FFXIV: Endwalker Sage 1 to 90 Leveling Skills Guide

Ойындар

Patch 6.4: Eukrasian Dosis III now 75 potency, range of several buffs doubled.
Patch 6.3: Phlegma cooldown reduced to 40 seconds, lining up for burst windows easier.
Eukrasian Prognosis shields on yourself will now grant Addersting.
Patch 6.28: Phlegma III now 600 potency.
Patch 6.2: Holos buffed to have a 100% of Healing shield applied as well.
Patch 6.1: Lucid Dreaming now level 14. Dosis costs 300 MP. Soteria is now 4 stacks of improved healing on Kardia, worth an improved 70%.
Starting a duty now begins Sage with 3 Addersting. Still learn how to get free Addersting between pulls in dungeons.
New? Got too many skills? Made the mistake of doing this job as the first healer you pick? Just hate reading? Try this guide out!
This guide seeks to teach new Sages how to Sage properly, without getting too deep into optimization. I'll be showing off and explaining some openers but not delving too much deeper beyond that and general skill usage. Endgame is a long way away and there's lots to learn along the way. Start slow and work your way up one skill at a time! Then, graduate to more advanced guides.

great combo for big pulls: krasis, physis, kerachole, pan/haima. should be able to do it every pull. alternating panhaima and haima, and you have 15seconds of not caring if the tank uses mitigation pretty much. and when it all wears off you still have taurochole + druo + soteria for heals if anything is still alive. very comfy

Just wanted to point out a thing that you missed covering Eukrasian Diagnosis: normal shield overwrites applies, but ED (no not that one) doesn't overwrite a Scholar's critted Adlo, or Catalyze. It only overrides the Galvanize part of the shield. So theoretically, one character can have Eukrasian Diagnosis Shield, Differential Diagnosis Shield, and a Scholar's Catalyze Shield all on top of each other, for big ass shields. I think the same applies with Scholar's Galvanize, in that it doesn't remove the Differential Diagnosis Shield from the ED crit.

That's more a fringe case of a fraction of a percent. You need a SCH and a SGE, both need to make the poor decision of using their GCDs (or be low level, or pre-pull), and both crit. While something possible, didn't seem like worth the few seconds to show off in this already super long video. It'll work, but it's such a rare potential thing

  • @Vindex010

    @Vindex010

@@WeskAlber Yeah it is really fringe lol. Just wanted to point it out since I've experienced it fairly often when on 8-man roulettes as a Sage, and when the Scholar and I both try to preshield the Main Tank before the pull. Since in Scholar's case they have a sure way to proc it I just call that cheating on their part

Me, who has been playing Sage since early access and became pretty comfortable with it: I need to watch this. Great guide for people getting into Sage. The thing about control and combining different abilities is true but it takes some time getting used to it. But if you get a hang of it, Sage is a lot of fun. And also pretty strong. The way I approach wall to wall pulls in dungeons: Pre-pull Eukrasian Diagnosis. While the tank is still pulling, Eukrasion Dosis on as many enemies as possible. Refresh Eukrasian Diagnosis when the shield breaks to get more Addersting. When the tank stops, I start AoE damage and weave the following abilities in this order: Krasis on tank -> Physis II -> Kerachole -> Haima/Panhaima. The first three can be used with every pull because of their low cooldown. And you can alternate between Haima and Panhaima. With this you get 10% damage reduction, two buffed regens and a buffed shield on the tank. Combined with the heal from Kardia and the tank's own mitigation and self heal this is usually enough to get through the critical phase of pulls. After the DR from Kerachole drops, I use Taurochole to get another 10% DR up on the tank and after that whatever the situation requires. This is basically what Momo does in his "How to Sage in Dungeons" guide. I can really recommend this guide as an additional resource. It helped me a lot when I reached Endwalker dungeons.

Tip to anyone starting the job: DO NOT underestimate kardia's heals. It is a HUGE source of healing over time, even when compared to the rest of your kit over the course of a dungeon. You want to be spamming your damage gcds to make full use of it because it will add up immensely. Do that and it's very likely that kardia will take top spot on your list of healing done by skill, even in a dungeon like Mt. Gulg that can make you use your full kit for 2/3 of the trash. If you haven't been trying too hard to always be casting and keep your uptime close to 100%, now is the time to start working toward that, especially in trash pulls where your aoe offers you completely free movement and weaves.

