The Acceleration of HYBRID prototypes from the slow corners is unbelievable! This is the main difference between HYBRID and non-Hybrid cars. The electric motors really very helps for beginning of acceleration.

It would be really nice if Toyota would bring a more civilzed version of this engine and powertrain system for a serial car. They have some very sporty cars in their lineup that could really become the next hot shit if they did.

Watching Alonso go through tertre rouge in person was insane. He down shifts and hits the brake for a split second just because of aero and diff that makes the car TURN better I think. Epic driver

He's putting 3.20 and low 21s laps while lifting the gas 200m before braking points for fuel saving purposes. What a fucking animal.

I don't like loud interiors, but I could live with that sound everyday.

It's a stunning drive.

Never could understand why that sound makes me so sleepy......is it just me or is that drivetrain soothing?

It is not important the fastest lap, it is important to be consistent in those fast laps. Alonso put more faster laps than everybody. That is what this sport means. Resistance.

praticamente questa Toyota 2018 ha vinto la 24h di LeMans senza avversari concreti e reali... senza più le Audi e le Porsche.... comunque va be dai.... era dalla 24h del 2012 che ci provavano a vincerla..... ci hanno messo 6 anni eh, ben venga la loro vittoria all'edizione 2018 ;)

I think he might be trying not to overheat and wear the breaks off, since it's probably one of the most violent braking zone of the track. In the long run it's gotta make a difference, and it's definitely not something you want to be changing in that kind of race.... well in any race really. But it's my guess.

Coasting to recharge the hybrid. You'll find LMP1-L and lmp2 can overtake the HY cars in braking zones because of this. Until they get round the corner and the Hybrid kicks in.

May look that way but he is lifting and coasting into heavy breaking zones this - 1 - charges the hybrid system, and conserves it and 2 - saves him fuel, which in endurance racing is a big factor.

Getting every bit out of that car.

WootTootZoot i think you didnt watch a single race of the years before. toyota had such bad luck it was insane, audi and porsche sure build great cars but i wouldnt call all of the trophys „well deserved“, on the other hand toyota really deserved one, not only for the great race but also for an equalizer of the bad luck in the years before

Alonso with 2 other driver,not alone and he has the best car without opposition: Esay win !!! Any other good driver would have done the same. Alonso is overrated: when has he done something good in formula1 since is lucky title in 2005 ?

that is false. his night stint was a gamechanger, as he was consistently running 4-5 seconds faster per lap than the lead Toyota, and also he was the first man who really beat Michael Schumacher so no he was not lucky, if that's what you want to call it

no one is saying that these cars are slow,but i fail to see the excitement of watching an electric drill go by at 200mph.count me out.

Easy to win without Porsche or Audi being there, he should throw that trophy to garbage
