Have seen ferrofluid near a magnet before, but seeing it acting as a lubricant and marker when directly on a magnet is definitely a new one for me. Very cool.

Being kind of difficult to make, and therefore probably more expensive than purely oil based lubricants, it use in an environment like a train where is will be continuously shed through exposure and centripetal force is probably cost prohibitive.

There's actually a guy who did this, if you go looking for the video. Made a suit out of a thousands of those little round ball bearings magnets that you can get, then stepped into Ferrofluid, for the Symbiote effect. It's really cool!

Not really, people weren't stupid back then. I mean, they were, but they'd accept it as just another natural phenomenon seeing how it doesn't really directly conflict with their understanding of the world.

Still has friction, you got gas particles in the air that slow it down, along with the sliding of it against the object it's rubbing against, everything has some kind of friction except space.

An artist without appropriate and good tools is a scary being. They will go to any lengths to acquire the perfect tools.
