Festool PS420 Quick Test

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a quick test of the new Festool Carvex PS420 cutting thick lumps of wood. It was produced to demonstrate, beyond all doubt, that the new Carvex machine can cut heavy timber - even hard Maple at 110mm thickness. The film was produced ahead of the review.

Hi Peter, which blade did you use for this test?

Hi Tom, It is the long wood blade (204264 I think). I have since used it to cut railway sleepers ! Peter

hi peter i just bought the carvex ps420, is it normal for the blade ejection to not function properly with the splinter guard installed? also sometimes the chuck does not syn with the release lever which causes me to use my finger to release the blade at the chuck. is this normal?

Tee Giang Hi Tee, The splinter guard will not allow the blade to twist when it is ejected and so has to be removed - the easiest way is to remove the whole foot with the (green) lever on the right. Yes, the saw does sometimes stop with the pendulum in the down position. You can use your finger as you say but if you run the machine for a few seconds several times it will get back into sync. It is a very minor quirk which is no big deal as one does not change the blade very often. Peter

So one battery is only good for 3-4 cuts of this wood size?

Hi Thi, That was a serious hard (and big) piece of wood and the battery used was only 15 volts. The modern 18 volt batteries, especially the Airstream ones, have far more power. Peter

Is the vacuum on? Seems like a lot of dust

Of all the Festool tools the jigsaw is the most difficult to capture all of the dust as is the case with every other make of jigsaw that I know. Even so, the dust collection is quite resonable and, with my CT26, it is only the larger particles that escape as the fine dust is caught. Peter

I'm sorry but it's more than a "fraction out" when you come out the back of the timber. You wouldn't get that with the mafell. I have many festool products but I feel the collated screw gun and the carvex are huge let downs

What screwgun do you use/recommend? Cheera from Sweden!
