Well, they are Space Viking Werewolves Super Soldiers Demigods with a Power Armor and a Runic/Energy/Frost Weapon and they have also giant wolves as pets and battle brothers. They're the quintessence of badassery.

No beast in the 40K lore that makes me smile like the Fenrisian wolves. Who wouldn't want a pet wolf the size of a small car or even a decent sized tank? :)

Odly enough the space wolfs have been known to play fetch with their wolves granted instead of balls or sticks they use tyranids and other heresy. But it’s the thought that counts

This is a parallel evolution thing. A xenos monster that looks like an oversized Terran wolf but bears no genetic relationship. A lot of Fenrisian wildlife looks like oversized Terran wildlife.

@@psychedashell It's widely implied throughout the Horus Heresy series that the wolves are Human, it might even be official canon. Fenrisian wolves are from the original human settlers, and thunder wolves are supposedly from astartes.

@@londonlad80s We know Thunderwolves aren't astartes because Russ was raised by one before the astartes were made. We know for certain Thunderwolves predate astartes. We also know that the Space Wolf geneseed freaks out without Fenrisian blood and pretty much guarantees Non-Fenrisian aspirants become Wulfen - for some reason having more wolfity in their genetics making Fenrisian Space Wolf aspirants less likely to Wolf out doesn't make a great deal of sense. 40k is messed up but that is very counter intuitive. I'm more convinced that 'There are no wolves on Fenris' is an extension of Angron giving Russ a solid burn when he told him that Wolves don't come to heel when their master calls, that's what dogs do.

Speaking about Space Wolves. I would love to hear about the "Months of Shame" in the future, God bless and merry Christmas!

I still don't know why the SW want to keep this a secret. Charging into battle, power-ax in one hand, ale in the other atop a wolf the size of a baby elephant sounds badass.

I think its because the Space Wolf high command want to keep from being thought of as barbarians, so they cover it up because its embarassing for Space Marines to go to war in such a crude way.

Love the lore. Something about your voice + a Ken Burns effect is just perfect. Fun fact: on Terra ( I can't speak for Fenris), the concept of an alpha based pack hierarchy in wolf packs is a myth based on one debunked study, they have a much more complex social structure. Smart critters

Yup! David Mech, the author, realized later he’d made critical mistakes in his methodology. He was only observing captive wolf packs, which would look like prison gangs to wild wolves.

I mean, in most Grey Wolf packs observed completely wild. The wolves follow more of a Matriarchal lead. While the Alpha Male might lead for most the time especially during hunts, the Matriarch gets first dibs on everything it seems.

I can't explain how much I enjoy this. As a long Space Wolf veteran, I can't but take in every single millisecond of this. And to know that there's more coming... The maximum i could ask for is an entry to Leman Russ, similar to the one Dorn's had, but i know that they are two very different characters, and you also had quite a connection do Dorn, something that you probably won't have with the Lord of Winter and War. A man can only hope ^^ As always, masterful job. Keep it up, Baldy

No matter how long the entry is it’s always to have something to listen to after a long day of work. Thank you and take some respite baldy Update on my son showing signs of heresy He now cry’s when he hears Eliphas the inheritors voice And will kick violently and shout with space marine voice lines from dawn of war It’s the only thing that has gotten the poor boy to sleep the past couple of days. Its ironic 8-10 foot tall super soldiers in armor plating screaming at the top of their lungs, puts My son to sleep

As an old-school Lizardman player from Warhammer Fantasy, I can attest to the Cold One Cavalry being just as you say: if the riders can't hit for beans, the mounts will reap an unholy tally despite what the stat sheets say should be the more lethal of the pair. Same for getting kicked in the mouth by a Chaos Steed when the knights flail about ineffectually.

if you want to understand the bound between thunderwolf and his rider just look at them . rider holds on to the wolf but there is no leash on his ride they both charge for battle as one

I am afraid that I can't resist... PUPPIES! That being said, have you played any tabletop games besides the 40K ones? I've pondered the People's Codex a bit more, and I'm wondering if it would be worth redesigning the rules from scratch. Hit, wound, save, and shrug might be just a bit too many rolls for a single attack phase, and a speedup may be called for. Also, I've heard a lot of nice things about Crossfire from Lindybeige.

Very interesting topic, I'm looking forward to it. But remember There are no wolves on Fenris. PS: First maybe?
