We all have quick tendencies in our flesh to judge Sproul jr. Matthew 9:12-13 “But when Jesus heard that, He said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Let’s not turn the reformation into the Pharisees, but rather pray for those (all of us) who fall short. I just heard about Sproul Jr’s sinful act, which was a few years ago…. God’s mercy is great. We are great sinners, but Christ is a greater Savior!!!

"I just heard about Sproul Jr’s sinful act, which was a few years ago." You haven't been keeping up. Sproul Jr's life has been a perpetual dumpster fire for at least two decades. His sinful acts continue to this day. And we're talking some really disgusting and perverse stuff too. He's a reprobate masquerading as a "pastor."

I think we all loved RC Sr's wise words. But loving wise words and actually making practical application of them to our lives are very different things. Take RC Jr for example. He made total shipwreck of his life, so obviously he must not have valued his father's wisdom all that much.

@@userofusername Yesterday, I found out that Sproul Sr, was a smoker for 45 years of his life. He knew it was wrong and made an effort not to display it before other believers. (Hypocrisy?) It was an addiction that he struggled with for a majority of his christian life. And while I was disappointed to learn about it, I can't condemn the man because I believe that he brought his weakness before the Lord and received the deliverance he needed. My point is that though we may place some men on pedestals and look down on others, we should remember that they are human and subject to failure. The Bible tells us to bear up the weak ones among us. I pray that Sproul Jr has received the needed grace to live a life of true faith to those who are watching him.

@@seekinggodfirst754 Your words for Dr. RC Sproul are very gracious, and I agree with you. I hope however you're not attempting to conflate the minor shortcomings of Dr. Sproul for the horrendous decades-long scandals and crimes of his reprobate son (see the Spinderella Sproul blog). I too pray for RC Jr's repentance. More than anything I pray he'll come to his senses and step down from the pulpit (as all his former pastor friends have told him). Junior doesn't even come close to meeting any of the biblical requirements per 1 Tim 3, Titus 1, etc. I consider this Junior's greatest sin of all -- masquerading as a pastor to leach off the body of Christ rather than getting an honest secular day job.

Thank you, Yah, for my discovering these most edified and intelligent men speak about things for which I need to listen to. Years of listening to all kinds of preachers and teachers and ministers explicate and expound on His word, will someone - anyone at all - dear reader, please tell me WHY I haven't run across these men before this week. Does God live inside of youtubes/algorithms? I'm half kidding - of course He DOES, he's everywhere, right? chuckles Perhaps I felt they were old fuddy duddies and just 'suits', probably freemasons to boot, and I moved on? I dunno, but I'm being SO helped and I admit and confess that Brother Ferguson - especially his 'Loving Your Enemies', has completely changed my life. Thank you, all of you men, for your work in helping others understand this world and Gods world, His plans. Maybe I HEARD Brother Ferguson (after God planted him on youtube for me chuckles) because I was so ready at that moment in time - I was SO ready, you see. Amen. ps: does any reader who is steeped in this Calvinist bizniz know of a great book which spells out biblical teachings re the role of women as wife and mother, for instance? I'm already happy as can be not being a feminist type, I love the Amish as models for how their women are, for instance - but I think a book as I described might be of great help for me. The deeper the book goes, the better. I'm an old woman living in a very weird world now, you KNOW. And what a devilish place it's become. smh Love and Prayers, a granny

@ 58:28 , R.C. Sproul Jr., I remember what Dr. Mac Arthur says when one of his students asked him if a man can overcome sin. His answer was (just a gist, not the exact word) yes, the more you mature spiritually, the more sanctification from God but the more you see that you are a sinner. I can relate on it.

I hesitate to comment, mean no disrespect nor certainly pose any expository arrogance or greater assumption of understanding here BUT a BEAUTIFUL, CRITICAL SIMPLICITY🕊 is TRAGICALLY overlooked - or, at least, not included - here: since all are Three Persons of The same Godhead & intrinsically, inseparably ONE, Each having distinct personalities but same purposes, sharing the same Essence and characteristics, it's IMPOSSIBLE for our Heavenly Father & Holy Spirit NOT to have SUFFERED as JESUS DIED AN EXCRUCIATING, AGONIZING DEATH especially when He cries out to His Father, WHY have you forsaken ME?! Any parent would be devastated watching one of their own innocent children be tortured, dying, yet not rescue them. It CAN'T BE that neither the Holy Spirit nor our Heavenly Father had no overwhelming EMPATHETIC (literally, FEELING HIS PAIN WITH HIM) response to Jesus's sufferings. THEY CAN'T NOT (yeah, I know, double negative, but meant for emphasis) feel CRUSHED for & WITH Him, 😭UNLESS THEY'RE REMOVED EMOTIONALLY FROM HIM 🙄AN IMPOSSIBILITY. It would be interesting to guest a seasoned Christian to share simple insights that can be obscured by more exhaustive- though not necessarily more important - ones (not for the purpose of expansive theological debate or delving into varying historical views/interpretation & modern applications, though a degree isn't always necessary to be able to have an intelligent, thoughtful response as well). BTW I've spent a LONG time appreciating, learning from & considering what they share (+ R.C., MacArthur, more). My comment is based on my 50+ years of having an extremely close walk through almost everything imaginable so I'm VERY grateful, PROTECTIVE & DEFENSIVE of my Heavenly Father, Son, Lamb & Savior Jesus & Holy Spirit, though my understanding on this side of Heaven is extremely limited Blessings to you all 🙏🏾💖🕊🐏🌿

@42:00 you can refer to Jesus as second Adam. Then you must account for him being made because the second Adam was made. The first Adam is the natural man. The second Adam is the man given Spirit. This should be Adam in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 The first Adam and the second Adam are not the same as the first Adam and the last Adam. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. So even if we label Crist as the last Adam, which he would not be if it is the spirit that gives life. This will also have to elevate the first Adam to a higher authority than the dismissive one we have given him. Is it enough to know or believe in Christ for the new believer without seeing the nature of the natural man and the spiritual man? He would need to be the second and the last. But He can't be if he is the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

I think the importance may be more so as a federal headship argument and his representative of His people like Adam is than anything else maybe. Adam was earthy made of the earth but Christ partook of flesh and blood as well we see in Heb. 2. But as in the first Adam had his origin in the earth made from the clay. The LORD is from heaven never having an origin and was manifested in the flesh as Head of the church to save His people.

@@wally1452 Piper simply preaches horizontally for application what are the principles of vertically explicit doctrines (of Grace)... And the integration of the Transcendent with the imminent application will naturally seem convoluted at times... Spurgeon said... You must Believe like a Calvinist and preach like an Arminian. And no one can do this like John Piper..and he has been included multiple times throughout the years, but scheduling and other considerations dictated that pattern. The difficulty in integrating the dynamics of Transcendence and immanence can unfortunately breed hyper Calvinism that then sees itself as the only sound reference point. This is one of the things that made Whitefield so great as well. Soli Deo Gloria

Now read 2nd peter 1:20 -21; Rev. 22:18-19. The trinity starts at Mat. 28:19: Pentecostal Apostolics start at Mat. 28:16, & Acts 2:38,& it goes from there Gal.1:10 - 12 ! You have to understand the Bible from Gen. 1:1-Rev. 22:21 Without trying to figure out what goes along with 1 verse in Mat. 28:19 ! It's up to you: Ph.2:12 , not in the man in a sharp dressed suite: 2nd Cor.11:4
