The Ferrari F40 is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-door coupé sports car built from 1987 to 1992, with the LM and GTE race car versions continuing production until 1994 and 1996 respectively. The successor to the Ferrari 288 GTO, it was designed to celebrate Ferrari's 40th anniversary and was the last Ferrari automobile personally approved by Enzo Ferrari. At the time it was Ferrari's fastest, most powerful, and most expensive car for sale.
The car debuted with a planned production total of 400 and a factory suggested retail price of approximately US$400,000 in 1987 ($840,000 today), although some buyers were reported to have paid as much as US$3 .6 million in contrast to its 1999 value of £140,000. One of those that belonged to the Formula One driver Nigel Mansell was sold for the then record of £1 million in 1990, a record that stood into the 2010s. A total of 1,311 F40s were manufactured.

Raw power - no frills. Not even door handles- just pull on the plastic-coated wire that goes across the opening in the door. Got to drive one in the 90s, and it was a thrill. Closest thing to that feeling of raw energy now is the Porsche GT3, another true drivers's car.

this car is made by the hands of a bunch of people with clear ideas of what a supercar had to be and by now after almost 40 years this is considered the best supercar ever made. No electronic shit, just you, 500 hp on 1100 kg and one of the best manual gearboxes

The best considered is the Mclaren F1 with big difference. And the best manual gearbox was the Porsche Carrera GT and old NSX. And remember, F40 have turbo so is not progressive and have turbo lag.

Classic Ferraris are the worlds most expensive cars, people will fall in line for a 1 million dollar F40, do you see anyone falling in line to buy a MacLaren F1 at that price? This is a Ferrari, not some British crap full of electronics with interior that looks like someone bombed a roll of alcantara. If F40 was a pretty girl the F1 would be an ashtray-smelling ladyboy,
いいな～いい車だ👍 昔、中学時代F40を見に行って見るだけのつもりがベタベタとさわり挙げ句にはコンコンプラスチック何だね～。持ち主登場プラスチックじゃなくカーボンだよ。触ってもニコニコしてた。エンジン部分のカーボンで幾らくらいするの～その当時1億2000万車体でカーボンボディーは後ろ側だけ1500万とか触るの辞めた(-_-;)運転してみたいな～。

i heard a guy in Norway had an F40 with high mileage, he sold it last year and i dont know how long he owned it but obviously F40 is made to be driven, not just a piece of crap to stay in a garage like a Koeningsegg.
