THE SILVER and black looks so sick everywhere

Nice mate! I have to change the coils in my missus FG - "Nah, I can do it babe... won't need to pay someone!" frantically searching youtube for tutorials before they arrive. Looks like nothing to worry about, though now I want to paint the rocker cover too haha!

Ok , I got them out but had to brake the cam seals to do it . There is a metal band that I cracked and out they came . Now need new seals lol!

It's because they come out before undoing the rocker cover bolts once u losen the rocker cover it puts upwards pressure preventing u from pulling them out

Thank you no bullshit no life story just straight into it now to attempt the same with my pice of shit falcon. Update took it apart replaced the gaskets didn’t fix the problem thinking now might be a vacuum leak but at least now I feel like a qualified mechanic so I’m putting that down as a win.

Great vid . Loved it ..I'm an XR6 owner too . Mine could do with a paint because it's a 2008 N/A with a plain rocker cover but I'd have chucked the ratchet over the fence getting at that last bolt or two. You have way way more patience than me .

Rodney McGiveron Thanks mate, glad you liked it! Yeah the bolts at the rear are the worst haha.

I might just do this to my BA Rocker cover. Good job. :) You could do with a NEW PCV Valve. AUC 6A666A, You can re use the black elbow as well, just run hot water over it and it should pull off easier then, heat it up again to put it back on the new PCV valve.

don't do this on a BA 2002-2005 model, actuator solenoids do not pull out and do not turn, remove oil seals then lift front of cover slightly then carefully push cover towards firewall yo clear solenoids then remove cover

Are there actually any rockers left under there or are they called cam covers on these things? How's your job going btw?

Barras have rocker arms so they are rocker covers unlike RB engines

Good video buddy, got a Question 0:30 you can clearly see at the Rear of the Engine the Lift point on it just sticking out from the Exhaust manifold cover, now my question is where is the front one? on previous Barras like Ba and earlier fords it was on the opposite side but at the front just a little back from the top thermostat but its not there, to lift engines out you need to pick up points, can you see anything or know how this is done?

putting em back in, used loctite no.3 on the seals so i think the extra slip made it easy to over torque em

Danish Zaidi After removing the 7mm bolts holding them in you just need to pull them out, if they don’t pop straight out you may need to try lightly prying them out with trim tools if you have them? You can use flathead screwdriver but run the risk of scratching something.

@@jonkillings2747 I was able to remove mine that day, had to remove the throttle body and slide the cam cover back to remove it. then I removed the 8mm bolts holding the solenoids down, of course, mine wasn't the same engine.

Jon Killings I work at a dealership now and see some less favourable mechanics in action and they are the exact reason I choose to work on my own cars. Plus it’s very rewarding when you finish jobs that improve your own vehicle 😏

Have you removed both VCT solenoids yet?

If so and you are sure all securing bolts have been removed then you just need to break the seal. If you have access to a wood block and hammer, you can hold the block up to the left side of the rocker cover and hit a few times then alternate to the right side and repeat until it budges. Once it starts shifting you should be able to pull it up and out of the engine bay

Once the rocker cover has some free play in it be careful as you don’t want to bash it around after that as it could damage valvetrain components inside it

Best to remove the phasers 1st... they sometimes jam

NahyehBro Thanks mate! I bought a new gasket kit for the reinstall. Comes with rocker cover, spark plug holes and PCV valve hole gaskets 👍

Nah I did 2 years as an apprentice at a dealership, just towbar after towbar and trailer brakes lol. Ended up changing careers to a Production operator at Zinc smelter and left cars as a hobby. Have since rebuilt a few engines and played with turbo's etc so have learnt a fair chunk of info amongst some trial an error 😅
