breakdown461 Wazza always has maintained that he is an Everton fan. But his move was motivated by both money and ambition. The fact that Tevez wasn’t signed up permanently and the obvious gap Ronnie left when he moved on, was glaring but the Glazers were clearly not interested in spending much money. They were very happy to spend a pittance on Valencia, Owen, Chicharito and that marquee signing was nowhere to be seen.

The problem with the position that Wayne plays in is that he plays right behind the 1st striker so Rooney really plays more of a CAM position rather than an out and out striker like Van Persie. Wayne Rooney is an amazing player and there is argument to say Rooney is the best player, it just depends on what you are looking for when it comes to the best. Rooney could drop into the position that Scholes occupies and then he would be the best player on the team...debatable of course.

As a lifelong Man U fan, I have seen some of the best come and some of the best go (and in Giggs, I believe the best has remained). Sure the club is bigger than any one individual, but if we keep leaking top individuals at this rate, it is going to start impacting on our results and stature. Even Sir Alex must acknowledge this! I can see where WR is coming from, but lately his form is anything but world class. A little ironic that his justification for leaving would exclude him from re-signing!

Would also just like to comment on two things.... We would be looking like a very different outfit if we could only get Owen Hargreaves match fit. One season of him in the midfield and I really think we would dominate again. Also, I had read somewhere of a connection with Wesley Sneijder.... Put him in a United strip and once again, we are supporting a totally different team from that of today!!

To be honest, we don't really need Wayne Rooney, no doubting he is an asset but I think he provides more of a phsycological boost than anything, United has many goals in it if players like Berbatov, Nani and Hernandez can get their heads right. I also think that Owen has a few goals in him too, he just hasn't been given a decent chance. All we have to do is cash in BIG and buy a more prolific and natural striker ( Huntelaar or Suarez come to mind right now) for half the price.

@zycoz i agree. money has brainwashed them, they couldent care less if there team has successes or fails. as longs as they get payed at the end of the week there happy.
Think again....
@ForgetaboutFreeman because of the 20% sell on claus that everton have it unlikely that utd willl take a cash offer unless its 50mill +. if real is the destination then i suspect it will be straight swap for kaka or benzema + (mamudah diarra or lasanna diarra) or something on similar lines with little or no cash thus avoiding the sell on claus problem. plus utd hav tracked both diarra's and benzema already
Please rooney....respect to the club....n be nice....
I bet he just wanted more money back then ..

Ganesan Rajasekaran - 😂😂 that literally didn’t warrant that at all you madman hahaha
The only people he kept the door open for is rooney and cantona in all his time. But he really did bow down to rooneys demands in the end.
very smart wat utd av dun he signs new contract value skyrockets
@MrReidy24 dont think he would even dare move to a rival club
100% agreed.
dont be so sure.....
Completely agreed.
this is so saddening
Would also just like to comment on two things.... We would be looking like a very different outfit if we could only get Owen Hargreaves match fit. One season of him in the midfield and I really think we would dominate again. Also, I had read somewhere of a connection with Wesley Sneijder.... Put him in a United strip and once again, we are supporting a totally different team from that of today!!
@Nixach05 Ronaldo actually wanted to go to madrid the season before he left, his dream was to play for real madrid when he was young. He wanted to move on and prove that he should be one of the best players ever.
Titles decide how good a team is, if you're part of the winning team then you've got a better chance of being a champion. It's not Van Persie's fault he had to carry the Arsenal team for so many years.
Falcao and Lewandowski to Man Utd? Opinions on that possibility?
Rooney is synonymous to Man United. I am glad they worked out a deal which is good for both of them
Looking back on it, he was right. Yes he won 2 more league titles after this but it only got worse for Utd after 2013. He probably should’ve left just not to city

It only got worse because Ferguson left, Rooney would have kept winning things if Fergie had stayed on longer.
@MrDarrenMain class players can adapt, rooney would be a success in any league
cant believe people actually spend time arguing through posts on youtube videos. deary me. just enjoy the videos and be happy.
knew we shouldn't have put so much hope in someone from liverpool
noooooooooooooooo :( ROONEY SHELL ME MISSED AT OLD TRAFFORD!!!
Oh crap, I'm going to have to colour my picture on my FIFA 11 aren't I?
Where will he go?
Nooooooooooo please dont gooooo! plz plz plz stay!!
that transfer went well
What the f**k did he say ??? 😂😂😂
wow, 4:30 you can clearly see Alex heart is broken....he is really sad.
Look how young his hands look
@bradleym1 Well it's probably the best way to be. Football should be something to be proud of and love watching. When players respect and give bk to the fans it makes for a better experience.
Is this the season Rooney said he didn't think this united side will win anything & ended up staying for more money? Its the closest Ive seen Fergie riled by a player & his book got slight revenge on this occasion.
RVP, same situation
Lool, calm down. I know this was in 2010 but he's gonna leave in 2013 so does it matter?
Dont let his brace today confuse you...
For once i can hear what he's saying!!!
@TheCOM1993 That's all good and well if we spend that money on a player but it will go to cover the debt put on the club by the owners so we'll have no Rooney and no player of the same ilke to replace him.
@stedrake why isn't he scoring if he's so good?
@jrpotsy Ha yeah right, well suppose could be worse, could follow Liverpool.
Spot on bud :)
@MrsBobbydeniro didnt you learn from everton?
@mcooperisonit well said.
@withapacketofsweets No, I understand Everton did a lot for him but he wouldn't have become the player he is without Uniteds help. Even if he did it to Everton the points still exist.
Oh man I hope he goes to real Madrid I can see the head lines now " Rooney reunites with Ronaldo."
TRUE DAT
Man Utd and Man City have spent about the same on players over the last 5 years. Its funny how when a team comes along with the same cash to splash as UTD you struggle. Lets see how well you do this year without Fergie time.
You're missing the point, compare where each team got their funds..
Fergie's accent never changed, not even a little bit
Why is this recommended after 11 years😂😂
no if man utd sold him then they would have been screwed - he was man utd's best player by far that season he stayed
All we have to do is cash in BIG and buy a more prolific and natural striker ( Huntelaar or Suarez come to mind right now) for half the price.
tragic, tragic, tragic.
@shadowrealmxz David Gill lol how don't you know that
I was waiting how SAF would deal with this, totally the manager he was, owned it ! Fact !!
I saw that coming the moment C. Ronaldo left ManU. He had to leave at some point. If not now....maybe later.
I just Hate the Miller 64 ad I keep friggin SEEING!
@thepastry "theres nobody in the squad as good as them at the moment. and ur right" - You've just proved my point. I didnt say it was a bad side, your still at the top of the table. I said it was a bad united side, Hence the players you have currently are not good enough for what is expected of a table topping Man Utd side, Hence they are not fit to wear the shirt. But not to worry, its the same case with all of the old top four at the moment.
I have a newfound respect for Wayne Rooney
Much respect to fergie for handling this situation so well. I reckon the roondog already agreed a deal. Rooney is clearly a great example of loneliness in every way. But shame on him...... I'd love him at the toon! If he's a man he'll go home!
@matsui2001 Yeah i would have loved to have lived in a time when players were passionate about football. When i was a kid i would sit in front of tv with my dad n watch it and i loved it! But bk then i was naive and didn't realise how much they were getting paid. But todays wages are extortionate and they play atrociously. I just want to see a bit of pride bk in the game. Fans love to watch but players dont love to play it's such a shame really.
Ferguson didn't persuade him to stay, 250k did
Wooooh more playing time for chicharito!!!!
