I got the Conturo about 16 months after it’s release in North America. In the last 7 days, 2 issues came up....yesterday one of my employees put the unit in the table to run some narrow stock. The banding placement was beyond terrible. First time I’ve ever seen the issue. Sedge had pointed out the guides that go into the ways on the table. After a test piece coming out terrible it was time to do some investigating. Well, it turns out the unit can be installed with only one guide in the guide way, this caused the unit to be tilted sides ways in the table. Once the unit was installed properly in the table all was right with the world. The second issue......same guy dropped the carbide last week, I’ve told everyone many time not to drop it, it will shatter. He proved me right. To quote a really great guy--”Hope this helps".

Am in jamaica how do I get my self one of these asap?

Well, here it is about 10 months after Sedge did the Conturo demo, but earlier this week I finally bought my Conturo. And today, the Conturo accessory set arrived along with a box of glue pucks and 500' of non-preapplied-glue maple banding. I've got several projects in the queue requiring edge banding, so hooray! I am hoping that as of today I can retire the trusty old iron with pre-glued banding and stop having to worry about the occasional de-lamination in spots on the edge banding.

Yes

So all the machine does is apply the glue and align the banding to the workpiece? Then you need a separate router to trim the banding?

yes, and you need to pay 4000 for it. But it has some advantages over stationary machines for the same price... you can take contour and edge band 4 meters of a panel. but you can't take 4m panel and edge band it on a. stationary machine.

@@antonstafeyev3606 you can on the machine where I work. The real advantage you failed to mention is the ability to edge band a radius.

@@kellym3610 well it also does all the drilling and routing with 5 axis, basically feed the part, get finished part out of it

Hey guys. I can’t use 0.5mm pvc tape, if I lower the temperature I don’t get enough glue on the tape, and I when I heat it up to 145° still melt the pvc tape, anybody has a solution? I would appreciate it if you let me know.

Can Conturo use 0.018 inch thick pvc edge banding tape?

I would say No, from my experience! Any time I use thicker pvc tape there is no problem. But as soon as it comes to think pvc. You will see lots of lumps and worst part is for some reason you can’t lower the temperature and that cause you more damage, I will melt your pvc edge tape. I wish I could send you pictures of my ruined pieces!

I love Festool tools but somehow this video seems to make edge banding look even harder than doing it the manual way.

The lessons are great but the covid fear porn.... not so much.
