Fenix A320: Pneumatic System Feature Review!

Hi guys, first shot at doing a video feature review! Please let me know if you like these sorts of things :)
As a note: Deep Engine Simulation is not implemented in this build - hence there is no difference in ENG 1 and ENG 2 - this is planned for later.

It's built on ProSims A320 engine so a lot of the system work is pre existing and hence well known to be detailed. Bringing this into MSFS is a great move.

Aamir at 31:20 - You speak about fan located downstream the ram air inlet flap and which is not depicted, if have a look carefully this fan is depicted on the diagram as “COOLING FAN” and it interconnected to the compressor/ turbine axis. There is another feature that is not depicted on the diagram. There bleed system extracts water from the bleed air before it enters the turbine section. This water is then injected into the ram inlet airflow to increase cooling through evaporation. During the the walk around pilots usually visually inspect the ram air inlet flap for FOD’s (sometimes it is possible to see the water injection system injecting water into the airflow). Would be something amazing to have it modeled!

With a PhD in thermal science and working as thermodynamic process engineer for organic Rankine cycle power generator, I find your video very interesting. Truly appreciate your effort in explaining the physics in a way that’s easy to understand. I found it quite difficult sometime as I was making videos for our customers to explain the thermodynamics of rankine cycle. Thank you!

This is really great to see this level of detail and attention go into an aircraft like this. Such an incredible project that you all have undertaken. I can also tell you for a fact that these minute temperature considerations, such as how passengers and cargo influence the time it takes for the areas of the aircraft to heat or cool, are things that I will absolutely appreciate having in this aircraft. It can be frustrating and it certainly breaks that level of immersion when you see things that are simply hard-coded and don’t react the same way as they do in real life. Can’t wait for this! I also really love this format, it’s much easier to digest and you can consume a lot more information via a video format. You’re able to show all of the aircraft schematics inside of the plane and then take you outside to show you exactly which ducts and inlets corresponds to what you’ve shown on both the synoptic pages but also in the FCOM. Hope to see more videos like these.

I’ll tell you what, this is a very smart way to teach aircraft systems. I’m a real A320 pilot and I knew the pack inlet close on take off power but seeing it makes a huge difference, and a realistic sim like this can let you see stuff like this you’ll never see in real life. Can’t wait for this to be release, currently build a home cockpit to stay proficient in the stuff we don’t see out on the line everyday.

i’m not a pilot and i won’t pretend to know what it’s really like, but i can imagine having stuff like the fenix a320 to practice certain scenarios or understand certain systems would be really useful. so if you’re confused about a certain feature on the plane, i would think it would be much better to see it in action as apposed to a oral explanation

For your information, the fan you were looking for, halfway in to the video, is actually shown on the on the simplified pack schematic. It is driven by the ACM, it sucks air through the two heat exchangers, and is pointed at with an arrow, stating: COOLING FAN. Keep up the fantastic work. Looking fwd to the release.

Honestly this seems really ground-breaking in terms of sim design. The attention to detail in the way you've got it down here seems pretty crucial to the behaviour like you state in the video. This looks like it's going to be the best study level aircraft possible and I hope that Microsoft is paying this alot of attention. I can't wait to try it out! Great video dude and please keep them coming :). Next up the A350 and A380?

O-My-God! I am only 15 minutes in and felt the need to comment. This is ABSOLUTELY thrilling. Systems modeling is - and always will be - the most important aspect of flight simulation to me. This is on an altogether different level. I loved the LDS767 and it was my aircraft of choice to fly in FS9, largely because of the relatively complex system modeling. I can't wait to watch all of your videos and I will unquestionably be purchasing this masterpiece when it it released. This gives new meaning to, "As Real as it Gets"! BRAVO!!! EDIT: I forsee a new simulator title: Aircraft Maintenance and Service Technician Simulator" Wow... Just, Wow!

Aamir - There are two AC system components configurations. The diagram that you showed reflects the configuration that comprises 1 zone controller and 2 pack controllers, correct me if I am wrong but this is an old configuration. Usually the majority of the A320 are fitted with the 2 ACSC instead. Regarding the trim air system when you switch the HOT air off optimized regulation is lost. Trim air valves are driven to the fully closed position (the trim air valves must move to the “C” position instantly, since they air electrically controlled and pneumatically operated). Pack 1 controls the cockpit temperature to the selected value and pack 2 controls the cabin temperature (FWD and AFT) to the mean value of the selected temperatures.

So congratulations you will deliver a better Airbus to our home computers than real pilots get in their simulator training!
