    Thanks Julian, I treat all my cars like I will keep them forever! So far, forever hasn’t happened. I do love the F355 though. Had wanted one since I first laid eyes on one at age 10. I have thoroughly enjoyed ownership so far. But I also like working on projects and moving on as well. Time will tell.

    Hi there that’s a great question, more interesting than what it costs to do! It’s a combination of things I think. I’m mechanically minded and always have been, so this is almost natural to me. I’m extremely passionate about learning so I’m constantly reading, watching and growing in all aspects related to this sort of work. I enjoy it and it gives me great satisfaction to keep working towards my vision of a perfect F355. My circle of friends who are in many aspects more experienced than I, so I have a good knowledge base to call upon. Finally I don’t have a problem knowing where to draw the line and ask for a hand when something is beyond my capability.

    The best Ferrari sports car is the all analog (baby Testarossa) Ferrari 348. The 348 is the biggest bang for the buck in Ferraris. As the predecessor to the 355, the 348 has the Formula 1 exhaust note without the costly valve and active suspension issues the 355 has. Less is more in analog sports cars. Older is easier as most can work on a 348. Its now or never for 348 buyers.

    Thanks Tony, there is a similar spec like you described of your old car in Sydney now. I have had my F355 for 7 years still have it. Sticky parts were done by CarPlastix in Czech Republic. There isn’t a good enough vendor for my standards in Australia. Depends how fussy you are I guess.

    It wasn’t cheap but also not prohibitively expensive as I did the work myself except for machining the heads and some items I sent off for refinishing etc. The parts add up for sure but the hours I have in the car would far out weigh the cost and if you had to pay someone to do it then it would be mega dollars. Eventually more F355’s will get this treatment as they continue to rise in value and people want them at their best.

  • @elliottcaras3281

    @elliottcaras3281

    2 жыл бұрын

    They went to sintered steel mid production of the F355. Not sure there was much issue my car went 60k Kms with no excess oil consumption but once did a compression and leak down I saw the numbers were down on a couple cylinders and once the top end was rebuilt the car was noticeably more powerful. There are a few options with the guide replacement there are manganese bronze guides as well that people run with good results.
