Years ago , I unlocked the Dark Knight in early Chapter 1, took me nearly 1 month , Totally worth it lol. Lucky for the JP Boost passive to speed it up.

This timing couldn’t be more perfect. I just unlocked the dark knight class in the game. Haven’t played since the PS1 days so having this new class will be fun.

Without a doubt my biggest "Man I wish this class was playable" when I played the original game back in 97. When War of the Lions was released, I was stoked, but I felt their re-do of the class was a bit more convoluted, and broken. I was a bit disappointed by how over-powered the class was and would have preferred they keep it as it was for Gaff. Nonetheless, it's still a super fun class to play, and if you are willing to go to the incredibly taxing and overbearing lengths to mod the game, the Dark Knight can be nerfed a bit and really add to any playthrough. Great video as always. Would love to see some backstory/lore videos pertaining to characters, locations, propositions, items, etc. With your video quality and format, they would make some really intriguing and fun to watch vids.

Brilliant and thoughtful analysis, Forrest, thank you! 💪 I agree completely, with abilities like Crushing Blow and Unholy Sacrifice being extremely powerful and over the top compared to what you see from Gaffgarion, and are on par with Holy Knight skills from Orlandeau. There was a distinct separation between generic and unique characters BEFORE the Dark Knight was introduced, and the line is now a lot more blurry. I also appreciate your idea to explore some more backstory and character development. I think that's a great idea! I for sure will be doing a story recap once my first playthrough is complete; from there I think I have an opportunity to do some deep dives into the characters, their motivations, and hopefully shed some light on minor details that add to the rich world presented to us. This is a little outside my comfort zone for content creation, with the research and sourcing footage; but to me, that's a call to grow my skills, and I will look to undertake something like this in the future, as I think it's a solid idea and would garner appreciation from viewers. @@forrestredd2706 That's hilarious, no it's actually a 3D print of me that a friend got for my birthday a few years ago! There was a site where you could take a front and profile picture of someone and they would create a sculpt for you in your choice of uniform color, pose and accessory. Unfortunately they went out of business. So sadly not Riker, and sadly it's no longer available to purchase. 😭

Dark knight itself isn't op , it's the crushing blow attack that completely catapults the class to absurd levels of broken , having an attack that can basically one/two shot most late game enemies in the game with no charge time and procs stop half of the time is insane. It's like a stronger version of stasis sword. That's why dark knight is the 2nd best class in the game

I wish Dark Knight could learn Dark Holy

Hi Jon, thank you for the kind words! I do not have a video on Cloud specifically yet, though a Job Focus on unique Jobs like Soldier and others are in the works. Taking a quick peek at the Limit abilities they mostly look to be MA-based, so pumping up your MA seems wise here. Maybe look into classes like Samurai for additional skills that lean on MA. Oh, and don't forget to find his Materia Blade as a prerequisite to using his Limit skillset!

Also, give him the Time Mage's Short Charge ability, to lessen how long his Limit Breaks take to act.

@@ryanchurchill5081 Everyone can do well with Dark Knight. Issue with Agrias is that her stats are actually very low for a story character so Ramza tends to do better as a dark knight espeically with unqiue skills like shout.

I would suggest the Growing Units with Super Stats video for more detail, but generally speaking each unit has different rates of growth for each main stat, and you will want lower numbers for higher rates of growth.

@@samhende592 Sure thing, so you have the gist of it: the growth factor is a denominator in a division formula. The lower the value, the higher the bonus is added to your raw stats, a hidden value that determines your final stats that are visible.

It's SO much, PK, I don't blame you! There are probably efficient ways of planning your grind by utilizing passive JP accrual so your melee units don't have to take the time to master a Black Mage and lower their PA growth, and that doesn't make it any less brutal. Glad you stopped by to check out the episode, and validate why it's just easier to use a save file editor! 😂

The class is ok, as long as you're not doing a SCC (Single Class Challenge). Having access to only its own abilities, it has little healing, especially if you're fighting undead enemies. I know, I'm doing a Dark Knight SCC for one of my playthroughs in the WotL Android version. My other playthoughs include a Ramza +4 monsters Challenge and a "Final Fantasy V Challenge," where, for this challenge , the only jobs that can be used are from the corresponding Crystals/Chapter. A list for better explanation: Chapter One - Wind Crystal: Squire (heh, Suppin), Knight, Monk, Thief, White Mage, Black Mage, and Oracle (Blue Mage) Chapter Two - Water Crystal: Wind Crystal + Time Mage, Summoner, and Calculator (Red Mage). Chapter Three - Fire Crystal: Wind and Water + Bard, Archer, Mediator, Ninja, and Geomancer. Chapter Four - Earth Crystal: Wind and Water and Fire plus: Samurai, Lancer, Chemist, Dancer, and Mime. (I also added Dark Knight and Onion Knight to this since this was made for the original version, and they didn't have an updated version for WotL). Exception to this rule: Being a job for the sole purpose of moving on. A good example is the Archer. If you want to have Thief, you must go through Archer. That's fine. Just don't equip any Archer abilities until the Chapter Three. So, you can unlock a later class but won't be able to use it's abilities or skills until you reach the chapter in which they're "unlocked/made available."

Or chests. They just have to "dissappear" from the battle, and your own units do not count towards the 20 kills.
