why do journalists do that all the time. It is a totally different car from the 458, so why compare the two cars. Evaluate the car for the market that it is intended for and it will no doubt score more highly.

it's wonderful... good design and technology ... and also sound did not change much... Ferrari is on the right way ....

I think this is definitely the best sounding turbocharged engine out there. Certainly better than the 650S which sounds flat across the entire rev range. Here, you still get that familiar Ferrari V8 howl. It's not perfect but credits to Ferrari for going the extra mile.

It's not a 458, it's a GT car. This car competes with Bentley GTC and Merc SL63/5. I think it holds it's own well in this catergory.

To be honest, I agree with you. The California T lacks that traditional Ferrari noise. They're known to sing and rev up so high

That wasn't my point. What made Ferrari stand out were their highly revving, naturally aspirated engines that had great soundtracks. And if they can't adapt well in the upcoming times then they'll be doomed

The problem is that too many manufacturers are trying to hide the fact it's a turbocharged engine (active intake and exhaust valves, sound generators, limited torque etc) instead of embracing it. Turbo whistle, bov venting, wastegate noise, and even turbo lag can all make a great driving experience and awsome sound. Just listen to a supra, Dsm, sti, skyline....they can sound fantastic.

How's this then? A Ferrari California T Speciale; the Cal T with the 488 GTB engine in it... Sounds good, no? :D Let's hope Ferrari has the sense to do this!!

I don't agree about the looks. I think the last one was one of the best looking, most elegant cars ever. I don't think this one looks better. Although this front bumper does look rather elegant, if it's elegance you're going for. But for all I know it may look better in person. I think so much cars nowadays look better in person then in photos.

sounds so much like the s63 m5 engine

It is literally one of the most beautiful cars ever built, inside and out...i just doesn't sounds even half a good as the previous California naturally aspirated V8. Turbo chargers ruin cars like these.

Still thinking turbocharged will give you a good sound? Just look at 2014's F1 compared to 2013's. Even for the 100%-racing-purpose cars, they cannot produce a good sound, how is it possible to produce a good sound in normal cars?

Garbage! Why Ferrari decided to rehash their original 250 GT California Spider into this modern day EYE SOAR, is beside me! One thing is for sure though, by doing so Ferrari has dropped their prestige drastically!!
