That is no basic chicken coop! The expertise, dedication and commitment you have put in to this chicken mansion is just incredible! Very spoilt chickens
Wow, your chickens live in 5 star accommodation. Your buildings are amazing 👏🏽
Great architecture for chickens, I wonder if they realise how privileged they are.😊
Bravo Mr. James for your hard work on the videos!!!
Dude, you’ve gotten leaner! Everything is looking great. You set the bar very high.
Hello, you do sound better now. Thank you.

Always love your videos. Can't help but chuckle watching Cali surreptitiously patrol the chicken coop. Beautiful girl.
I ferment the grains, seeds, and legumes we give our chickens as well. I also use 3 buckets because the 3rd day seems to be their sweet spot 😊. I don’t put holes in the buckets to drain the water and run new water through daily, though. That is usually done when trying to sprout the feed, which is also good for the chickens. I keep the same water in the bucket the whole time and make sure to stir the feed a couple times per day. It will start fermenting on the second day - you’ll see bubbles. By the 3rd day, there will be a slight yeasty smell. Absolute yum for the chooks! I use a kitty litter scoop that I found at a store with homes versus slits to strain their feed as I give it to them. The leftover fermented liquid has probiotics too so I offer it free choice in a bowl near their water. The flock ALWAYS drinks the fermented water until it is gone before drinking their regular water. When I used to feed the same feed dry and unfermented, there seemed to be a lot of waste. Since I began fermenting, every single seed gets eaten. No more stragglers to the run. The girls (and boys) are waiting excitedly for me and I am easily able to lock them up for the night while they eat the evening meal. I also feed 1/2 the amount I used to because it expands so much, is so much easier to digest, and has many more nutrients bioavailable now. (Sorry for the long post) PS I love your videos!
Yay, we have sound! ❤
Thanks Shawn for the chicken feed idea. I am north of you a few hours and have a secure coop and small run for the chickens as predators are common. When I lived in Southern Ontario, I could pasture my hens on my farm but not here. I get a chuckle out of Callie's role as "supervisor". My dog has much the same role at my place...he supervises all that I do on a daily basis and provides homestead protection on the side.
Thank you for re-releasing the video. I can remember raising chickens when I was a kid. My siblings and I had a lot of fun doing that. We learned a lot about raising our own food too.
Everything is looking fantastic Shawn! Thank you dear! Blessings to you and family!
My dad would always plant buckwheat on new fields, then plow it under. It chokes out unwanted plants, and when you plow it under, it builds the soil.
What a great job you did. Your chickens look happy. I have been following your channel for years. You have come such a long way. I think you have met your goal of self reliance. Very fun to watch. ❤
One thing I know is Those chickens you have can thermal regulate pretty well when dry it’s not an issue, but when wet, they cannot regulate under 7°C
Shawn, that is no chicken coop, that sir is a house from Grimms Fairy Tales. You have given us a surprise with this, really neat construction.
This sounds to me like good planning on your part. Well fed chickens are happy chickens!
Yay! Success! Third time's the charm.
Great photography and nature sounds. If you ever make beer - fermented hops might be another good food for chickens.
SHAWN & OUR CALI !!! See I came Back to watch this video !!! If there is little chickens there they won't be able to eat that I THINK !!! Babies have to have smaller pieces for them !!! I like this one here !!! You got a Rooster also so you will have a Brooding hen at some point in time then BABIES will come on out of the eggs !!! LOVE those BABIES !!! Shawn you do a great JOB at helping others out in life here !!!
"Thank you", see third time is a charm!.
Such a unique beautiful chicken coop. A mansion for them for sure!
Thank you , Shawn . 🐺Loupis Canis .
Good sound 👍
Callie's like "Mmmmm, chicken!" 🦮
Good to go now!
Thanks Shawn, awesome! 🌱🌱🌱👏👏👏💯💯💯
That is one GORGEOUS little dinosaur habitat!
Mr james..excellent work on your gardening videos.all your vids. Now this is just an idea.. you might like microgreens.takes 8 to10 days to grow 5 to 6 inches tall and microgreens gives you 40 percent more vitamins and minerals than full grown plants.god bless.keep up your awsome videos.
I used to grow wheat grass for my chickens in the middle of winter. BOY was THAT a hit in the chicken run! :-)
I have been sprouting sometimes for my chickens when I have time for a long time. They will eat the sprouts before any feed that I give them. I mostly do pinto beans which only take a few days to sprout.
Me and my wife have been doing that for a year and a half and they love it great eggs too! Then we would give them a handful of meal worms every day yummy!
Third time is a charm! Great video❤ Thanks Shawn 😊
Love the chicken coop that sure was funny when cali was licking her chops Lol 🙏🏻💖🥰❤️💕👍🇺🇸
Thanks for the hard work, Shawn. It must have been frustrating.
Nailed it! Audio & video.
Third time lucky! :)
The garden is beautiful
Great episode, glad you found a way around the issue! I had never thought about sprouts.
Thank you ! Great idea for my chickens!
merci JAMES
use the old seed water on the garden ... it is LOADED with good stuff for the garden .... sugars minerals etc ... heck move it to a barrel with willow shoots and small new growth branches ... and you have a barrel full of natural rooting compound ... malting grains without wanting to brew them ... heck even a bucket of brew would be nice for the holidays ;) another good mating method to get better seed reliability ... a porous clay pot buried in the ground filled with the grain to the top and let sit over winter ... the top few inches are not viable usually the rest are 85% or better viable ... as the top inches rot they drop carbon dioxide and that seas in the lower grains from oxygen allowing them protection and moderate warmth ... this slowly converts the starch of the seed into sugars over 3 or 4 months ... then spread and a nice soak ... on e HOT day so the sun heats them up a bit then cover with a fine layer of dirt ...
Eating a chicken dinner as I watch this! The feed sounds good. 👍😎🇨🇦🐓👌🌱
Thanks Shawn for redoing the video.. 😊. Happy for the addition of chickens to your place. Great video thank u
Parabéns James pelo seu trabalho. Paulo Sérgio Koppe Brasil
Maybe a quick definition of fermenting followed by germination?
Boa sorte!! Felicidades pra você que Deus esteja controle sempre. Em tudo que você faz. 😊😊😊😊😊
What a neat idea for feeding the flock!
Saw a video a while ago where fly larvae were raised as chicken feed
Yeah!!! Sound and video!!
Bedankt Shawn 🦋🇧🇪
I've been thinking about doing this too .. just haven't yet. I wanted to add a comment tho about egg production. It will drop into the winter months maybe down to nothing or one or two eggs every couple days. You can change that .. by adding a light and increasing the light either in the morning or in the evening. You may want to give the chickens a rest .. but it's also frustrating to be feeding them food and not getting eggs. I was amazed to see the difference after adding a light to my chicken house. Not many know how much light affects laying! When you think about it .. the setting of the sun .. is the trigger for them to go to their roost .. so it makes sense that light affects laying as well. All the best!
very nicely done.
Show de bola, magnífico Shawn 🎉❤🙏
Those chickens never had it so good. You built a custom chicken 🐓 coop that is such a great place to raise them.❤❤❤
Congratuletions for your ten hen girls
At first, i thought you had a "chicken mash" distillery going there in the woods... 🥃 🐓🦉
Very good thank you my friend
Danke für die Arbeit an dem Video, jetzt ist bestimmt ein wenig workout mit der Axt entspannend 😁👍
Parabéns pelo seu lindo trabalho ❤❤❤
Those chickens are living in 5 star accommodations. Beautiful set up.

