    My entry into the construction industry back in the 1980s was tieing steel. If I had the knowledge and basic equipment this guy utilises, methinks I may have more years left to live.

    Just saw your question.. yes, definitely could do an ethereal figure with chicken wire over rods or lengths of fencing wire stuck in the ground bent over and shaped. Lace together with lacing wire...

    Hi, May I ask how thick in mm was this rebar please? I want to have the 4 bar trench mesh to bend the mid section into a garden arch for my veggies garden. Hope you can advise and help. Thanks so much, Tiffany.

    Hi Tiffany...it was 10mm 3/8 inch approx. 'Deformed' ie has little ridges all along it. Yes you should be able to do a form of the drum trick with a strip of mesh, starting the bend in the middle may be best if you brace upright drum while a helper bends it around drum... Or fill drum with water for stability...

    Surely 3/8th rebar? (9.5mm)

    Interesting. That’s not the rebar that has the ribs on? That’s more high tensile and hard to bend? Thanks.

    So what is ferrocement? Rebar reinforced mortar?

  • @wizardofeutopia

    @wizardofeutopia

    7 ай бұрын

    Hi..it's a thin shell of strong mortar - cement plaster - trowelled into various thicknesses of steel bar and or mesh usually with several layers of fine half inch -13mm- chicken wire tightly laced together with thin wire. The plaster is often smoothed over with a second coat but the steel remains close to the surface so there's a lot of fine reinforcement throughout the shell. It's Sunday and that's a rough description only!
