 turn or 1-2 times evade along with a star gather or star generation so that he can either get some stars or just generate so much stars that wont matter so much.

There's two sides to it. On one hand, a Quick buff would only make him even more powerful with Double Skadi (something we don't need) but at the same time, I don't like how much he relies on her to make him good. He needs some self sufficiency so he can do more with more teammates and team comps than just "Oh, stick him with Skadi." That's great for farming, but it gets boring a repetitive as far as story and CQs. Golden Rule > King of the Cavern EX NP Gain 20%-50% 3 Turns Quick Up 20%-30% 3 Turns Crit Dmg 20%-30% 3 Turns Outside of the meta, Jalter is still the more powerful and consistent servant between the two, Edmond just needs a little more going for himself.

I'm curious actually, what are thoughts on Kid Gil, i've managed to get 3 of him during the Chaldea banner and am curious how he is compared to David.

3 rolls, all tickets, Darius, Jekyll, and Dante. Saving the remaining tickets and quartz for Nightingale, Cu-alter (doubt) and Jalter.

blastmako05 I got him! Took around 120 quartz but Count of Hope’s Peak came home :’^) Definitely feels nice, i got absolutely nothing when I spent 240+ for Karna/Arjuna, so this made me happy lol. Edmond may not be as good as Jalter, but he’s been my biggest target since my last failure, and my friends list will be flooded in Jalters anyways lol (plus Jalter’s not a husbando :p ) Sorry for the novel of text lol

No, instead Im going to do 1-2 longer videos that cover all the 1-3* servants that are worth noting that I haven't covered. I would love to do spotlights for them but it just takes too much time

Dantes is too cool to actually look at the fight until it's his turn to attack. I imagine that reverse-facing bug would be especially hilarious on team with him.

To be fair, when taking damage his NP bar suddenly fill quite fast. 6% NP regen on defense combined with the avenger's passive +20% NP regen on defense makes it him get 7.2 NP bar per hit, and when further boosted by golden rule he can get anywhere from 8.64 to 10.8 per hit depending on level. When going against multi-hitting monsters/bosses, his NP bar can suddenly shot from 0 to 100 from one enemy attack. That said. Abusing this part of his requires enemies to actually hits him and teammates that have defensive buffs and/or healing to mitigate damage taken given an Avenger's general squishiness. Enemies that always hit him tend to be big as well, which works against his NP star generation and lower AoE damage. Ultimately fights where one can employ all of his strengths are few and far between. But when found he becomes an NP spamming, foe NP stalling, star generating, defense debuffing and debuff resistant monstrosity, perfect for any crit servant to take advantage off. PD: Wisdom from Desperation and Determination of Steel would make him a good piece for any quick stall team if that ever get's of the ground.

Then Assassin Emiya should be his partner considering he has a targetable taunt and Reines for the protection plus her atk up and tactician advice can benefit dantes, i would recommend Waver but i just think Reines would be better since you would want a crit team or quick team revolving around Dantes because he is reliant on stars. Rider as her class is the problem but the ce you recommended should take some of those stars or just replace emiya woth MHXA to use king's invisible hand and increase your atk. Basically Reines/MHXA/Dantes should be a good team

Will be skipping him so I can save my SQs for Jeanne Alter, the Avenger I truly want. i have everything ready for her such as XP cards and ascension materials except for the new one from the NA singularity.

For me having waver as support and shishou to boost Edmond quick attk is enough for me

I totally agree with this one but I feel like Skadi is gonna change things up