I just wanted to say, thank you. I've been really struggling with healing with what used to be my primary healing job. (astrologian) but Since picked up Sage and with this guide along with some others, i've vastly improved my performance, I'm still not performing like amazingly but certainly better on Sage than i ever did as an astrologian. and in hindsight, your warning to "not start healing with Sage" was what made me nervous going in to level it since astrologian was not going well for me. and honestly, Sage feels a lot easier than astro is, I feel like i should have recieved that warning about astrologian in retrospect, astrologian feels way worse of a choice for "your first healer" than Sage is. Which is funny because it starts at a lower level and ON PAPER it's not that different from white mage but in practice it's way more difficult than any other healer in my experience so far. Astrologian is certainly more overwhelming than Sage is in terms of OGCD management, how tricky it is to get the most out of Star compared to how "fire and forget" stuff like Pheuma is, but it may just be because astrologians have the "hardest" bread and butter opener of the healers because of Divination and how mission critical perfect weaving is for that job due to cards. It's funny when i look back on my logs where on Sage i generally have a few minor instances on not weaving properly where i went like addersgall heal+cooldown before i went back to dosis spam, where with Astro is was more like 18 instances of incorrect weaving/delayed malefics and 90 percent of them were card management related.

Great video! One thing I wish it had though, was heal rotations how you do DPS openings. You mention a few times the order you use the skills in to optimize them, and I think it would be amazing if you had a graphic like you do for the DPS. I struggle to keep the names of the skills straight with Sage since they all sound so alike, and a picture graphic would really help me visualize it better.

A tip I want to add about Kardia in trials and raids, a good way to heal a party member back up, if they get hit by an AoE, or after they get raised, give that person Kardia, you can also use Soteria after you give them kardia, if you're low on addersgall or might need them for an upcoming mechanic. Just remember to give the tank kardia again after you've healed your party member.

LOVE the point "Be sure to heal your team member AFTER they are raised..." THIS is something healers need to learn like yesterday! I can't even count the many times a healer will waste an insta raise and then walk away, only for the newly raised ally to die again due to a party wide AOE or just from normal damage. I don't know how this lazy practice got started but should be addressed community wide. Thanks for mentioning! Great video btw!

Your job videos are easily some of the best content for new players. Ive watched most if not all of them multiple times. That being said, this video has me utterly confused. Im trying to make my sage play more efficient so i dont constantly feel like im on the backfoot barely keeping the tank alive in dungeons (sage is the only healer i feel like this on). But it seems like every single spell sage has you say “you will rarely if ever use this spell” which leaves me wondering. What am i SUPPOSED to be using then? Especially pre Krasis?

I got to 90 mostly from level roll and msq roll. And level roll put me everywhere from 15-44. So level 70 unlocl to 90 I spent 95% of my time being level 50 or lower. So I have no clue how to play it past 50 lol. And it was brutally difficult to keep the tank alive in Aurumn Vale and Dhezmel. Oh and for the record I mained whm to 90 and am super comfortable on it. Sge was super hard for me in the beginning and at specific level areas. It wasn't until I started doing moogle tomes from msq rolls that I started to enjoy the class.

First let me say I always enjoy your videos. I started leveling sage yesterday. I’ve mostly been doing duty support because I get anxiety. But the few times I’ve done roulettes, the tank just melts on their first pull. I’m throwing so many things at them and their health just disappears. I’m a tank main and I just don’t get it.

Small note, pretty sure Haima and Panhaima are both 6 stacks of shield. 1 shield is applied on use, then 5 extra stacks of backup shields that can be applied. Not sure if the heal at the end consumes the shield you currently have, or only the backup stacks. Edit: oh yeah you mentioned this cool

Alber, I have a question regarding Toxicon, as I keep seeing mixed messages regarding the skill from other videos and players alike. Some say this is a wonderful skill you should charge up during boss fights and dump on big wall to wall pulls as much as you can, while other's make it seem like the skill is basically worthless and pretty much just to be used if you need to move while fighting. From what you say, I tend to believe you are in the latter camp, am I right or could you further explain greater ways to clear the fog for me with this skill, because so far I use it on big packs and try to get charges from bosses.

    1. DPS gain is so minimal that the argument for it is pointless 2. AoEs Centered on target lose effective range, while centered on player have full range based on your ability to place yourself. 3. Anyone who says it's worthless is just an idiot. 4. 44:15

Did you do daily roulette when raising Sage? I find myself being completely useless at lower sage levels, especially with tanks who drag the whole dungeon onto themselves. I use Kardia and the healing buff on the tank, the prognosis shields on the group, the regen, and kerochole, then Eukrasia dosis on the target then spam dosis and use druochole when needed. But it just seems like it doesn't matter, the tank just dies miserably multiple times. I realize we are all like level 54 but I don't think they do.