That is better Shawn, sound qualiity back to normal. Cali lying on the earth needing a bath I'd say.
👋😊
I love chickpeas. Just made my homemade hummus this afternoon. Never imagined that chickens ate chickpeas.
what a nice chicken coop! I have not been watching you for a while now, but am checking in to see what you are up to. I would assume that the coop is totally wildlife proof. I gave up my hens when a weasel moved in under the coop. I hope you are successful with your flock.
Спасибо, что заменили видео. Теперь всё отлично!
😁👍🏼
Take 3! Success!!

Thank you for the reload of this video. To err may be human, but it takes technology to REALLY foul (fowl?) things up!
Will you get any guinnea (sp?) hens?
are the chicken save against the wild animals in your canadian wood?
I can see the names of commenters but not the comments. Yet not wanting us to have knowledge on survival/life skills huh! Well done Shaun

I almost can't see you with that Camo shirt on.
Sir…. I would love the opportunity one day to share what I know with you about whisky making. You already have everything you need. It is the ultimate barter item, and lasts forever. Wish there was a way I could contact you and give something back for all of the wisdom you have shared. I am an aerospace engineer by trade.
So you've got chicken and a rooster. That's fine way to get protein. Egg combined with some people live on and vegetar and beans potato. Strangely enough I have a video with the three smartest in my country and no-one of them of them don't eat meat. I wonder about their arguments. Rooster are happy and chicken. They sacrifice the eggs and with no pain. Can you make pancakes? Is the milk?
3rd times the charm
Matthew 6:19-21 [19] “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; [20] but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. [21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
