Festool Live Episode 25 - HL 850 Planer
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
HL 850 E-F-Plus - (Item Number - 576258): www.festoolusa.com/products/p...
The HL 850 lets you cut flush to an adjacent surface because it can plane across the entire width of the rabbet. Because the planer head is mounted to one side, it sits flush with the opposite side of the planer housing. The retractable side guard makes planing safer, and it swings up and to the side as the rabbet depth increases. Planing up to the edge in deep rabbets is no longer a problem.
This is the new imperial version of this tool. It is identical to the previous version with the exception of the units on the depth scale.
-Single knife cutter-head with spiral design with a replaceable cutting knife for a smooth, quiet, and “chatter-free” cut.
-Multiple head options to create rustic architectural effects in beams and flooring.
-Unlimited rabbeting depth with flush cutter side design and retractable spring-loaded guard.
-Rotary handle depth adjustment allows precise depth settings to 1/256" (1/10 mm) up to 9/64" (3.5 mm).

Glad you enjoy it!
I will eventually treat myself to one of these. I have the EHL 65 and it’s amazing, quick and neat for planning down doors with man made materials in them. Plus the angled blade gives an amazing finish. Great video as usual.👍🏻😊
Awesome demonstration of the planer! Thanks!
You shouldn't have gotten rid of the Bench Unit planer stand.
Anyone know where I can purchase the angle unit? Having a hard time finding one.
Thanks for the tip about that beautiful fence! I will get it in a few days and report back, but clearly it is superior to the standard unit that comes with the tool.
Thank you for the enthusiasm! I have the jointer jig. I keep getting tapers on the cuts. Any advice?
Best FL episode yet! The unsung hero it is...it’s all I want from Santa this year is a HL plus all the heads !
First time I have seen that WOW. Love the aluminum fence that you demo'd as well. Great show thank you.

@Gustavo Jaxton definitely, I've been watching on KaldroStream for months myself =)
I would love an episode with your systainer/sortainer tips and tricks!
I can’t believe festool discontinued the bench unit for the HL 850. The angle fence is still available in Germany.
The camera work leaves me feeling sea sick!
Wicked quiet 🤫 love it
I have several festools but not a planer. Nice video, thanks for sharing your time. KANSAS
How does this do on 3/4" Plywood edge?
Thank you for your education. Why does this planner not have a “Plug it” cord?
I have it, it’s the dogs... the extra big fence is a must and yes it costs a bloody load of extra money. But it means you can have a door flat on trestles and use the plane on its side to shoot off a slight bevel to help with closing . So easy. It rebates in a class of its own. If any diy part time carpenter dewalt and Milwaukee experts want to tell me that it’s too expensive then fill your boots. Yes it’s at least three times as expensive as anything you have. But then I am three times the carpenter that you are.

He grows on you. He’s like that crackhead friend you have that always seems lit but he’s actually a teddy bear inside.
Rebate, not rabbit a rabbit is a thing that runs around fields of green over the pond he he he. Loved your video I've subscribed I'm new to festool I was a makita man on site. Now I'm self employed I'm moving to festool as its clinical and does what it should do.
5:47- a lot of chip quick.
How many planers do festool have?
Never trust someone who hasn’t sanded the “Festool” off their Clamping Elements dogs. Am I right?! 😂😂😂 Sedge! We need Clamping Elements tips addressing material lift and hex adjustment!
Of course the adjustable fence isn't available.
Nice.
Why don't you unplug the tool when you swap out the blades
🇧🇷 Boa noite família Festool!
QUESTION - Why is the power cord permanently connected?
@gregorydominguez4225

My best guess; based on the amperage required to operate the tool. Could also be a safety factor. This isn’t the only Festool with a fixed power cord.

Infuriating
It does the same as every other large handheld electric planer however it’s four to five times the price.
DUDE!!!! Where in the EFF can I get a festool baseball jersey?!?!?!

The single blade sucks, it works OK when it's razor sharp but there's a reason industrial planers have 3 or 4 blades, also the the amount of shear cut it has is tiny and honestly does f all. .
It's great to learn that we can't access discontinued products such as the jointer fence... ...What in god's name are we supposed to do with inaccessible accessories??? Are ya' joking with this?
@SingleTrack66

The jointer fence that he demonstrates is still available. It is the bench module that holds the plane upside down that is discontinued. In gods name, pay attention!

Tool is great, presentation of it not really....
Disappointing that you don't show how flat that you are able to plane a board with the straight blade and that you never checked the results of the cut you made with the side fence. The cuts you made with the planner on a 45 degree angle were very uneven. You can clearly see this when you pause the video and take a close look. For $680 dollars for this tool, you should be able to easily flatten a board, but it looks like no one wants to show you their results from attempting to do this. I have checked quite a few KZread videos and I am unable to find any where someone used a power planner to flatten a board. Looks like I will have to stick to a hand plane to do this.
Of course the adjustable fence isn't available.
