    I do have question related to the opener, why you wouldn't open with the dot damage immediately? I've kinda naturally gone to meikyo -> true north -> kasha -> higanbana -> kasha -> gekko, since wasting one meikyo stack on yukikaze feels awful considering how fast you can get it.

  • @Juliacare

    @Juliacare

    Жыл бұрын

    This is a good question and it all has to do with your party. Generally all rotations in final fantasy take about 3 GCDs to get started so most raid buffs get sent out 3 GCDs in. By putting our DoT into the raid buffs we get the full increase in damage over the entire duration of the DoT. Depending on how many buffs and the types of buffs this can be up to 40%! That's why it's key that our strongest actions are put into these raid buffs as it's such a huge gain. The "wasted" meikyo stack isn't truly wasted just slightly less potent, and that decrease is less than the increase we gain from putting that first midare and higanbana into buffs.

    So do I press meikyo shisui on cooldown? Or just use it when I need, or hold it for burst windows?

  • @Juliacare

    @Juliacare

    Жыл бұрын

    you typically use it on the odd and even minute burst around the time your kaeshi comes off cd, doing a small burst on the odd minute like so: midare kaeshi shisui gcd higan and in your even minute you would do ikishoten midare kaeshi shisui gcd higan ogi kaeshi ogi fairly easy to see, just keep looking at your kaeshi cooldown

    @Juliacare which melee job is easiest to play, your top 2 at level 90?

  • @Juliacare

    @Juliacare

    Жыл бұрын

    Thats a difficult question as it depends a lot on what is easier for a person. I personally played a lot of casters so the casting of SAM’s quickdraw abilities isn’t bothersome for me but that could be detrimental for others. Generally DRG and RPR are considered easiest, although each has their quirks, like ogcd animation locks on drg and double enshroud plus the occassional cast on rpr. SAM and NIN are also not too complex, both just having a higher point of entry due to the mudra system and the fact sam’s cast more than smn’s. Lastly, monks are without a doubt the most difficult melee to play.

  • @Iamvandamme

    I loved your previous guides even on jobs that I already had played a bit, I decided to pick up SAM for this tier and this is once again a great guide. My only gripe with SAM is them removing an ability like Kaiten that had a genuine use, but not streamlining the single target/aoe veriants (like the RDM burst combo is all AoE, and it's fine, it's chill) of various other abilities, the way pretty much every other job has done, I haven't had trouble comfortably playing a job with my current skillbar set-up be it NIN or whatever other action heavy/button heavy job (except BLM, but that's a different story), but something about SAM still doesn't feel right and I think I'll have to straight up rearrange all of my skillbars to pretty much focus heavily on single target comfort, since that's what matters for Savage raiding usually, and will see where I go from there. Hopefully muscle memory and practice with the job does it's thing.

    I play on PS4 and I had to move my buttons around because I usually have my first single target attack of a combo mapped to the circle button, the second one mapped to X, and then the third one mapped to square but because of the way sen works it was throwing me off. Now I have it so that my first attack is mapped to the x button so that the sand on the left aligns with square (which is also on the left) and the sen on the right alligns with circle (which is also on the right). I main Dark Knight and when I went back to playing it it totally threw me off and I kept hitting the wrong button, messing up my combo so I had to move that around and I expect I'll have to change it for every job that I play. Samurai is the only job that I have to really do that for
